Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people has welcomed the realignment of the Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs. Chief Chitimukulu says the move is commendable as it will also serve as a cost saving measure for government.
The Mwinelubemba adds that the realignment to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development should not be politicized. He was speaking when Northern Province Minister Leonard Mbao paid a courtesy call on him at his Kasama residence.
And Mr. Mbao said government under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema wants to spearhead rural development with the help of traditional leaders. He said through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, government will strive to reduce developmental inequalities.
Mr. Mbao, who is also Mpulungu area Member of Parliament, tangible development can only take place through decentralization. The Provincial Minister also held a meeting with Heads of government departments and interacted with the media.
That’s why chiefs should be principled enough and refuse to act like party caders…….
You risk alienating your self with the new government if you chose to be a cader of a particular party and supporting every evil act carried out…

Chiefs should be in charge of provinces like KK did.
Chiefs should concentrate on preserving our Cultural principles across the country and should avoid being used in politics. The church in Zambia is way too corrupt.
I have been hearing of decentralization for a long time since UNIP era and nothing seems to be working. I was looking to a situation where the local authorities took charge all the central govt functions under its control such as health, education, policing law and order. There is steel conflict of interest among the stakeholders. What Provincial Minister Elisha Matambo has stated is correct but what was the point of inviting our local UOND leaders to a meeting that was supposed to be purely for technocrats? If not careful we will slowly crawl back PF style of cadres taking over state functions.
@DEJA VU I think Chiefs no longer comand the respect they past possed during the KK error. If anything they have lived there usefulness. No one listens to Chiefs and Kings. Look at Chitimukulu and his casain Mpezeni, during the campains time they edged there people to vote for PF. If you look at the results Northen provice gave HH 51% and ECL 49%. In Eastern province gave HH got 49.25% and ECL 50.75%. They are just common people like you and l.
Morover, they are Not productive as our past leaders and help their subjects. The opposite happens they charge poor people to pay chickens, goats and
crops on flinsm charges there by making poor peolple more poorer.

Who cares whether you welcome the alignment or not. You lost all the respect you had after you aligned yourself to PF and now you are just an ordinary citizen like everybody else.
Is it painful to contribute without insulting or throwing invective at those who chose to say something. You’re visited by a politicians and you dare not speak on national matters for fear of insults raining on you. It’s a bullying attitude harbouring the spirit of intolerance.
