THE MMD says it does not use public funds to pursue political activities in the country as alleged by United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema.

And MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe has advised politicians to allow President Banda to make decisions concerning elections without undue influence.

Major Kachingwe said in Lusaka yesterday that the MMD does not get funding from government and that none of its ministers use public funds to conduct party functions.

He said it is wrong for Mr Hichilema to make such allegations because it is not true that the MMD uses public resources to carry out party functions.

“Our ministers are not abusing resources because the MMD has money. We use party resources to carry out party duties,” Maj Kachingwe said.

He said the MMD does not have to explain to anyone whenever it releases funds to party members because the funds are not public.

Mr Hichilema said yesterday on Hot FM Radio that President Banda is delaying the dissolution of Parliament because he wants his ministers to continue using government resources.

And Maj Kachingwe says President Banda should not be forced to make any pronouncements regarding elections.

He said the President makes decisions in the interest of the people and not to please a few individuals who have not prepared adequately for the polls.

Maj Kachingwe said the President has made it clear that he is still in consultation with all relevant stakeholders and that at an appropriate time, he will dissolve Parliament and announce the election date.

“I think people should not force President Banda to make an announcement on elections because he is still consulting,” Maj Kachingwe said.

  1. THE REASONS BY KACHINGWE HOLD NO TRUTH. A LOT OF MINISTERS ARE ALL OVER DISTRIBUTING ASSORTED ITEMS, INCLUDING MOSQUITO NETS TO CORRUPT THE MINDS OF THE VOTERS.WHATEVER THE CASE, MMD IS LOSING..HH all the way!

  2. A party with people’s goodwill as MMD is does not need to fall on public resources or indeed source its funds from terror groups in Afghanstan and homosexual groups. Such immorality is a preserve of Poor Finishers’ Party conscripting kaponyas for wayward and hideous end of their lives.

  3. Mr. Kachingwe Zambians are not fools that they cannot see abuse of resources by ministers. Just wait; the y account for these resources; time for you and your ministers is running out.
How cannot a minister claim to be on govt duty when he is jsut talking about Sata and putting on MMD regalia. This is wrong Mr. Kachingwe; don’t defend wrong things; you are annoying Zambians. STOP THIS NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!

  4. Dora has been in the copperbelt doing nothing governmental but campaigning for MMD using state resources, so you kachingwe what are you talking about.

  5. The writing is on all walls ‘MMD kuyabebele 2011’. You can delay the date of elections as much as you want but you can’t delay beyond 31st October 2011. October tepatali ba Kachingwe.

  6. Didn’t the former Party Cahirman on finance report at the convention that you as a Party are BANKRUPT?? Am confused now coz am trying to believe you bt you didn’t deny the report which was made in front of all your establishment?? KWESHONI MAKI??.

  7. Numbers are very important to God. Do you know what 11 means? Eleven means “EXTRA-MEASURE.” This is the 2011 year. Put this deep in your spirit: RB NAFUTI NAFUTI ie.”EXTRA-MEASURE.”

  8. You cannot accuse a cook for not feeling hungry just because he prepares the food.In the beginning there was a political party and the winning party formed government which in turn appointed ministers from among its members. How then does a minister not talk about his/her party when they visit the people.Remember after 5 years as is the case now in 2011,they have to go back for fresh mandate from the people. This is why they must at all times during the 5 year tenure continue to uplift their party.PERIOD!!!

  9. WHY ARE MMD SO BLIND?
RUPIAH WAS IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE BEGGING FOR VOTES (SEE LUSAKA TIMES 2-3 DAYS AGO).
RUPIAH WAS ON OFFICIAL DUTIES OF OPENING A PRIVATE COMPANY BUT STILL USED THIS DAY TO BEG FOR VOTES.
IF THIS IS NOT CAMPAIGNING THEN THERE IS NO CAMPAIGNING THIS YEAR.
    IT’S ALREADY BEGUN!

  10. Nobody can force RB to announce the election date but he has a responsibility to the Zambians by announcing the date so that people’s mindset is clear. Why should he keep the date to his chest if is ceratin of easy victory? On misuse of public resources. Yes its clear unless one has artificial eyes not to see what is going on. The Ministers are busy full blast in their constituenies campaigning using their ministerial cars i.e drivers, fuel and drawing allowances as they are still occupying their positions. This is a smooth and systematic way of using public resources. Richard was a sports administrator in any game your opponet is supposed to be given details of date, time and venue so that adquate preparations are made. MMD is busy levelling the ground for possible rigging whatelse now

  11. Really? I thought Shikapwasha admitted a few months ago that it was Govt that was paying for all those adverts on radio and TV were RB is being advertised as a president for all Zambians. How is that not using state resources to campaign? Even that Diffikulti vs Mwine Mushi programme on Muvi TV, who is funding it? And yet these same chaps shot down a parliamentary motion to publish labour statistics in the country claiming there is no money to do so. Shame on you!

  12. Ba Senior Citizen i thought you were dead, you and your empty brain! We don’t need characters like you in Zambia, our future generation will have nothing left to call Zambia, you must have migrated with Tekere right? just be honest coz i don’t think you are one of us, you dont even look like! You will go with MMD this year, jus have your bags ready, we need right minded people to govern us. Shame on all you abusing public resources!!
