Another Miner injured at Chinese coal mine

A miner has been injured underground at the Chinese Collum Mine (CCM)in Sinazongwe district.
Nkandabbwe ward Councillor Patson Mangunje told ZANIS that a lose rock underground fell on the miner’s backbone whose name has not yet been identified.
Mr. Mangunje said Maamba hospital has since referred the injured miner to the University Teaching Hospital for specialist treatment.

The Councillor said the accident occurred at shaft three.

The accident happened barely after three weeks when six miners were injured underground and one person died on the spot.
The accident triggered protest from the workers who were demanding for a higher wage because of the risky job they being subjected to do.
Three miners were arrested for inciting others to go on strike.

  3. Accidents and possibly near misses are becoming a regular feature in these doggy mines.Its time the Directors of these mines were prosecuted for negligence otherwise we shall lose alot of lives in the name of foreign exchange and jobs creation.

  4. This mine needs to cease operating till they can put safty measures in place/ You cannot have repeat accidents with 3 weeks and continue as though nothing happened. Lives are at risk and next time it may be a huge loss of lives that happens. Mine Inspectors and government do your f#@king job.

Ala chuchu nama minister ba kwe bali babosha kutu ma choncholi and they are toothless unless we the zedians arise and fight for what is ours. U can just see the way mulongoti reacted about the chambishi saga. when pipo get hungry, they gey angry, Bob Marley sung. Zedians need food on the table and not perpetual negotiations. when are these so called negotiations going to bring fruitfull results?

  7. Bane, this Mine must be closed at all cost. Is Chuchu waiting for another Mufulira or Chambeshi disaster to happen for him to act. Chuchu pls learn to the cries of the pipo for God’s seek and close that bloody mine b4 our God’s pipo perish for lack of your compassion.

  9. these mine is ever shared with the miners in terms of Bonuses?Can you , as an MP, Minister or President of Zambia live on a miners’ salary from one month to another ?Do you think your investors are doing justice to the Zambian Miner ?Its time the so called mine minister woke up from the slumber he or she has been in for the past God knows how long.Revamp safety measures in all the mines especially one owned by ba Choncholi and prosecute all those found wanting.Koma Mu Zambia ama politicians bali pwalala, no wonder ba mwisa batekina’ advantage!!
