Mugabe risks going down in history as Oppressor-Mulongoti

Share

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe risks going down in history as a leader who refused to give up power and oppressed his people, Zambian Information Minister Mike Mulongoti said on Saturday.

In an interview with AFP TV, Mulongoti at first paid tribute to Mugabe for “standing up against colonialism” and winning independence for the former Rhodesia in 1980.

“But now you cannot transplant colonialism for oppression. If you oppress people, what’s the difference between you and the colonialists?

“So, I do not know whether — when we write history books — he shall go in the history books as our hero or we should begin to cast doubt as to whether the services he’s supposed to have rendered he took away himself by overstaying and doing certain things that were unacceptable in a civilised world.”

Zambia was one of the first countries to openly criticise Mugabe, who was sworn in on Sunday for a sixth term after elections denounced as a “farce” by the opposition and Western leaders.

  1. Well said Mulongoti, but we need real information about the other matter. Bob is the least of our concerns right now. LT, didn’t this AFP TV ask about LPM?

  2. mr mugabe is time is over so soon his own close bootlickers will stand against him and Zim shall be freed. He shall be remember as a person who brought suffering to beautiful land Big Stone. He shall surely remember the bad things he has implanted in the people of Zim.Plse UN press more presure to this fellow and surely charge him of killing innocent people from hunger.

  3. Anther careless talk about Zim,pliz Zim is not our problem and so is Congo and the like’s.Mugabe’s relationship to Zambia has been a cold one from the KK days right upto the Chiluba era and talking about it now is waste of time and probably Zed resources.Britain knows better and playing the game, so why bother they have the money and we don’t.When Brother BOB is pushed too far he will just shut the boarders and build the Hydro power statoion just before the Victoria falls. And all the efforts of the GRZ will be nailed down ,so be very carefull how you handle BOB’s issues.

  4. Hey, this Mugabe is responsible for LPM being in the situation he is and to even discuss him without shedding more light on LPM is giving this old fool in Zim some mileage. Mulongoti you have better things to discuss, and old Mugabe had a farm, zimba zimbabwe shouldnt take priority, ai?

  5. Mugabe is just senile, do not waste time and energy discussing his oppressive legacy, every dog has its day and Bob’s is just around the corner.

  6. some stupidity – guys lets keep our nose clean. A weak Zim in the interim is in our best interest anyway. Lets utilise/take their competitive advantage. When Zim turns the Brits and Americans will abandon Zed – its an open secret in the UK that MPs at Westminister have been buying assets in Zim on the hope that this last election Bob would have gone. Lets not fool ourselves, we have more pressing and immediate things to worry about…like who takes over from LPM

  7. I am following all this world news trail with interest now than ever before.

  8. Ok Mulongoti tell us something we dont know.Like whats the truth over LPM!!!Concentrate on more important issues. The people of Zambia are not interested in Bob at the moment.

  9. why are the doctors in france not allowed to hold a press conference and tell us what is happening to our president? this thing is so managed that we cannot believe anybody.

  10. Mugabe is a sinking Ship for sure.Remember Kamuzu the terrible,he was almost assassinated by one of his most loyal bodyguards.
    Food for thought.

  11. well LPM lives hospital Mulongoti,Kabinga will be sacked, coz the big man does not like incompetent chaps.

  12. Ayi ba Mulongoti tell us something, history has already been written for Mugabe, he will go down as the worst President pnly after Idi maybe he may even be worse that Idi Amin, but mwalanda fye bwion ba Minister, you attributed him for his role as a liberation fighter.

  13. Mulongoti is talking too much and very soon, he will be like nervus mumba or VJ. If u talk too much, it means your exit is closer. He should not talk about political situations in other countries, just to make a name. Nervus mumba and master dribbler vernon mwanga were fired for talking about DRC. So mulongoti, u should be carefull with your loud mouth and lies.

  14. Mulongoti mind your own business leave Zimbabwe alone. You will never contribute anything good to this continent. You are an embarassment to our nation.

  15. Mr. Minister for information please shut up, this is too much for him.We do not need to spend alot of time on Zim, Bob did not listen.Leave them alone, they will find what they are looking for.
    Mr. Minister, out.

  16. WHY HAS THIS CHAP(MULONGOTI) BECOME TOO VOCAL ALL OF A SUDDEN,KEEP YOUR CLEVER AND UGLY MOUTH SHUT.WHAT HAS MUGABE’S FOOLISHNESS GOT TO DO WITH YOUR UGLY FAMILY.WASAMWA SANA,WAIT FOR LEVY COZ I KNOW HE CANNOT CONDONE YOUR UNBAPTISED UTTERANCES,AND I DONT THINK YOU HAVE RESPECT FOR RB.MAYBE ULEFWAYA MUGABE AKWASUKE,PANTU ULEMUTENDEKAFYE WE PUSHI WE.

  17. Mr. Minister, when is LPM coming home and improve on pure coverage info, because i pay it does not show for me.

  18. # 6 pompwe mushibila’nsala
Zimbabwe is our problem as it is botswanas and SA and mozambques.
All neighbouring countries are suffering becuse of mugabe.
Xenophobic attacks in SA on all foreigers including zambians are because of Zimbabwe. Mulongoti is trumpeting the goverment line. Mugabe has outlived his service to Zim and Africa.
It is a black mark on other countries who keep quite. How is surpporting democracy in Africa being helped by turning a blind eye to blatant violations of mordern principles..

  19. Plz leave mulongoti alone. He is right 2talk about mugabe the oppresor, killer and the worst dictator everseen on earth. This is the stand of Our GVT on mugabe. Huts off mr minister! How is levy 2day????

  20. #7Miss Pretty you’ve hit the point and atually to add on chi Mugabe and other irresponsible leaders like Mbeki are partly to blame for our prsident’s current condition. Its better for Mulongoti not to even waste time talking about those thieves.I believe we have a lot of issues that are worth discussing in Zambia than entering into other people’ businesses.Mulongoti should style up or else his behavior will bring more questions than answers as to why he is running away from Levy’s matter.

  21. Mulongoti what is your problem, stop provoking Bob we are not intrested in what you are saying. Our President is in hospital, the best you can do now as govt spokes person is to keep people abreast of what is happening in France, and above all this is the best time to unite the nation. You must understand that what you are saying will reach Mugabe and he will answer.Obviously his answer will not be good and that answer will reach the ears of our president in hospital, dont you think that can worsen the presidents condition. Please sir stop this cold war,we are not in support.TWAKANA

  22. The only benefit from Zimbabwe are cheap prostitutes. I think Stanely Mulongoti is benefiting a lot from these prostitutes.

  23. Hon mulongoti the nation is more concern with the presidents health at the moment.Stop distracting the public attention with Mugabe rhetoric. We expect you to brief the nation whether the president is still alive or not. Please as a minister you should know your priorites. The Mugabe issue has been around for the past 10years so the can wait.Mr minister please wake up !!!!!!!

