UNZA CLosed to Comply with COVID-19 Guidelines

The University of Zambia has closed its campus in conformity with government’s guidelines on Covid-19.

The closure is effective from July 1st, 2021 up to July 31st, 2021.

The University has since directed that all undergraduate, postgraduate and international students should vacate the two campuses.

The University Senate has further decided that all undergraduate and postgraduate students will continue with 100 percent online learning.

University of Zambia Acting Registrar RODGERS PHIRI says the closure of the institution is to facilitate spraying of the campus from July 2nd, 2021 to July 12th, 2021.

Mr. PHIRI says after July 31st, the situation will be reviewed, and students will be informed of further measures.

This is contained in a statement made available to ZNBC News by UNZA Public Relations Unit.

  1. To facilitate spraying of the campus? Yaba.
And this is the highest learning institution in the country. Whats spraying premises got to do with fighting the covid virus? The logic here is that if the University is sprayed, then covid will be prevented.
Just read Parkie Mbozi’s article on the need for vaccines as opposed to this arbitral science.

  2. It is the sensible thing to do. Life is more important than a degree. After all I am doing better than those with degrees. I actually employ people with degrees .

  3. This guy Kayisala Zulubaka does not appreciate education and I wonder how he treats those graduates he has employed. Instead of appreciating the positive contributions those degree holders are making to his company he is busy being jealous. If we had 10 of such characters this country would grind to a halt. No wonder in this country investing in education is not being given a priority because of such thinking. This closure of UNZA has nothing to do with Covid-19 they just want to prevent the students who registered as voters under Munali constituency from voting as the students are always pro opposition. The review after 31/07/21 might be extended to some date after general election. The PF have assessed information on the ground and the only to keep the students from the streets in case…

  4. Wonders never cease: Universities and Colleges are closing yet Secondary and primary schools reopen next week Thursday? I stand to be corrected?

  5. All measures to mitigate the spread of the disease must be welcome. While it is inevitable to have vaccines, it is also sensible to sanitate the UNZA campus by fumigating all premises as a proactive control course of action.
