KK is well and on holiday

File: First Republican President Kenneth Kaunda recently celebrated his 87th birthday. Above, Dr Kaunda cuts his birthday cake during the launch of a book, ‘The Future Has Arrived’, which was written by author Grieve Sibale (right).

THE office of the first President has dismissed media reports that Dr Kenneth Kaunda was taken ill to a Namibian Hospital. Chief of staff in the office of the first President Godwin Mfula said in Lusaka yesterday that Dr Kaunda was in Namibia on his annual leave that was approved by Cabinet office.

“We do not know where that information is coming from because Dr Kaunda has been in Namibia for the past two weeks on his annual leave which is approved by Cabinet office.

“This is a normal holiday and he is there as a guest of President Sam Nujoma. I personally spoke to him yesterday (Saturday) and he was complaining of some uneasiness but not that he has been taken ill,” he said. Muvu Television yesterday reported that Dr Kaunda had been taken ill to a Namibian hospital.

  1. From the man who brought the word “kachepa!” That’s what we have become- “A Nation of Kachepas!” PF kachepering on UPND, MMD on UPND! Kachepa, why can’t you leave us alone! We are tired of you. Please leave kachepa to Times of Zambia, Daily Mail and one Chanda Chimba III.

  2. In zambia people dont understand that its normal to be sick…why should this become an issue…

  3. The misinformation in our media is alarming. Read todays Post and you will see what Iam talking about they are even quoting KK’s son Dr Waza Kaunda. Either Waza is lying or this article is false which is which?

  4. Excellent observation from # 4. Times of Zambia, please getting sick is not a sin. If you reported that KK is arrested for corruption, then we would be awed. Please. Nao mudala muntu.

  5. #2 kamwendo,
WHY HAVE YOU CONTINUED TO BE A DOUBTING “THOMAS” ALL THESE YEARS? I PRAY THEE THAT YOU DONT MISS YOUR OPPORTUNITY WHEN IT SHOWS UP OR ELSE YOU WILL BE STILL IN THE DOUBTING SEASON.

  6. ZNBC has mentioned that KK is hospitalised in NAMIBIA so what is the times of zambia saying.

  7. You people do you think Dr Waza could lie about his father, why did the refuse him to go and board the plane, The State House are just ashamed, because they did not announce the sickness of the President Kaunda. Waza does not need to get permission from Banda to announce , he is his daddy period. Dr Waza when you come back , please let us know how you find your father, so that we can shame the State House. Stupid people. We love our Kaunda more than you Banda, failure.

  8. And now ZNBC reports that a team of medical experts have been sent to Namibia! check ZNBC website? Those of you who call the post names, please reflect on what the post reports and where necessary apologise

  9. And at exactly 12:55 hours yesterday, Dr Waza phoned saying he had been checked in and was waiting to board the plane to Namibia.

Meanwhile, Dr Kaunda’s granddaughter, Musata Kaunda, said she spoke to him yesterday afternoon and he was feeling much better.

“He’s recovering well though he’s still in hospital. I don’t know when he’ll be discharged,” said Musata.

Is all this lies from post?

  10. The Weekly Post journalists would be very proud of the consistency The Post haz maintained since its inception in mid 1989, while thoze vibrant early reporterz of the public media would shed tearz to see what haz become of theze organizationz today.

  11. Times of (lies) Zambia. This paper is bent on telling lies in its bid to defend the RB regime. Fortunately sensible people do not swallow everything that is reported by the Times of Zambia Lies.

  12. READ BELOW AND SEE HOW USELESS TIMES OF ZAMBIA IS,The office of the first President has dismissed media reports that Dr Kenneth Kaunda was taken ill to a Namibian Hospital. 13. PF cadres, with the latest news of a Zambian medical team being dispatched to Namibia, what can you say now about the Times of Zambia?

  14. mr mfula is in lusaka. dr kaunda is in namibia so is cheswa kaunda. cheswa has confirmed that kk was taken ill. mr mfula spoke on sunday. cheswa spoke today. on the other hand, mr mfula knows dr kaunda better than his children. he is speaking from experience. namibian government may have taken dr kaunda’s uneasiness which comes with age a bit to seriously. bonse mwebalelemba apa namwishiba ati ba kaunda bakote. he is just like a kid at best. otherwise the story that kk was taken ill is stone-dry true! even mr mfula’s assurance that he is ok is meritorious! mwilalwa

  15. anyway have never heard him being sick at least once in a while one becomes no big deal.but i salute him he takes care of himself very well.by the those whi wants to know how to takecare of the body just contact me no ka pot belly.