  24. In a given opportunity to prove leadership ability while H.E is in recovery, Hon.Mulongoti has dangerously exposed himself as a reckless cadre on the international stage. No Diplomacy, no trait of leadership in Presidential foreign Policy Politics.Instead, he has hurt President Mwanawasa as Chairman of SADC whose difficult position demands neutrality in dispute resolution. He has just sabotaged the chairman’s office in finding a political solution in Zimbabwe. Zambia cannot afford such entanglements. Our handles are full with pressing domestic issues.

  25. Just out of interest does anyone know what qualifications Mulongoti holds?or if he went to the same school as VJ and Nevers Mumba coz these chaps pr is crap and always got themselves in problems they could not solve.

  26. Latest: Morgan has refusesd to attend talks being organised by Mbeki, that is the way to go, and he further says, because Mbeki is biased towards Mugabe and the condition Mugabe has put that they should attend talks after they acknowledge he is President. By the way why is Mbeki mediating, is there a crisis now in Zim? And you guys think you have leaders? Who says Money can buy wisdom? Ain’t we over estimating this gentleman whose only experience was to be in exile, not leader of Government.

  27. This mulongoti chap is just a cadre and I wonder if he has any professional qualification. He is digging his own grave. Instead of keeping quiet and praying for our beloved leader, ali busy ukulabosa. Wait for HE LPM(SC) and you will see your exit door.

  28. I think there is confusion as to who should issue statements on Zimbabwe, the problem we face now is that in what capacity is Mulongoti issuing the statement, because AFP have not disclosed, I thought Ministry of Foreign Affairs should have been the ones since they understand foreign policy better. What a Government.

  29. Mulongiti the liar should stop deviating our minds from the major – LPM’s illness. Think twice about attacking Mugabe because their media can destroy you.

  30. No wonder we are where we are as a country coz of chaps like mulongoti who are only interested in appearing on TV to issue reckless statements.

  31. This is a very dangerous route Hon. Minister. It is neither the ruling MMD party nor central Government foreign policy.Lets be like Japan and China in foreign policy. Anything else you don’t understand, ask senior citizens, experts and founding father on the ideal foreign policy. Let our national interest take precedence over your cadre zeal. With such dangerous blunders, I will not support you in your overzealous route of self destruction. I presume you are appeasing outsiders while circumstantially positioning yourself in the party. That strategy is a null hypothesis.Stop it or we stop you.

  32. look at his mouth (mulongoti) on the picture above kwati alelya inshonkonono. U can even tell from his lips that he is a liar.

  33. #6,you are my pal!Why should we have ministers disrespecting leaders of our neighbouring countries lkie this? Two days ago it was Kabinga ,now its Mike,do not run away from our main concern now-the true state of our president. No diversionary tactics will work here,Zimbabwe is for Zimbabweans, you have a terminally ill president and you want to be the spokesman for Makorekore.Ubepelefye mike, stick on Zebbige’s health, and the truth ka.

  34. Please can we have the latest information on LPM and results of the medical examination taken the other day- as earlier pointed out by others Mugabe is not our concern- mugabe did not say he is going to war with zambia- he was speaking in general so let our leaders keep out of this- and concentrate on praying for the president.

  35. Which leader is good then, please name him or her.Dont tell you like those who started war in Iraq.
Remember this was what was said.
    1 weapon of mas destruction.
    2 Linked to al qaeda.
    3 Gassed his own people
    4 His a dictator.
Now they are going after Iran with the same lies.People wake up.

  36. Mr Mulongoti, I think you are way in above your head here. Whatever happens, no matter what Mugabe goes down as in history, Mr Mulongoti will never be half the man Mugabe is. He will never liberate a country; never be knighted by a queen; never fight guellira war and most remotely run a country as well as Mugabe once did. Yes, Mugabe’s policies have now gone to the dogs and he is not half the African legend he once was, but you Mr Mulongoti, should not tread the waters just because you are aiming to take over from Mwanawasa. Ease up and slow down. The highest office you have ever achieved is that of an appointment by the president and you have never faced an election. Focus on Zambia

  37. And since Ba Bob Mugabe nabakalipa,if he were to launch a war palifwe, what weapons do you have iwe Mulongoti.Nizaulula the true state of your mediocre army.Yes Zimbabwe may be under sanctions now but they are by far more advanced militarily than us.Talk of Mig 39s,a mechanised Brigade,an Armour Brigade,War Veterans, hmmm imwe muzatiletelela. Nobukuwe ubutwakwata.

  38. This is the biggest mess we got now,my fellow country men and women,Zambia is now on Auto Pilot. There is no one in charge, every minister is waffling.Come new constitution,Veep should be a running mate and not tuma nominated tuntembas of mps.

  39. In the name of our revered Zambia we implore you to Stop it or we systematically stop you endangering us.Look to the through the Luapula through North Western’s borderlines, Western’s kalabo, shang’ombo through Kapriv strip borderline, Feira through Tete province borderline and finally look at Zimbabwean borders beisdes internal political dynamics of sectionalism and localism. We are a pressure cooker too vulnerable in all dimension.Zambians hate unjustified suffering. stop it now.

  40. Seriously in the name of our revered Zambia, we implore you to Stop it or we systematically stop you endangering us beyond this.Look from Luapula through North Western’s borderlines, Western province’s kalabo, shang’ombo through Kapriv strip borderlines, Feira through Tete province borderlines and finally look at the Zimbabwean border besides our realistic internal political dynamics of sectionalism and localism. We are a pressure cooker too vulnerable in all dimensions.Zambians hate unjustified suffering. stop dragging us in it now for your political selfishness. If its not in our national interest its in your miscalculated interest. you are so clueless in the balance of power.

  41. There is no way that Zimbabwe is better equipped than us militarily.Forget such illusions. The fact that Zambia has not been fighting stupid wars doesnt make us inferior to Zimbabwe.Zambian solders who have served in Mozambique,Rwanda, Sieera Lone would tell you how they are rated in Africa.Dont be cheated. Just because you have this enferior complex you are exhibiting here too.Do you remember Gen Zuze, You chaps when are you going to have confidence in your own selves. If you dont know just keep quiet.zambia can crash Zimbabwe within days.If you doubt me ask Sout african boers who tested fights with zambian soldiers

  42. Mulongoti wants to make himself popular so that when he reveals his presidential ambitions, he hopes to get some support. Zambia is on auto pilot, he knows after we have a new gov’t he will be no more so he is making the best of his time as gov’t mouthpiece. He is advertising himself.

  43. Ya i have seen your points guys. Let mr mulongoti avoid talking about mugabe bcoz he is currently under some sanctions. So bob can just attack any country to show westeners of his madnes and his newly imported war weapons. Plz let us hear about our levy.

