KK admitted at UTH

First Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda has been admitted at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).

UTH Public Relations Officer Kennedy Makukula confirmed the development to ZANIS in Lusaka today.

Mr. Makukula said the former President was admitted yesterday around 18: 00 hours.

He said Dr. Kaunda is still admitted at the hospital adding that he is responding well to treatment and is in a stable condition.

Mr. Makukula could however not disclose the illness that has afflicted Dr. Kaunda.

  2. How come when Mwanawasa gets sick, he is flown to London, when Chiluba gets sick, he is flown to South Africa but when our first president gets sick, he is driven to UTH. Govt needs to act on this quickly.

  11. May God please grant KK additional health. Has anyone ever thought of where KK would be buried if he died, or Chiluba, or…! We need a designated burial place for former predidents!

  21. KK is a down to earth leader. I know he has the resources to fly out to any hospital in the world but instead he chooses to be admitted to UTH. If only our leaders of now could take a leaf out of KK’s book, mwanawasa and chiluba wouldn’t dream of setting foot in Zambian hospitals .

He knows he built these institutions and educated these doctors and it’s amazing he still have faith in the UTH system. Shame on Chuchu & Chiluba. Wonder how much they would save the nation’s cash if they only equipped UTH with all the necessary tools. They would stop flying to UK & SA for blood pressure check up.

Only trouble is Zambian hospitals are rundown mainly because those in leadership today have no shame of running to hospitals in other countries. What kind of leaders are these?   76. Patriot #67, I agree with you when you mention that that era patronage mattered. However, today it is different only those linked with MMD can have better treatment in the UK, SA, etc on the Government expense. The rest of us should be queuing for prescriptions at the national clinics and hospitals. Who knows probably those being taken out for treatment costs are met from another version of the ‘ZAMTROP’ account. In future, those in Govt. will be asked to account for it. There is no reason for raising the standards of national health facilities.

  98. It is alwasy easy for me to trust feloow Zambians and so I think Super Kenny loves to put his TRUST on Zambian doctors than any other.

    Just recall the Depo whatever issue that came out recently. How then can you entrust your life in someone you feel doesnt have your interest at heart. You don’t know what that person can do to your body.
