Government condemns brutal killing of grade 12 pupil

The government has deeply condemned the killing of a grade 12 pupil of Lusaka’s Kabulonga Boys Secondary School by suspected pupils from a named school.

National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister, Godfridah Sumaili laments that what transpired in the incident involving Kabulonga Boys Secondary pupil is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

ZANIS reports that Reverend Sumaili was speaking when she paid a courtesy call on Northern Province Minister, Bwalya Chungu, in Kasama today.

“We are deeply saddened that the life of a young boy was lost in such a manner, we are appealing to the parents to ensure their children are brought up in a peaceful environment for them to be responsible citizens,” she stated.

She said upholding of Christian values should start from homes where parents are expected to instill good morals in their children.

“Training of children should start from home. Parents have a bigger role to play in the upbringing of children,” She added.

“This should not be condoned in a Christian nation and we shall not accept such conducts,” Rev Sumaili said.

A 17-year old grade 12 pupil was allegedly murdered by a group of pupils from Twin Palm Secondary School in Lusaka.

And Northern Province Minister Chungu Bwalya echoed the need for concerted effort in fighting violence.

  1. This killing was probably by accident and stupidity and should be condemned by all peace loving Zambians.

But what surprises me is the force with which this jobless minister comes out to condemn while she keeps mute on brutal and premeditated killings of the innocent political opponents and citizens some of whom died during the gassing perpetrated by her own party. Is this not madness and hypocrisy?

  2. Wise words from the minister, but the ministry still remains irrelevant. Salvation is personal, to save the little resources the country is remaining with, this ministry is supposed to be a directorate under some ministry and not a fully fledged ministry. This ministry is now more involved with dressing of citizens and foreigners

  3. It is you the politicians with your machete violence culture that are setting a bad bad example to these pupils. They are beginning to see that there are benefits in violence where publicly known violent cadres freely flaunt their “wealth” gotten out of their criminal activity.

  4. When Lusaka province is lead by gang leader? Just recently the public forced Kaizer Zulu from state house due to violent crimes.

  5. Watching Idi Amin’s rule in Uganda documentary on CCTV, I now realise how we the ruled make Dictators out of seemingly good people. History will be very interesting to read about Lungu’s misrule of this country.

  6. This has hurt me. As a father to a young handsome man, what can I do to protect him ? Should I buy him a gun? Sad world we live in

  7. Ministry of National Guidance, Religion and Affairs is really dubious mwe. Some matters could be the purview of Home Affairs. Kaya mwandini mwe. Olo uja m’kazi Katongo waku kapokola could have easily told us these things … olo mwina a olofeya cabe.

  8. What do you expect when PF cadres are armed to the teeth and are always spilling blood of innocent citizens

  9. This a country were thuggery is worshipped, what is the minister’s stance on musicians like chanda na kay singing about ama dega notusembe(knifes and axes)? and which parent allows his sons and daughters to sit on his couch in his living room and allow them to play such music.

  10. The PF Govt has again provided an example to our young children hw to injure & kill innocent people. It is now spreading like fire from PF thugs, one of the reasons TAKAPITE!!!

  11. A country should tailor its ministries to address the pressing problems of citizens and to nurture national skills. It should not create ministries from peripheral issues. Like we need a ministry of homegrown agricultural businesses. Not agriculture but one to promote agricultural enterprises from tuntemba to Zambeef. It should focus on stuff like Agricultural Financial planning services Financing and start up advice and facilitation Growth management plans. We also need a ministry to similarly harness the arts and cultural industries which have a potential to ease unemployment and bring in forex.

  13. No one’s child deserves to die. The question is what is the law enforcement doing about the students that killed him? Will they be allowed to just walk scout free while his parents have lost a child?

  14. @Polytricks you always speak sensible stuff. Can’t you come back to Zed and join one of these ailing opposition parties? You could energize them and we could have a new government next year.

  15. In the words of King Henry II of England in 1179 – ” Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest ” ? Three of his knights obliged and Thomas a’Becket was killed in Canterbury Cathedral… Who will rid me of this useless God-Less- Fridah ?
