Serenje Man killed by suspected lunatic

Serenje Police are looking for a man believed to be a lunatic who killed 35-year old man of Kaseya’s village last Friday before running away.

And a man of Bwacha compound in Kabwe died later at Kabwe general hospital after he fell from a roof of a house he was working on.

Central Region Police Commanding Officer Simon Mpande confirmed both incidences to ZANIS in Kabwe today.

Mr Mpande named the deceased who was beaten to death by the suspected lunatic as Sandy Silavwe of Kaseya village in Chief Muchinka’s area.

He explained that the lunatic, walked to the deceased home at about 19:00 hours to ask for fire to warm himself.

Mr Mpande said when the suspect was asked for his particulars, he refused to disclose them and only said that he had come from Mkushi .

He said as the argument continued, the suspect got annoyed and picked a log which he used to hit Silavwe before pouncing on others who scampered in all directions leaving Silavwe lying in pain on the ground.

Mr Mpande explained that the suspected then descended on Silavwe whom he continued beating until he died before running away.

The police chief has since instructed police in Serenje not to rest until the lunatic was arrested adding that post-mortem of Silavwe’s body, which had since been buried, would be carried out.

Meanwhile, Richard Kapamba, 35 of house number E 16 Bwacha compound in Kabwe fell from the roof he was constructing on Saturday at about 17;00 hours.

Mr. Mpande said Kapamba was rushed to Bwacha clinic immediately where he was referred to Kabwe General Hospital where he later died..

  1. An hungry man is an angry man. With all the lunacy going on….people are frustrated and are easily provoked into rage!!

  2. # 1 Culture

Can you kill someone for asking your identity? As u can see that it was dark. He wanted to know that stranger b4 he could provider him with whta he was asking for. If you real live in uk they ask your ID in shops when you buy expensive goods. Here in Finland anything costing more than €50 paid by bank card the cashier ask for ID

Fighting to kill for ID .. shame. He might be abnormal and I think that he was an outsider, who is unknown to those villagers. MAD MAN

  3. He was lucky there was no mob to lynch him like what happened in lusaka.Zedians now kill amashilu this days…. wonder if it ma frustrations for having RB as president and the increasing inflation.
