EPP leader Chilufya Tayali released on bond

Outspoken opposition Economic and Equity Party ( EPP ) leader Chilufya Tayali has been released today, on police bond.

Zambia Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed the development in Lukulu adding that the nature of the case requires consent from the Director of Public Prosecution’s office.

Mr. Hamoonga said Mr. Tayali will appear in court once the DPP gives a go ahead.

Mr. Tayali was arrested last week for the offence of defamation of the President Contrary to Section 69 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

His arrest comes after Lukulu East constituency UPND Chairperson Jameson Mpidi and Mwika Paul Chisala popularly known as ‘Papie’ lodged a complaint at Lukulu Police station on Sunday 15th May, 2022.

  1. Can we protect this great patriot by all means. The Intel I get is that there are plans to kill him by the powers that be.

  2. So if he is released on bond does the police ive him a lift to Lusaka?

  3. It’s shameful the manner in which Tayali has been treated. These tactics are from the colonial era. William Banda might be the one behind these senseless actions as a colonial strategist. Are these special duties? Tayali is going to embarrass you for nothing

  4. He’s so many police bonds, I wonder how he’s going to remember which bond is for which case and which police station and which district and in what province.

  5. Please leave the police alone on this matter. If a complaint is lodged they need to act because the law says so. Repeal the draconian law or else shut up. PF enjoyed this law to the fullest. So Kaizer tell your fellow thieving minions still in Parliament to push for this law to be quashed. Only issue is they are too busy worried about police knocking on the their doors to explain how they built zoos in their backyards within 10 years with no business venture or winning mega lotto.

  7. The Bemba saying ” Umukulu tapusa Kebo apusa akabwe” watching a video in which an elderly caller said ” Ba HH Mwila bepa abantu Imwe bene muka ba na worse” this PROPHESY has already been fulfilled just in in nine months of Hakainde’s rule. Nwe promises are being made even before the old ones are fulfilled. Mr Hichilema a very intelligent conman knows that the generally low memory population has already forgotten about the promisess he made less than a year ago. Very sad indeed. The so called civil society organisations are defeaning mute about their small god’s unholly activities. The once so called reknown unza scholars who wrote piles and piles of articles on PF’s Edgar Lungu have suddenly lost their pens on Hakainde and consequently are dead quiet. One wonders who paid for…
