Kapata donates to orphaned twins

Mandevu Member of Parliament, Jean Kapata has donated money to the Social Welfare Office in Mushindamo district, to help support the four months old twins whose mother died whilst giving birth.

ZANIS reports that Ms. Kapata, who is also Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, says she decided to contribute towards the welfare of the twins as a concerned citizen.

She said it was important for well-wishers to help in raising the half-orphaned children so that they can enjoy good health.

Ms Kapata has since called on government to consider taking twins to an orphanage so that they get good care and education.

And Mushindamo District Social Welfare Officer, Helen Machangani, explained that her department has been rendering assistance to the Kalaswa family where the two babies are being looked after by their grandmother.

In January this year, a young woman died after giving birth to twins, a boy and a girl, in Mushindamo district of Northwestern province.

  1. People are complaining high standard of living but guess what our Politicians are so overpaid that they are giving back money …look at this Mukula thief Jean after cutting down trees and exporting to China pocketing the funds she is her donating…

  2. Very sad when it becomes news that a so-called “hon” members of parliament donates to charity. It truly says a lot about the caliber of politicians (leaders?) in Zambia when they seek to splash this all over the news. Many people worldwide, including is Zambia I think, donate to charity as a matter of personal preference without the expectation of fanfare or praise.

  3. It will not make any sense to take the twins to an orphanagy when their father and grandmother are still alive. The father will relax and the best if those making donations care a lot is empower the father with some skills to be able to sustain his capacity to do some productive activity. However any donations or help is a good gesture.
