Namafulu Primary School that was closed in January this year owing to poor sanitation, floods in Sinazongwe district has been reopened.
The Acting Head teacher Mwiinga Mainza said the School was still in a crippled situation despite reopening it last week.
A check at the School by ZANIS found that there were only two toilets that were being used while the rest were destroyed by floods that affected the district.
Mr. Mainza disclosed that the floods filled all the toilets causing the faecal matter to start floating and spilling out.
He said the Environmental technologist from Siansowa clinic closed the institution to avoid an outbreak of Cholera.
The Acting head teacher revealed that the School has no borehole since it was belt in 1998.
Mr. Mainza said they draw their drinking water direct from Lake Kariba which is also not clean for drinking.
He said the School should not survive on sympathy but out of programmes that could help to improve it.
Mr. Mainza said many people have visited the School and promised to help them but nothing has been done.
“ People just come here they get information and go for good, like from December last year to this year no one has visited us because the road was impassable,” Mr Mainza said.
The School which is from grade one to seven has only two classrooms and the third one was being used as house by one teacher who has no accommodation forcing some pupils to be having their lessons in a makeshift stricture.
Mr. Mainza said there was also a shortage of accommodation forcing teachers to be sharing the houses.