  44. Remember that Zambia has hosted more refugees in the region than any other country. They way things are going in Zimbabwe we might just need to expand our refugee camp. Bostwana is complaining because of too many illigal immigrants from Zimbabwe south africa cant handle them and they want to share the trouble with Zambia.
We must stop Mugabe for the benefit of the region and mostly our region. Zambia is were it is today bacause of such people in the region. We had to host refugees from congo, Mozambique and Angola. We had to host and help the freedom fighters from S. africa, Zimbabwe, tanzania, angola etc. We have spent so much money on helping others and now its time to think for zambia.

  45. Its not wrong to speak against mugabe and no one should be scared to noting the wrong things he has done. Zimbabwes problems are affecting Zambia and the enttire region.

But Mulongoti I dont think its wise of you to say such things about Zimbabwe and bob in your capacity as information minister. Its just stupid of you to do so. waist for your sucking when levy returns from france.

  46. The Government, at least you have spoken. Those are good words of concern, but which Government ? For clarity’s sake change your name.

  47. chillis #53:the first thing you should understand is that there is a HUGE difference between peacekeeping and launching an offensive strike and engaging in war with a neighbor. furthermore, these days war is often less about the “quality” of the soldier and more about the quality of the toys (bombs, airplanes, missiles, ammunitions, etc). when our quality zambian soldiers go elsewhere for peacekeeping you should also remember they are supplied by UN and other parties (i mean please my brother i think everyone remembers our zambian soldiers showing up without boots!). in a war situation it would be ourselves securing necessary armaments/supplies. that is a massive undertaking…

  48. Hmm,my friend # 53,for your own information i was part of those that served in Rwanda (1995) and Sierra Leone (2000),was POW under Foday Sanko’s Revolutionary United Front(Ruf). So do not challange my military experience. What do you mean being rated?Being voted ONE OF THE MOST DISCIPLINED UN peace keepers does not make you strong military. You have no slight idea about war,so i beg you to leave that area of debate and stick to what you know better, militarism is my food OLD CHAP!

  49. Us who have seen the devastating effects of war, freeze at the thought of it.Its such an uninformed and misguided talk that sparkled the Iran-Iraq war of the 80s.

  50. Zimbabwe’s army is better armed, trained and skilled than the Zambian army…. Please dont cheat yourselves!

  51. Gentlemen, please for our Nations sake dont expose your ignorance about what you dont know. Just advise the people concerned to decist from making those provocative statements which will jeopardise our security with our neighbouring countries. Our country is so precious to loose this peace which we are enjoying. You dont know what war is and what it can do.
Infact those same people will be the first ones to run away when the first Bullet is fired. Dont and please stop it now.

  52. #63: ‘dont expose your ignorance about what you dont know’ even if I went to chibolya basic school were the teacher used to cum twice a week that is some wrong english for gods sake…. you are repeating yourselves…. sinply saying ‘dont expose your ignorance’ is enough….

  53. Yeap,Hon’ Mulogoti our Leader, why not forget talking about Zim and Uncle Robert and just concentrate on prayers and seeing how Zambia is gonna forge ahead in various sectors of the economy. At least we can say Uncle Bob is a bad man but we can also say Uncle is not a kinda guy who feels inferior to any one or any race.He at least is not a soft bone.
I hope anyone whose gonna take over from him at any right shall never be an underdog or a pulpet.
Also look at the village the chochos showed today as Zambian pipo crying for LPM and him landing pa airport.SO embarrassing and disgusting negative reports about Zambia from the so called Friends, why not talk about issues that directly affect Zambia?

  54. Why not tell the chochos to show the real Zambia and not refugee camps?
Lets look at our country first. What are we gaining from critising the zim leadership? Why do we use the media?Lets face him directly.Nothing wrong about it.Not tell the chocholi to stop showing the land they call barren and evil,,,more evil than it is,then we shall learn to know that you are heros in that no African Leader has ever questioned them in any ways.
While our ties are getting stronger and stronger.God bless the Barren and evil land.

  55. Zambia gets $2bn investment
Zambia will this month alone achieve investment exceeding $2 billion.

Commerce Minister Felix Mutati said this Saturday during the official opening of this year’s International Trade Fair in the Copperbelt Province town of Ndola.

And government has signed investment promotion and protection agreements with foreign companies represented at this year’s Zambia International Trade Fair.

The government has also signed Memorandum of Understanding -MOU’s- with some local companies.

Mr. Mutati signed on behalf of the Zambian government.

    What is in these agreements????

  56. #53 Chills and Mulongoti please shut. Bob is the one who is actually itching for a fight. He has nothing to lose. And Molongoti’s provocations provide the fodder. We have enough problems of our own schools hospitals shanty compounds etc

#35 Mwiinga. Mbeki is a shareholder in Mugabe’s DRC diamond/gold mines. As a shareholder he has a duty to ensure Mugabe stays in power so that their minig operations can continue. He is actually abusing the AU mandate and in turn the mandate that SADC has given him to resolve the zim crisis. And some people want to blame this mess/greed/lack principles/corruption at the highest level on colonialism and the West

  57. Shushushu[71], right on, my brother. There is too much Malawian weed on the Zambian market, and the effects manifest themselves on this blog…

  58. In the 1990’s, the US used Kuwait to provoke Saddam. He swallowed the bait and invaded. The rest is history. It appears to me that they are now using Zambia and Botswana to bait ‘Mad Dog’ Mugabe. If he decides to invade Zambia or Botswana, Zimbabwe will go up in flames. However, I don’t think Mugabe is that stupid. Besides, his soldiers are too malnourished to fight. I know our soldiers are not exactly well fed, but I am sure our government will be able to get a few rations from their backers. Seriously, Mulongoti’s statement is a non-event.

  59. Good point #73 but let me correct you on Mugabe soldiers ,if there is any one in that country who are well fed is Mugabe soldiers and their Generals. They are the ones still keeping Mugabe in power

  60. This is what we TV comedy writers call a nonversation – where people attempt to have a comversation over rubbish.

  61. #59,#60#70
I am surprised that you guys thibnk the zambian army is rubbish and you expose such unfounded opinion on a public media. What do you know about the Zimbabwean Army?If you dont trust your own army then i will nerver know who can trust.I am aware that peace keeping force is different from the main stream war scenario.Did you read where i refered you to the Afrikaner Soldiers who actually dread facing the zambian army while they belive they can overun any one in the reagion.I know the Zambian Army boots or no boots it will be very very difficult for them to lose against Zimbabwean soldiers even if the4y wanted to.
I dont care what any one says, i stick to my point as i know v.well

  62. You guys that are scared of Zimbabwe go ahead but dont expect any of us to as cowardly as you are.We are ready for anything to save and serve our mather Zambia. It seems most of mulifi choni in Zambia from Zimbabwe. If you are afraid dont expect us to be scared too. There is inferiority complex amongst most of you but not most of us who have trained highly in England,USA and Russia. Some have trained in Pakistan and Israel. So you are in safe hands just keep quiet.
However i dont support what Mulongoti is saying.Zimbabwe should sort out their own problems.Mulongoti’s remarks should have beeb said by R.Banda in the absence of LPM

  63. #77: i never said the zambian soldiers were weak – what i was speaking about was the difference between warfare and peacekeeping and the difference between the kinds of supplies/ammunitions zambia can afford to expend on such an “adventure”. i do however find your choice of words and general tone quite disturbing…you call those of us who caution on going to war “cowards” and say we are afraid??? i say only someone who doesn’t understand war advocates for it. perhaps you are one of those far far away who will never feel the effects of such a war and you can sit there offering to sacrifice your brothers/sisters, but not yourself. it’s not about fear, its about reason and rationality

  64. #72: i think i’ll need ALOT of that malawian weed if Chills gets sworn in as zambian president and we find ourselves at war with all our neighbors just to prove he’s “strong”. i’ll just have to relax in the shade and smoke, just waiting to be blown.

