Increased police patrols please Mutendere residents

Concerned Mtendere Township residents in Lusaka have expressed their gratitude with the Zambia Police Service for the increased patrols which has reduced crime activities in the area.

The residents told a ZANIS crew which toured the area, today, that it was quiet pleasing to note that crime levels in the area had drastically reduced due to increased police patrols.

Mtendere care in Charge of security at UNIP complex , Blackell Sakala, who spoke in the vernacular Njanja language said residents in the area were now happy with police officers for their of late intensified foot night patrols.

Mr. Sakala said people in Mtendere are now able to sleep soundly as thieves are no longer attacked them . He commended the Zambia Police Service for stepping up patrols in the township.

And another resident, Manfred Kabenja, who spoke in Bemba said Mtendere residents are grateful to the police and neighborhood officers in the area saying the security men are really geared to work for the people of Mtendere .

Mr. Kabenja said Mtendere used to be haven of peace for a long time until recently when the area has experienced a number of crimes activities ranging from housebreak ins to assaults.

He urged the officers in the area to continue working hard so that crime should be a thing of the past in Mtendere.

Another resident Lackson Chiluba, said police officers operating in the township should be hailed for their tireless efforts in reducing crime in the area.

He urged the residents of Mtendere to cooperate with the police in combating crime adding that the fight against the vice should not be left to the police alone.

  2. We in Africa have to thank governments for providing roads, the City council for providing us with water blah blah blah-Yet we pay for these services through our taxes! It is expected of police officers to reduce crime in the entire nation. Thats their job.
