Police in Gwembe district in Southern Province are looking for a 31 year old man who allegedly shoot and wounded his father and mother using a shot gun.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning at around 03:00 hours.
Southern province police commanding officer Lemmy Kajoba said the suspect, identified as Salilo Hachulu of Kaumba village in chief Chipepo’s area shot and wounded his father, Moses Hachulu 62, and mother Julia Siasiuna aged 50.
Mr. Kajoba said the man allegedly wanted to kill his parents because he suspected them of practicing witchcraft.
Mr. Hachulu sustained bullet wounds on his right side of buttocks while his wife sustained wounds on her chest and shoulder.
The duo has been admitted to Monze mission hospital.
Mr. Kajoba has advised members of the public not to take the law into their own hands.

There is no law in favour or against witchcraft. Let him go scot-free we are tired of witchcraft stories. Just last week we heard how school teachers abandoned teaching in fear of being be witched. What development does witches bring to Zambian society to deserve protection once caught in the act???

Months ago we read how one man be witch three memembers of one family. Openly telling mourners not to wip cos he was responsible for their deaths and the spirit that was troubling him was tired on a tree near the grave… I would be supplying ammunitions to hunt out all witches.. The colonial Govt introduced the 1959 Witchcraft Act and other pieces of legislation which facilitated the banning of traditional ceremonies, rituals, rites and any other practices which they conceived to be contrary to European standard of Cultural value.
A new law on witchcraft is coming which seeks to recognise the existence of witchcraft as well as protect individuals from wrongly being accused of practicing witchcraft. At the same time, the law will seek to punish those rightly found to be practicing witchcraft. Furher, the law seeks to recognise and legalise the use of African medicine.
