Unknown people yesterday shot dead a village headman believed to be in his 50s at Kataba Village in Chief Shezongo’s area in Itezhi-tezhi.
Itezhi-tezhi district police confirmed the death of the village headman identified as Philemon Hamatwi.
The village headman was reported to have been killed around 11:00 hours at his home.
“Yesterday around 11:00 hours we heard a gunshot near the deceased man’s house and when we rushed there, we found that the village headman had been killed and the assassins have not yet been apprehended “he said.
The murder has become the fourth reported to the police in Itezhi-tezhi. Last week, a young man of Lilanda Compound in Itezhi-tezhi, killed his uncle by axing him on the head, over a radio set.
