Finance and National Planning Minister Ngandu Magande has urged Malaysia to consider extending its Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) to the African Continent.

  1. We all need investors in this nation though not every investor is worth while having.the syndrome created by the zambian government puts everyone at an awkward penalt spot.the govt has demonstrated that we are a desperate people and thus accept anything that comes our way.these inestors have the capacity to improve our living standards but only if certain conditionalities are put in place to monitor their operational system including their treatment of zambians.unfortunately, zambians are just a sacrificial lambs as what they deserve is what goes to ministers to silence them.pls God save your people.

  2. #2, You had a valid point but let me remind you that the SYNDROME you refered to was not created by the current Government. It was inherited from Kaunda’s regime passed on to Chiluba’s MUPPET SHOW and LPM was in the process of correcting things. 27 years of KK and 10 years of Kafupi, still made no difference to Zambian people. Who is to blame ? Our relatives, the Bemba’s, because of NCHEKELAKO.

  3. #4 you have a point. i have never heard foreigners asking zambians to invest in their countries. We have developed a dependancy syndrome which can only be broken if we as zambians take charge of our own resources. What benefit are getting from the so called investors?? How can we have someone coming to cook nshima as an investor as if we do not know how to cook? Lets rise up as Zambians and utilise our resources………

  4. #2,#3, #4 For the economy to grow, you need a collective of investments, small and large. The malaysians are the investors in the ENGEN OIL in South Africa (Owners). You need to learn what malaysia has done to be among the emerging economies.
We need to stop this Zambian mentality of thinking the only investor good, is one coming from America or UK. Investment can come from even DRC,Zimbabwe, etc. Asians are allowed in America and world over to start even bakeries, and yet some think that only Americans can do (brain washed).

  5. #6, i agree with you completely. PETRONAS owns Engen and has invested in Sudan and other countries which show seriousness. PETRONAS contributed 40+ percent of government’s income this year – Kuala Lumpur may not be the city of gold but it is paved with opportunity for prudent Africans and Zambians need to stop this habit of expecting handouts … even from investors.

  6. #6 You are missing a point, why calling you neighbours son who have a hoe to do you garden when you have son who has no hoe, the thing is help your son to get a hoe, let him do the gardening and your family will move forward, otherwise its your neighbour who will always prosper, WAKE UP ZAMBIA no one will do it for us but our selves.

  7. #7 you seriously need a mind set change, people like you who thinks nothing can come out of zambia are highly mistaken come on move around with open eyes and see our pontential, all we need starting from you let us believe we can do it and move, i’ve started join me.

  8. I support #6 because he is speaking from a point from an informed position. We need as much Foreign Direct Investment into the country as we can in order to boost the growth of our economy.

  9. Coronation of English Sovereigns – Edward II, The Martyr’ … Pavilion Aldershot’, ‘Coronation Guest – King Lewanika of Barotseland’ Chitimukulu was busy defacating in the bush!.

  10. Ba Magande Bakaaamba! “Ka inflation”,shani ukokacheckina…we are moving away from the sinlge digit rapidly

  11. #4 Investment is not just one-sided. Like communications, its a double-pronged activity. If you have been opportuned to look at these MoUs that the Government signs with other countries, they will show you that investment should be taken either way. The problem we have as Zambians is that we have no capacity yet to invest in other countries. Malaysia for one has called for Zambians to invest in their country. So if you are able to #4, please take advantage of this. Even nearby South Africa has challenged Zambian business houses to invest there as they invest in Zambia. But how many Zambians have responded to this challenge?

lets bounce some ideas off each other on this blog topic. i remember having a wonderful exchange on the subject.

Formulate policies for promotion of culture- Govt urged

  13. you have to be sick to think the zambian government should be looking to invest abroad in the same measure as they are seeking inward FDI. Zambia should invest in Zambia to develop the country. If you want govt to invest abroad, who will invest here to develop our country.

this blog sometimes is a big joke. you would think people would comment on matters they understand, or at least read up on sth before you rush to write, may be out of the excitement of a new toy called a computer.

  14. wat have these investors we have been inviting done for our country so far. i always hear our ministers inviting them to invest in the country such that by now we would have had meaningful investments.we should stop wasting time inviting these people lets encourage and support all those who have exhibited entrepreneurship skills for they are the only ones who can contribute meaningfully to the development of this country.

  15. #12 get serious and spare us your fake apologies. How would you feel if I publicly slapped you hard in the face and then said I’m sorry?
