Luapula member of Parliament Peter Machungwa says divisions in the Patriotic Front (PF) are expected because its president, Michael Sata, is not loyal to party members.
Dr Machungwa said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that those who supported MrSata have learnt a lesson and the divisions are likely to continue.
He was commenting on divisions which have rocked the opposition party.
“More members will leave the PF because of the bad leadership exhibited by Mr Sata. He will only remain with people who have accepted to be insulted and shouted at,” he said.
He said Mr Sata’s negative attitude towards his members will cost him in the 2011 elections.
Dr Machungwa said Mr Sata’s dictatorial leadership will force all good members to leave the PF.
And Committee of Citizens (CoC) executive director Gregory Chifire said the divisions in the PF are a sign of Mr Sata’s type of government should he be elected president.
Mr Chifire said Kafulafut amember of Parliament George Mpombo, former works and supply minister Mike Mulongoti and former ambassador to Libya Mbita Chitala have contributed to divisions in the PF.
He said the three individuals and Mr Sata practise ‘politics of lies and fabrications.’
Mr Chifire said Mr Sata is good at using people to advance his cause.
He said Zambians are not ready to vote for Mr Sata because he has never been democratically elected at a party convention.
Mr Chifire said Mr Sata’s support for gay rights will extensively divide the party. He said MrSata has nothing to offer and deliver to the people of Zambia as he lacks leadership qualities.
Mr Chifire urged PF members who are still reluctant to leave PF to do so as MrSata is just wasting their time.

You are very right to say that Machungwa is in bad standing with PF and morraly he cannot be expected to judge and comment on pf matters.
Just like PANJI Kaunda was terribly in bad standing with UPND ,and it was very immoral for him to have been judging and commenting on UPND matters,though it was surprising to see,read and hear PF members justifying immoral conduct of a truant member just because it suited them.

you are right Lupando Mwape is also in bad standing with mmd also in bad standing with Zambians, especially those who lost lives due to chinese investors lack of knowledge of Zambian employer/employee and labours. Lupando was Zambian ambassador to china for many years but he never explained our laws to the chinese government for them to educate their zambia bound chinese investors. Lives could have been served had Lupando done his work instead of acting as a tourist in china. SATA/PF must blame Lupando for tolerating and keeping quite over the plight of dead/mistreated employees.

Machunga has been expelled from the PF, he went crying to court like a baby for an injuction. If he thinks so badly of the PF and Sata why did he file the injuction? Why has he not resigned willingly?

The PF cadres have been wounded by Dr. Machungwa’s critical observations. Ba GBM and PF cadres, you can harass Dora Siliya in Northern Province, but note that Luapula Province is not a place to play around. Machungwa is not alone as speaks for the majority of Luapula. You can ignore his comments at your own peril. If you try to export insults and violence in Luapula, ala mukafwa nga-balunshi. Ku Luapula ekubene ba speciality ba-kalumba if provoked. Sata has been careful not to venture in that province.
Should Sata fail to make ii as Republican President, this will entail the ever-lasting political doom for all pretenders that have linked their luck with the PF. Precious reminder to Mbita Chitala, Panji Kaunda, Given Lubinda, Lupando Mwape, Mpombo, Mulongoti, Bob Sichinga etc. Some from this list are mere optunistic appendages to PF. No sane politician can stake Presidential aspirations basing from a single ethnic grouping. Otherwise other ethnic groups will be entiled to opt for the concept of “Wako-Ni-Wako”; or choose to consolidate their forces to bring down a commonly recognised tyrrant.
Dr. Machungwa is a professional Psychologist and a reknown University academic. His statement carries weight because he must have carefully assessed the genuine feelings of the people of Luapula. He is not a loner but represents the majority of MPs in Luapula. Sata narrowly lost to RB by few thousand votes. Most Luapula MPs were insulted by Sata to his own peril. Hence, if Hon Machungwa commands, say 1500 voters to his credit, then 15 MPs will mean a loss of 22,500 voters for Sata. Add this number to supporters of Ben Mwila and Katele Kalumba, the result will spell disaster for Sata. Other PF MPs in Lusaka and Copperbelt constitute another factor. Therefore, it is insane to ignore Dr. Machungwa because he has inside information from within PF structures – his Party.