  65. Bob’s millitary battle victories have always been with the help of either Zed or Angola. Angola seems ready to aid him if either Bots or Zed resolved to remove him by millitary action, and neither is Zed nor Bots capable of going head to head with Angola, Africa’s 4th largest and well eqiuped army.

But let’s just let Zim and him be. Our own leadership crisis is wanting…AFP should have interviewed Mulongoti about LPM, and not Bob.

  66. # 72. Analyst, yah it must be the malawi gold flodding the market. Have you seen ,they are now arguing about who hasent got boots and whos commandos are hungry..

  67. Be careful with Britain and America. They have failed in the Iraq, Afghanstan, Somalia and world over. They use sofiscated tactics to convice leaders. They have been trading and ‘donating’ funds to African countries for too long. Non of these countries can claim liberation. There is still high level dependance. Now they are using careless people like Mulongoti( The man is not even exposed). Only wise men like Mugabe knows them better. The situation in Zimbabwe can happen to any African country that opposes the policies of Britain and America. Use your brains, you chaps.

  68. You guys let us concentrate on praying for our President. Pse in the name of God dont insult each other

  69. It is my understanding that Mr Mulongoti, as minister of information and broadcasting as well as Chief govt spokesman is responsible for disseminating info on matters that are pertinent to the nation. The President’s health and status at this time is one such pertinent matter dear to Zambians. That is your urgent responsibility Mike, not to duplicate the minister of foreign affairs or V.P.both of whom can speak on Robert when need be.Mike Mulongoti, is the President alive and what is the immediate prognosis on his future? Please do your job!

  70. Zambian President calls for public-private partnership

LUSAKA, July 6-Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa has called for public-private partnership to expediently develop infrastructure of his country, according to Sunday mail.In a speech read on his behalf on Saturday in Ndola, the capital of Copperbelt province, the president said in the past the private sector was key in infrastructure development and that this could be done again.Speech was read at the opening of 44th Zambia International Trade Fair in the city.

  71. The president said that for instance the main railway line running from Living stone in southern Zambia to Copperbelt was not developed by the government but by the private sector just over 100 years ago.He said the government was looking for partners to develop dry ports and air cargo hubs in the country. The president said previously Zambia had a problem of being a landlocked country but now the country was taking advantage of its location in the middle of the sub-continent to be the center of all trade routes in the region.

  72. “For many years to come, the cheapest route from the eastern to the western coast of this part of Africa and vice-versa is potentially via Zambia especially once we have been connected to Angola. This is why we are looking for partners to develop inland and dry ports as well as air cargo hubs,” he said. The president said the infrastructure needs of the country cannot be satisfied by the government alone and the government had provided a framework for the private sector to participate in the provision of infrastructure.

  73. It appears that we need more prayers for Zambia as a country and nation as much as we do the the President.

Please, brethren let us look to the good Lord God, our Creaotor, for guidence and help in these difficult times – of the end

  74. I can’t understand your levels of ignorance you are exhibiting on Zimbabwe issues. Any scheme designed by the west is well accepted by people like you who first use their mouth before adquate research on respective issues. The west will continue using the willy Lynch theory for the next 300 years “google the willy lynch speech”. The problems caused in Zimbabwe can manifest in any country going outside the wishes of the west. Morgan is the one who has fueled the problems in Zim, have you ever heard him, talk against sanctions? Do you understand the “Zimbabwe democratic bill” which was passed in 2001 in the USA? Do you know that AIDS patients in Zim get $4 when in the rest of the world is $74?

  75. It appears that we need more prayers for Zambia as a country and nation as much as we do the the President.

Please, brethren let us look to the good Lord God, our Creator, for guidance and help in these difficult times – of the end

  76. Ba Mulongoti isaleniko icinwa twapapapta ifyo mushishibe mwilaisula icinwa plz mwalatuletelela.

  77. The IMF and World Bank’s Sanctions
Both the IMF and the World Bank suspended balance of payments to Zimbabwe in 1997 after the government gave gratuities to ex-combatants. This is despite the fact that they had been assured that money would not come from investment funds, but from a package of tax increases and spending cuts.

    The “Zimbabwe Democracy Bill” (2001)
The introduction of the “Zimbabwe Democracy Bill” by the US in 2001 set to entrench the financial starvation of Zimbabwe, which the IMF had been sporadically engaging in.

Now who should take the blame for the millions suffering in Zimbabwe? Mulongoti,SHUT UP or else u risk havin a stroke!!

  78. #85 is right, the usa and uk are just using Zambia so that they can go back to Zim(farms)
Dont be fooled by them.Where were they in the 80s?Calling kk a dicator and Mugabe their partner.Wake up people.
They have no interests in Zambia but they interests are in Zimbabwe(which is according to them the white man`s country).
Remember we were eating tobomutwe(bread)and drinking TIP TOP in the 80`s.Where were usa and uk?Please wake up.

  79. I dont advocate war. There is no Zambian who is a war monger but at the same time if forced into war i will go for it.No zambian has indicated any thing near to war.I have not pin pointed any one but i can confirm to any one that cowardice is not my cup of tea.I am also very confident of my country’s army.I never by any means hope to fight Zimbabwe unless forced to.I will never praise another country at the expense of mine NO NO.I am too patriotic for that.So no aurgument here

  80. Zimbabwe, like Kenya and unlike Zambia, was a settler colony one consequence of which was U.D.I. in Zim and Mau Mau in Kenya, both violent and ethnic cleansing episodes. The two have always been viewed in a different if fovoured light by the Brits and US cos they envision them in that settler status regardless of what the locals think. That explains why theie paths to independence were violent and their post colonial elections equally violent, corrupt with fake run offs. Thus both are not yet off limits to the west and the worst is yet to come.We as a nation can only learn from them and take care of our own business. We pray for LPM.

  81. #99. I very much understand your patriotism. While I am not interested in war issues, I think we have to be proud of our country and have confidence in the GRZ. Whatever, our situation and position, there is no need and time to be cowards. We have demonstrated and maintained that we are interested in peace and rule of law.
Let us now concentrate all our efforts to developing our country – Zambia – in all categories needed especially infrastructure as indicated in the news from the trade fair by the President through the Veep.
Lets put our trust in God, He will surely answer our prayers as a nation in the our best interest according to His perfect Will.

