Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo says Authorities in Lusaka will soon start demolishing illegally built structures in a bid to create sanity in the allocation of land.

Mr. Lusambo says the exercise will start with structures built on water points which resulted in water contamination recently.

He has described the illegalities in land allocation in Lusaka as a cancer that requires quick medication to heal.

Speaking on the Hot Seat Programme on Hot FM this morning, Mr. Lusambo said he will not allow perpetrators of illegalities to hide in court in the name of injunctions.

He cited Matero Constituency particularly Emasdale as one of the areas where demolitions will be effected immediately.

“I will not accept any white paper, no excuse will be accepted, as long as you have built illegally on road reserves and water points among others areas, we are demolishing”, he added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lusambo says President Edgar Lungu’s latest warning that he will fire underperforming Ministers and Permanent Secretaries is timely.

On Tuesday, President Edgar Lungu warned Ministers and Permanent Secretaries of dismissal if they fail to deliver on the promises made to the Zambian people.

And Mr Lusambo says the warning is timely adding that there is need for concerted efforts from all government officers in order deliver according to people’s expectations.

Mr Lusambo who is also Kabushi Member of Parliament has since pledged his committed to ensuring that he delivers as Lusaka Province Minister and Member of Parliament.

  1. Unfortunately bwana minister, you were not employed to do your job. If by mistake you do your job right, then, you will be castigated as working against the able leadership of the humble one and you might end up losing your job

    • Lusambo has nothing to do. So now he wants to go demolish people’s houses.
Go demolish Nkwazi at plot 1, they want to build a new one.

  2. Target construction done on road reserves and water facilities . otherwise if you have to demolition all illegal structures in the city then you would have to demolish kanyama, chawama garden ,mandevu, chaisa, ngombe etc and that is impossible. Trade carefuly on this one.

  3. It’s about time we seriously started addressing the high birth rate in Zambia. It’s one of the highest in the world, even beating most African countries. The confusion we are seeing regarding illegal buildings is closely related to this population boom that is not moving with our stage of development. We should start educating people to carefully plan for their families. If we dont arrest this problem now, we will soon start seeing our brothers and sisters engaging in illegal activities and even drowning in the Mediterranean sea enroute to Europe like is happening in some African countries.

  4. The rotten governments and parastatals like ZESCO, lusaka water and sewerage etc. We see people build under high tension cables we let them and worse we electrify their houses! We let people build where main water popes pass we reward them by connecting them to our water supply, we instruct our cadres to illegally allocate land selling one plot to more than one person forcing people to build even where road are marked. We see people build as they wish, extend wall fences even just a metre away from main roads we just seat back and watch.

Psychology purports that the organisation of a mind of any person is seen in how he keeps his room. I bet our minds in zambia are as disorganised as we build. We need foreign aid to organise our brains from Lungu to the poorest Zambia.
