The UPND has disputed media reports indicating that senior party officials in Western Province have defected to the Patriotic Front (PF).
UPND Chairman for Logistics, Sibote Sibote has told a media briefing today that no one in the UPND has defected from the party.
Mr. Sibote has claimed that those reported to have defected are people, who were serving indefinite suspensions in the UPND.
On March 22, Patriotic Front National Chairperson Inonge Wina announced that a total number of 8 Provincial UPND leaders in Western Province had defected to Patriotic Front (PF).
According to Mrs. Wina , a group of UPND top Provincial leaders which was lead by Induna Imbwae Imikendo included Kanz Mundia UPND Provincial Chairman, Cornel Makumba trustee, David Muzinda Provincial Vice Chairman, Miss Inonge Mubuyaeta Provincial Chairlady, Miss Rosemary Munalula provincial Vice Secretary and Publicity Secretary Teddy Chimbinde had defected to PF.
She said the eight former leaders defected from UNPD because they were not consulted by Mr. Hakainde before he decided to pull out of the Pact adding that they agree with Professor Clive Chira’s proposal of sharing positions according to the formula of 60% and 40% allocation of parliamentary seats and that Mr. Sata be President of the pact.
So, if UPND members is facing ‘indefinite suspensions’ leave the party to join PF, they have not defected?

He said PF leader Sata MC’s method of announcing untruths at rallies is not good. He revealed that he spoke to HH on phone and had a meeting with HH at General’s home which yielded nothing. He said he is opened-minded and willing to work with others but will not be bullied to accept to escort others to State House when those who approach him can endorse him to be Zambian President if they think he is useful.
MIYANDA said he was disappointed that a PF cadre told him that he better open a church to be a preacher since he will only split votes in any election. He feels that the President of Zambia is extremely powerful and can do anything.

7 Zed Patriot et al., Brig Gen MIYANDA said that he does not support the 50% + 1 threshold for one to be elected President of Zambia but is willing to be taught its usefulness by its advocates peradventure he may become their disciple.

7 Zed Patriot et al., Brig Gen MIYANDA clarified the issue of ‘appreciation’ on an ARMY parade that Col Panji KAUNDA misrepresented to support serpent Sata MC for President of Zambia over best placed HH of the might UPND.
He disputed the purported superior popularity of PF’s Sata MC as a thing all or some Opposition parties should be forced to use to relax in their ambition to form GRZ Administration and hence support MC Sata to be the Opposition’s only man to challenge MMD’s President RBB in this year’s election. Im also reliably informed that PF is in serious talks with Ng’andu MAGANDE of the so-called NMPP probably spearheaded by the POST FUDGE magazine whose ill-motivated editors to demean the mighty UPND Team are in good books with Magande. The reason for your first question is MRP(in copper production in Zambia) is significantly higher than the MRC(in labor market in Zambia). My friend, this is what attracted the investors in Zambia. It can however be mitigated by setting a high minimum wage rate in Zambia.. But for that to work, you need a diversified economy.

From inside the HP. Brig Miyanda was asked during the last by elections not to stand but to show his statesmanship by mediating between the PF and the MMD. He secretly went behind his advisors and stood. He saw for himself what happened. He has even lost his electorate to the ZED.

I would rather we tried to get the two back again than keep insulting each other, as this won’t help us in any way. Yesterday, I spoke to a friend who told me that the homosexual laws implementation that serpent Sata MC promised has disappointed a lot of people here in Lusaka and the man will be shocked in this year’s elections. As for UPND, its good that you have signed a PACT with APC that will let APC field MPs who will support UPND president HH for Zambian President in the coming tripartite elections. I have been woundering what the role of Bo Inonge was in PF, now I know. Defecting of people from one part to another in Zambia is not new since most of most people support a person and not the ideas such a person holds. For instance if you have a leader who has a past of thinking education is not important like Sata and he has demonstrated clearly that he has no regard to human rights by demolishing house in rain season without offering alternative shelter. One wounders what is the basis for supporting such a party or person. Where is the Manefesto for PF.