  82. 101 agree and respect your views.we are Zambians and there is only one Zambia for us.We should be proud of it and lets be ready serve it whenever need be

  83. You guys that are trying to be sounding that Zambia is weaker than Zimbabwe are sellouts like Chiluba exposing the tunnels. What harm will it do if you were simply to keep quiet?I belive in My Zambia

  84. Zambia and Zimbabwe are one “country.” Please detest every ugly utterance that wants to put a wedge between the two countries and always remember “Icili pa munobe ecili napaliwe.” Mr. Minister do not be careless in your talk. Remember that is how that MMD cadre did before after seeing off LMP making Zim think of Zambia as an accomplish.

  85. #105 I agree. If we went to the village and told them that our President got a sick and stopped talking after travelling to go and speak against Zimbabwe’s government they would have said it is a bad omen and we should stop talking against zimbabwe.

  86. Chills # 53 & 104,

You are such a dreamer in your ignorance. I see you are using kindergartens level schemes to force professionals into unethical debates on this wrong platform. You are clueless that the domain is visited and driven by vested professional from renowned war colleges who served the country at strategic levels of statecraft. You could show patriotism by bringing up issues you know about than what grazes your head off.

  87. Zambia is in bad shape period.President Mwanawasa has done a lot of good in restoring morale and capacity, but the damage over the 10 wasted years were beyond short term recovery.Do you know that your friend make own

-carbines, AK-47s, land-mines, limpet mines, mortars, hand grenades, pistols,crew-served mortars, anti-tank rockets,
    and a variety of ammunition?

  88. Mugabe doesn’t care about history or what he will be labeled as. All he cares about is avoidance of imprisonment in present time.

  89. # 104 is right. Even if LPM is down at the moment. We have a defined policy towards Zimbabwe, lets continue pressing Bob.. Let’s avoid a power vacuum..

  90. Here is my advice: Mr Mulongoti you’re overstepping the international norms of diplomacy. We have said enough already and the international community has listened. So why this obsession over Mugabe now? Let me hang on his own. The UN and SADC asked him to suspend run-off elections but he rebuffed all of us. So what’s the point now? Let’s see how the “African Solution” will emerge under the mediation of Mr Mbeki.

NOTE: Other SADC countries don’t think his place in history will be ANATHEMA. So: your comments are subjective and mischievous as a minister. Leave those basic comments to us,the bloggers. Stay out of this and keep to diplomatic etiquette. YOU ARE FIRED!!

  91. Bob won`t give in to the west(Bliar and his gay govermnt)
    they are wasting there time.
I will miss him if he goes.

  92. Line three in #111 should read: “let him hang on his own.”
Last line in #111 is unequivocal: You are fired, on behalf of LPM.

  93. Besides a myriad of challenges, it will help you to swallow the bitter pill if and only if you could understand that ideological wars that go guerrilla withdrawing from the capital centers are the most dangerous. That those Veteran Guerrillas and their regional pro liberation era allies would do.Under such, Air power superiority has no room for victory.Such wars only inflict mass collateral damage to life and infrastructure.Ask the other Blogger who has revealed that he served in Sierra Leon. I was there too on 10 month peace mission. I walked over countless bodies at the peak of Foday Sanko and the Executive outcomes madness. With our Ghettos you would see hell.

  94. War is bad it chooses no target. You could be the first one to either lose all your family, village or own life. amputated, eyes pricked out, your mother raced in your face or you ordered to rape and mutilate her at gun point.Orders are by sign language. Zambia cannot afford those nightmares.A normal person would not dream it.

  95. Govt traces man behind rumour of Levy’s death

Government has traced the man suspected to have started the rumour in South Africa last Thursday that President Levy Mwanawasa had died.

Next is Chintofwa, France LT and Confused “Zulu”

  96. Mugabe is funny, it’s like he wants to cause trouble. He could have passed some laws in parliament to get rid of white farmers without sending violent gangs, he could have done something earlier to keep himself in power and avoided this situation he is currently in with all the eyes of the world on him. If he had played a better game people might still be thinking he is some kind hero. If his actual people and country was his concern he would done it differently. One has to conclude that the years in control have made him even more of drama queen. He just wants attention and doesn’t care how he gets it. I feel sorry for all those good Zim people.

  97. Mulongoti … what’s this nonsense about Mugabe’s songs and history when we are in desperate need to know where our Mwanawasa is?
And for those you trying compete and argue about what and how you know your very own defense system; I’m glad to note your jokes are pathetic; because you don’t start exposing strength of your father publicly. You are on the Internet, for God’s sake (International highway) and busy exposing the under-pants of the shield that has maintained your peace all your lives! Better argue about other things …or even ‘eggs’ if you fall at a loss of a topic.

  98. Ladies & Gentlemen.

FYI. Bob knows what he is talking about. He is friends with Angola, DRC, South Africa, Rwanda etc. These are seasoned fighters. There is no way Angola will watch Zed or Botswan attack Zim. Remember our relation with Angola & DRC is still fragile. I know that a number of you guys a better informed regarding Bobs security, if it were managed by Zimos, he would have been history by now…. Any attempt to attack Zim must take into consideration how Angola, SA & DRC will react. Zambia is exposed and i do not think it will be a wise thing to do.

  99. 118 Contd
…do you know who could be reading this and what strategies they’d push forth? Do you know what message this is sending to the rest of the world about our sweet ZED? Do you even know where each one of us is accessing this blog from? Be rest assured that you may just be providing substantial information to your potential enemy. Please, learn to keep the state secrets out of such open platforms …the same way most of us detested the exposure of the State house!

  100. Mugabe should never have been treated as a heroe at all. Those who have lived in zimbabwe, like myself, know that the well spoken rogue waged a ruthless war against the supporters of Joshua nkhomo in matebeleland. in Plumtree (south of Bulawayo)for inst one can still find people whose lips were cut for not reveling where the Nkhomo supporters were hiding or for revealing where his (mugabe’s) supporters were hiding. he has been as ruthless a bastard as he is now. well reflected Mulongoti…at least here. however, prepare yourself for some venom filled response from the old rascal. and by the way, zimbabweans and the rest of us africans do not eat and live on heroism.

  101. Zimbabwe is a sinking ship as it way and at 85 riddled with neuro-psyphillis, it would be most unwise to start a war with Mugabe. It clear the man is very angry and wants to die, which I have no qualms with. However, he now seems hell bent on taking not only Zimbabwe to the grave but the entire SADC. By the way, its the ANC that controls parliament and not Mbeki who is just a lame duck afrer losing the ANC presidence to a Zulu warrior called Zuma who hates Mugabe and wants him for dead. The ANC in parliament would never authorise their army to side with Mugabe, never.

  102. well said sipopa #124. shame on this guy. # 126, lpm is not a sinking titanic. he is dying and be that as it may, his legacy is a hundred fold better than that of mugay or is he called mugabe?

