Ministry of General Education permanent secretary Jobbicks Kalumba says government is planning to boost the teaching of mathematics and science in the country with support from the Japanese government.

Dr. Kalumba says this is to ensure pupils have the necessary knowledge in the two subjects to help develop the country.

He says Japan has developed because of investing in science and mathematics.

Dr. Kalumba was speaking at the official opening of a four-week advanced course of the 2019 knowledge Co-Creation ceremony which has drawn participants from 13 countries.

At the same occasion, Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Hidenobu Sobashima said his country has traditionally attached importance to the improvement of education by developing the capacity of teachers through lesson study.

And Director National Science Centre Benson Banda said the idea behind holding the seminar is to find new ways of teaching mathematics and science in schools on the continent.

Meanwhile, Caroline Taliba, a national trainer in mathematics and science from Uganda, said there is need to plan properly for every child to fully realise their potential in the two subjects.

  1. Well done…..

Dr can we also look at introducing an environmental awareness subject compulsory to all primary school children.

This will help keep our environment clean and look after our natural resources in a patriotic way

    • By the time the primary school children taught that subject get to the streets , expect cleanliness , litter disposal and pollution to drastically improve ….together with guarding our natural resources from looting plundering individuals

  2. The wealth of the United States of America is largely built on their exploitation of physical sciences.
