RB invites EU for 2011 polls

President Rupiah Banda has invited the European Union to send a delegation to observe next years general elections in Zambia.

President Banda has asked out-going European Union Head of Delegation Derek Fee to ensure a team of officers is sent to monitor the polls.

The President also described the year 2011 as a great challenge because of the general elections.

President Banda was speaking during the commissioning of the New Soweto Market in Lusaka.

President Banda has pledged that he would ensure next year’s elections are free, fair, and transparent.

He said that he wants all potential voters to freely vote for the candidate of their choice.

President Banda also asked Zambians not to allow anyone to engage in violence as the country nears the elections.

He urged Zambians to remain peaceful in order for the elections to be free and fair.

Meanwhile, President Banda has appealed to Zambians not to engage in excessive drinking during the festive season.

  1. They were also invited in Ivory coast and look at the outcome. It won`t change yo system bwana RB.

  2. U don’t need to invite them. They are always there. It is their business. Those are capitalists. What one should be inviting include; a constitution from the people, electoral justice, transparency, honesty, legitimacy and accountability not the EU.

  3. INDEED EU COME MONITOR THE POLLS WE HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE THE BEST MAN WINS AND IN THIS CASE RB AND MMD ARE ALREADY ASSURED OF MORE VOTES BCOS OF HARDWORK NOT JUST JAW JAW JAW BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH HH AND SATA NOW JOINED BYMILUPI AND MAGANDE EMPTY TINS

  4. RB is a good man. But he needs to be tough against plunderers. If only he can be strong on this matter he is meant for zambia. He is hard working but must stop dinning with thieves.

  5. #6 former pf member you got a point I will imform head of state. indeed RB is a good guy we have a man like KK who love this great nation. God loves us and may he richly bless RB and give him more wisdom

  6. On “President Banda has pledged that he would ensure next year’s elections are free, fair, and transparent.. he wants all potential voters to freely vote for the candidate of their choice” this is good but I hope Mr President RB Banda is real serious about his message here.

I am told that someone wont vote because the problem is not in the voting but in the counting of ballots after the voting is complete. So let us ensure that we all vote regardless of the challenges regarding the actual counting of votes.

    Be blest all.

  7. Lady GAGA of the four presidents would you not say that Mwanawasa was the most progressive and smart, in terms of being a manager? Kaunda was good for ten years due to a newly independent state needing a strong pillar; soon after power got to his head.

    • She11y on August 9, 2011 @CherylKimberleylover Yeah I was just tiknihng about that the other day! That would’ve been the most ridicilous luxury SUV ever!

  8. You need not invite the EU the are like the paparazzi in your face to get the spotlight and cash incentives hahaha that comes from cheap raw materials.

  9. I recall that the newly Admunistration of Mwanawasa had issues with the EU over the 2001 elections. Interesting invitation.

  10. Also him should not party too much during the festivals..otherwise he is a good man, his heart is very good but he not capeble to be the president..he has no leadership qualities but he is a very very very good man.

  11. Window dressing. But i believe it will be tough this time for mmd to play their games. PF or pact if still in existence will have enough polling agents all over. Not even red brick will manage this number of observers. the wind of change is here and mmd is going down to the pit latrine!!

  12. Hope he won’t say “WE DID NOT INVITE YOU” when they will declare the results of the 2011 elections…