  103. #82,thanx Mulongoti and the rest who wants so much blood spiled between us and our zim brothers are crazy, zim people have done nothing wrong to us,i further advise mulongoti and those who seam hungry for war to go to zim mailo and get mugabe themselves, see if they will succeed

  104. # 34, Nevers mumba went to Hillcrest secondary school. I did go to Hillcrest and my capacity and that of all TECH sugos to judge on issues is different and a lot better than that of the pastor. RESPECT FOR HILLCREST iwe maambala.

  105. Bob is not only going to go into history as an oppressor but if he keeps pushing it he will end up like Saddam.

  106. Let Bob be woman handled by hiss hungry army, moreover they say Gov´t now know who srpead the romours bout the death story. Don´t complainers,we re Zambia one so me gwan for my day.

  107. Compare the profiles of Tsvangirai and Mugabe. You will understand why Britain and USA are supporting him. Tsvangirai never even completed G12. The British and Americans have seen a loop hole in him. Now, they are using another puppet by the name of Mulongoti to discredit Mugabe. This is the problem of over dependence on the Western counties. By the way, they will never develop your countries, whether you like it or not. You will perpetually remain a slave.

  108. “Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe” You Editor of LT tell me does SADC and AU recognise Mugabe as a President or not?

  109. GRZ stance on Zimis very clear.. Zim is in crisis and requires urgent resolution. Mulongoti is not saying anything different. He is just amplifying the stance. I’m suprised that we have Zambians supporting Madman Mugabe. We need to fight and stop Mugabe now. Otherwise we risk other African countries getting the same dictatorship tool-box from Mugabe. This is not good for devepoment that our continent needs. It is just sad that AU has lost its credibility and will be respected to resolve African problems. the African People, UNa and world are disappointed by the AU. How I wish LPM was able to contribute to AU deliberation. May be the outcome could have been diferent

  110. How much has Mulongoti been paid by the Rhodies and their sympathisers to start turning the heat on Mugabe?

I am disappointed that Mulongoti is stocking fires while LPM is in coma and could be brain dead as we speak. Why not simply ignore Zimbabwe until the dust settles once the main parties start talking to each other within Zimbabwe?

Finally, who cares about history in Zambia anyway, when the evidence is clear that the LPM regime has been rigging elections since 2001? Who is Mulongotis lying to? Not me, but perhaps the brain-dead Zambians eager to swallow any garbage!

  111. #138 Stop dreaming, if Britain and America have failed to fight mugabe, who in africa would even think of such a thing. Forget about mugabe, let the Zimbabwean people sort out their own issues, this zim issue can be sorted out internally. Mulongoti should focus on updating the people of Zambia on the condition of the President and must inform the people if we are going into fresh elections so that everybody in ready in everyway possible. And there is nothing that LPM could have done. He would have come up with some hot words but that would be it, just words. Mugabe is ready for dialogue and people who are seriously looking for a solution must take this path as soon as possible.

  112. Could you all who are behaving like stars/advisors on military issues stop this nonsense of terrible analysis. There is no need to start scaring anyone. Zambia is not going to war with Zimbabwe or any other country in SADC or Africa.Period.
State secrets are still secrets and no matter how you speculate your points will not reflect the real truth of the actual scenario. Those of you who claim to have served in various capacities in peacekeeping and/or war situations, your alleged stories must be kept to yourselves, your-families and the military. We don’t need them on here, please.

  113. Fill us in how LPM is doing. Simply saying ‘Stable condition don’t make any sense because anything in an imobile state can be refered to as stable. Details please! Leave Robert and his Zimbabwe alone.

  114. Mulongoti mind your own business, let zimbabwe issue be sorted out by the people of zimbabwe, you know the root cause of the problem of zimbabwe, its not mugabe , London failed to fulfil the Agreement of which super Ken was the witness.Think before you open your toilet, you have even failed to inform the nation the condition of LPM because you are blank in your head, sorry!

  115. they are just from condemning thabo mbeki and already he is issueing statements over things he is not sure.

  116. Pamberi na Chimurenga; pansi na neo-liberalists who have sold their countries for crumbs.

Mulonga must grow up. He has no brains like his boss. This is not Mwaiseni stores where he was running sales of cabbages and causing shortages of cooking oil during the KK days. Leave Zim alone, and only tell us the truth about LPM’s condition. Is he in coma still or not?

  117. I have a feeling Bob will be assassinated just like Indira Gandhi or Kabila,i.e. by somebody very close to him.Sad ending for the freedom fighter of the 80s.

  118. September 02, 2005 : Peace process in Cote d’Ivoire set back after rebels reject South Africa’s mediation. Cote d’Ivoire’s rebel forces Thursday again refused any future efforts by South Africa to mediate the peace agreement which would end the country’s three-year conflict, delivering another blow to the peace process after the failure of a disarmament plan. The rebels said they would reject South African President Thabo Mbeki’s mediation in putting an end to the conflict which split the west African nation into two parts, accusing South African mediators of bias.

  119. Only fools trust the West given their track record on Africa. What is wrong with us Black people? Why do we want to be divided by these colonisers, who ripped us apart and created artificial borders so that they could rule us after being divided?

As far as I am concerned, Mulongoti is trying to take our attention away from LPM’s medical crisis. This is timed to ensure that our citizens start looking elsewhere instead of focusing on their critically sick president. Shame on Mulongoti for his hypocriciy.

  120. Optimist # 149,
Leadership is selfless and does not thrive on fear.Besides that, the most lionized and highly esteemed heroes of the liberation and common good struggles standing for true dignity and equity of their people against foreign injustices are demonized and killed. If you become too self preserving, you cannot be a leader.Look at Martin Luther King, Nkulumah, Patrice Lumumba,Samora Machel, Chris Hanny and many more living or dead like our KK.Mugabe could be killed, but does that foster peace? If anything Morgan is within reach taking some 9mm load every day but surely restraint and reason prevails there.

  121. Theoretician # 149,
Prove to me that you have an ounce of common sense despite your incoherent theories. How do you expect the South African backed initiative to hold when conspiracies hold high to discredit and undermine any African initiative on the continent ECOWAS,SADC, EAC and COMESA are potential economic blocks with very useful collective security packs in their respective regions.NATO is not involved. Do expect any harmony there when factions are susceptible to some social engineering? Do you know why NATO budget is 60% USA funded when Europe should have been the kingpin in it foreign policy? As NATO is controlled by the USA, EU countries want a hand in every African collective body.

  122. Some of you are just reactionary forces. If some one said they want to eliminate world poverty you would thow a tantrum. What is wrong with a country or leader aligned to the west ?. would you rather we were aligned with rassia ?, china ? iran ?.
Actually some African countries would do better by inviting the west to run half the goverment.

  123. PY # 153

My young man, If you expect your entertainment to come from me,i advise you look somewhere else because i deal with real and challenging issues only. The world is too hostile and full of paradoxes for serious people to resort to entertainments gigs. I respect that you are inherently born hopeless and you expect other to unlock your national victories.Blessed is the day you were born with that mindset and blessed be your day of that thinking on earth.

  124. Pragmatist: What is wrong with your mental falculties. As soon as Mbeki was booted out of the cote d ivoire conflict Ivorians sat together under the encouragement of ECOWAS found peace. Our own transition to multi party politics was a zambian/ African solutin.SADC/COMESA through FTJ handled the DRC crisis outstandling. DRC recently held multi party elections that is progress fro Afrcan solutions.Liberia is enjoying peace and has produced Africa’s first head of state all through the effort of ECOWAS. So what conspiracies are you talking about? Where brainwashed oops educated in communist Bulgaria/Romania/GDR.By the way I do not rely on common sense I rely on knowledge/research & sound theory

  125. correction:Liberia is enjoying peace and has produced Africa’s first lady head of state all through the effort of ECOWAS.

  126. Pragmatist: spare us the west/colonisation blame game.It reactionary and a product of nostalgia rather than the bravery/productiveness of confronting the harsh reality/conditions on the ground. It is an old song from the likes of Mugabe and Gaddafi.(it play like an old record tha keeps jumping back to the previous line).

  127. Yes the West love themselves so much and will do anything to protect their interests. Even Gadaffi loves the Arab world that he is prepared to eat pork(forbidden meat for moslems) to push his arab agenda ahead. Dont blame them: first feed you own kids before you start intervening in your neigbours poverty. In Africa our leaders seem to enjoying seeing their people suffer (they hate their own) and will anything possible to stay power so only them and their conies wine and dine.Whilst their people prish from poverty in jails peddle sex and sweets in foreign countries. And they blame the West. I wont buy that crap

  128. #107 please do some research before you attack others. It sees you want to be the only one we should be reading about on this blog.I guess you have a big mouth. You must understand what you refered to was a response not even to you but to some one qwho by now also i understands my point. If yoyu are so much of a professional yourself why are you saying this is a ‘scheme’.There is no scheme here.It is the same qualified personel i have respect for you have aluded to in your blog. Please dont behave like a headmaster of this blog.Know what you are saying and you cant stop me from being patriotic to my own country.Where do you come from?

  129. Theoretician # 156,
Bulgaria? Hah hah haah! I see your theoretical confusion when challenged. FYI I fell divulging my personal data not appropriate. But since you seem too confuse with that suspicion its time I cleared. Never in my life have i been to that country though I spent some three years in Europe pursuing electronic engineering cut short due to uncontrollable G-2-G shortcomings. Fortunately, got educated in the American Public schools in some resourceful discipline to many debates here. I debate based on a wealth of knowledge. A capitalist I’ am, I epitomize the American exceptionalism values to the core but never blind to the Right Wing conspiracies.

  130. Chills #160,
Patriotism is not embodied in fantasy but realism so that nations restrain themselves from unjustified entanglements. You been spamming a tirade of lies to embolden our kids here some cosmetic instinctual aggression mind. You know we are practically a sick nation with a myriad challenges not fit for any external undertaking, yet you’re here lying through your teeth without a conscious.Take it from me or any serving patriot, we have no capacity for external entanglements. In short we are on our knees a fact we cannot be in denial about. If you think other Diplomatic missions are here without professional attaches to know our capacity that is your fantasy.

  131. To be honest with you I think you are a nut case. It is only my opinion. I could be wrong. I offer your brotherly advice to confide in a psychiatrist.

  132. Theoretician,
You also, i will not spare you in your confusion.Peace in Liberia? What peace if the President is 100% Guarded and thriving on foreign security Detail.Who among Liberian nationals is in her detail? What gains can you enumerate on the social-economic fronts that she has achieved since entering Monrovia other than just shifting hands of the Diamond and rubber business assets? Who told you there is peace in such severe deprivation. Why has she suffered d more than 3 attempts within this short span? You think its for funny that LPM bemoaning the devious poverty level in the country giving him sleepless nights and BP? There is no peace in poverty.

  133. Theoretician,

Poverty is the most security threat to nation-states.Nations cannot be at peace when entrenched in dehumanizing poverty.
You study the Konval Lorenz’s Aggression and Instinct Theory. To believe or insinuate that there is peace in the depth of poverty exemplify first degree madness of theoreticians.

  134. Pragmatist:I repeat my advice:To be honest with you I think you are a nut case. It is only my opinion. I could be wrong. I offer your brotherly advice to confide in a psychiatrist. I will have nothing more to say beyond this.

  135. Theoretician,

Our capacity is sufficiently for self territorial defense and not external aggression on behalf of any one corrupting us with intangible development loans and scholarships.

  136. Theoretician,

Blessed is the day you were born with that mentality that someone outside your land has the absolute inherent power to your dignity and prosperity. Also blessed are your days on earth you live waiting for such foreign miracles.Keep dreaming that i’m nut for laying it this bear. Economic HitMen are real. Listen Confessions of an Economic Hit Man google it on Youtube. “John Perkins: Confessions of an Economic Hit Man on Youtube”

  137. Pragmatist, my friend you have a lot of reasonable arguments but at times you go far astray. There is nothing wrong with scholarships.
If you see any lies in what i am saying why dont you expose them instead of generalising issues.I dont implore you to agree with what i am saying but am saying what i know.Keep what you know that you are on your knees iam not at all.Besides who have i provoked for me to go on my knees?Zambia has not provoked anyone at all.The diplomats you are saying i have nothing to do with them.Whatever you say Vietnam had enferior weapons yet USA with its fleet of armoury lost,Sudan? Somalia? What do you know about Z.Just keep quiet my friend. You cant change my patriotism

  138. Dont be a bully.I can see you attaking almost every one on LT.You are really one chap that can cause a fight in an empty room.can see that most of your arguments are uplifted from some where and at times have no meaning to the topics under scrutiny on this blog.If you want to be repected you must respect others too.To me you dont seem Zambian but someone with a derranged mind sitting at home waiting for social security money-UB.
There is freedom of speech but dont abuse others. You are actually a bully#168#164#162

  139. Chills 170,
I challenge you in your stupor to point at any of my debate posts you deem is lifted material driving the hot debates. Other than those clearly pasted news report shared for those with common sense to analyze i challenge you to defend your lies and fantasy.Do i need to lift material about the state of our nation? No sir, i served with privileges above and beyond. My unflinching patriotism is founded on realism other than fantasy.I have a culture of tearing off liars and fanatics swimming in dreams. We cannot afford external entanglements as a country though we have capacity for self territorial defense of which i stand ready to embolden where justified circumstances hold.

  140. Chills # 169,
Mature and gain some critical thinking abilities.Otherwise you risk staying stuck in your curve of fantasy. Rebattling based on abstracts is not smart.Prove to me that you are mature with common sense. Talking of SS check is beyond me by law and by any dimension. The higher you empower yourself and your spouse, the easier it becomes.Stay in your denial. With poverty at >80% which H.E has been fighting from day one, it is immature of you to deny that Zambians are entrenched in it down not on their knees.Patriotism is not to deny reality. You solve a problem by first acknowledging its existence.

  141. If yu are very clrver mr pragmatist who in this blog wants entanglement with another state?I have not read anyone suggesting going to war is a solution to any problem our country has. In case you didnt get what i said i repeat in mre simpler terms. If my country Zambia goes to war with any country,i will remain supporting a defending my country at all costsPlease in case you dont knoe ‘if’suggests a conditional circumstance. This is my stand.I wil nt sithere and try to expose my country’s weaknesses while promoting another because it is stupid. Now you tell me thji is wrong, how dare you?How is your so called unflinching petriotism justified here.Yes your country Zimbabwe is mighty.

  142. Chills # 169,

It is immature of you to deny that Zambians are entrenched in poverty down on their knees. Patriotism is not to deny reality. You solve a problem by first acknowledging its existence not denials.Hon. Mulongoti is wrong on Zimbabwe. His statement is inflammatory and provocative. We refuse to be used on exchange of intangible development loans and scholarships. Those must come forth genuinely not on ulterior motives.I was a beneficially of genuine scholarships then and know what bring honor to a Graduate. We don’t blood scholarships to prosper.

  143. 172 Keep it tat way while i will also stand by my own country.I have already said Zamia never ever envisage war with any one.Thats why we are so civil and peaceful. However thisdoes not mean we should be takebn advantage of by any one

  144. After this foreign media saga about LPM, whether he’s dead or alive…the way the trusted media handled it is absolutely pathetic. I now find it had to believe what they’ve been reporting about Mugabe.

  145. 174 Please dont make it seem as if Zambia is the poorest coutry in Africa. There is no crisis of poverty in Zambia.Where do you live. The situation in Zambia is far better than so many countries in the region.Even if Zambia is so poor why would you be so proud as to stand on a mountain and shout to the whole world that your country is poor?Where is your patriotism.Which other countries have you ever been in the region? When did you last visit zambia? Some zambians live better lives than you wherever you are.

  146. If only every Zambian was as patriotic as you ‘Chills’. America is so successful at providing a good life to it’s citizens because of this type of patriotism…even when they’re doing something wrong. Most Zedians would rather bootlick anything foreign, instead of uping the level of their own.

  147. Chills # 173,

Please my young man, heed my advise as i burn my day in devotion to lift your mind to the level of thinking human beings. Stop talking from abstracts.Secondly, there is no danger in stating that our capacity is currently challenged. It becomes a bleach when you start giving certain logistical and manpower strength values, locations, models, brands, movements and range. You must be a PF cadre trained from Mphengula’s backyard on behalf of Ba Sata.UNIPists and MMD cadres are well oriented in those areas.I’m done with you.Take it or leave my counsel.

  148. #179 Good bye big man because you want to known so old man.Who are you comparing Zambia with anyway?Yes Zambia is challenged but whichich country is not challenged?I am not going to compare Zambia with any other. You and i have agreed to disagree. so go your way while i go my way.your so counsel is not welcome in the direction you are taking.Remain believing your country is poor and has no capacity for anything.
By the way i am not a cadre of any kind. For you to know all these areas you must be one of them.I guess that is where you learnt to be a bully.Even Sata is no longer a bully but a reasonable man.You need to change Mr Headmaster.Bye for good

  149. This is for chills: if you love your army so much, why dont you join,go to the bush, fight your beloved wars and leave the blogs to people who think. if you are honest with yourself, you know that anyone who is spending time/energy reading/posting on a blog dedicated to news about zambia must also love his/her country.

those of us who disagree with you, it isn’t that we believe Zambia “has no capacity for anything” – it’s that we believe Zambia has the capacity for things much greater than making war on its neighbors.

  150. For the past 44 years Zambia has not fought any offensive war with any country, infact the last war games the Zambian millitary played were “operation pitani bwino, or operation yendani bwino” the actual hand over ceremony when the british were leaving in 1964 so who ever wants war,you should just know that the war you are asking for wont be a movie, there will be casualties and that could be your relatives, yourself, me or even chills

  151. ANGOLA: Election crisis — opposition parties under beaten up and persecution.

The truth of the matter is that there is no standardized functional democracy. Each nation has its own democracy. The US’s 2000 Florida Democracy was of its own kind, Zambia has had of its one since 1996, Uganda had its own with Besiege under terrorist charge campaigning from Prison until after elections, Kenya has had its own that scarified 2600 voters with 600,000 more Internally displaced Refuges, Zimbabwe has had its own and now its Angola after Mozambique had another one which took 28 days to release results. Its all democracy.

  152. The Gambia, Zimbabwe Run-off Valid.

At the recently concluded Emergency Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh Gambia took a position that few powers are taking. The Government of President Jammeh feels that the recently conducted Presidential Runoff was a valid election.

  153. Kansas Keep out of this.Do you know what you are saying?I have not said i want a war at all.Let me know what anguage you speak then i will write the one you uderstand better.Yes I like my Zamban army whilst you like which ever army it is(foreign). What is wrong wit liking my country and its people?Zambians are not war mongers. No one likes war in Zambia. My point if any one attacks Zamba i will remain in support of my own army and defend my country while you will also join the opposinarm.Fine with that as it is your choice

  154. Whatever you say,i dont think a sound mind can sit on a roof top shouting that his negativities about his country. You guys have just been painting a bad picture of my country and i cant allow that.As i have already said Zambia is not the worst country in Africa.I can not sit here watching you paint a bad picture of my country. If you are saying Zambia has no capacity for war yes i agree but which country has capacity for war with Zambia. The truth is every country in Africa should rather use their resources for other greater things than war. However dont expect Zamba to lie down and let any countr just run over it because t has no caacity

  155. ” Mugabe risks going down in history as oppressor”. This headline seems to have an assurance that Mugabe might go down well in history if he changed his ways, but plse remember that he’s already gone down in history as such, an oppressor, unless someone still thinks the old cow still has so many years ahead of him. I don’t think so. His time for making amends is over.

  156. We are a sovereign nation and we have fought liberation wars .To the extent that we were training most of our neighbours before they became independent.Even though War is not the best options under the circumstances,But should Mugabe overstep his boundary he should expect to be silent.

  157. Pragmatist,
Zambians are down on their knees in materalistic poverty. We are poor, poor in western standards. But no zambian is starving. In fact generally individual zambians have less to worry about then their piers in the west.I think we are more happier despite the less we have. If it were that bad i don’t think all those white pipo would be in Zambia. It all depands from were you look at it. World bank would class us in dire poverty, by the same token, using the same world bank criteria, Zimbabwe should have impolded economically according to economic theory, but it haset and life goes on. Not all african ecosystems can be explained by the white mans theories.

  158. Nice interpretion No. 192, I really feel the situation in Zim is a test for our unity as Africans. It will always be fine if we continue asking for help and worshiping them; but when we say no to that, they do whatever they can to divide us. (Maiko Zulu: Now when the tables are turned they say Mugabe is crazy. AFRICA UNITE!!!
