Opposition New Generation Party President, Humphrey Siulapwa has continued his incessant attacks on the Post Newspapers. In his usual style, Mr Siulapwa is this time, claiming that the privately-owned media institution is endangering national security by being critical of the Rupiah Banda led government.
Speaking in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Siulapwa also said the Post Newspapers has proved to be a problem for the current government’s reign.Mr. Siulapwa said that media institutions should not side with particular political parties before, during and after elections. He has advised media institutions to help promote peace as the country heads to the polls.
Mr Siulapwa has meanwhile downplayed his assertions of acts of intimidation on the media. Mr. Siulapwa said his party supports self regulations of the media in the country.
He has however called on the media to be more responsible in their reporting..
But Post Newspapers Managing Editor, Amos Malupenga has declined to respond to Mr Siulapwa saying doing so would be degrading.
But Mr Malupenga has said assured the Post Newspapers’ responsibility in its reporting.
He has explained that this is why the media institution is part of calls for self-regulation.

Siulapwa, is misplacing his mind by overrating an inconsequential tabloid. RB and MMD’s people driven victory in decision 2011 does not impinge on the tabloid but service unprecedentally realized to the people. With its incorrigle hatred and ghetto journalism, if the Post tabloid was an issue in this dispensation they would have unpatriotically delivered the 2008 election to their disoriented perential loser Sata. Even more they would have stopped 2011 election as they so belabor in vanity when their demi-god Sata is disoriented. Because they are useless kitchen sink hate ghetto journalists, elections are on and MMD is on a winning course.
Stupidity is now being sold at the market place and everyone is exposed to it, where are we going as a nation. The most unthinking politician like Siulapwa with his politics of the stomach. What a shame. His stament is purely baseless, which media cover every political party fairly. No single media, We dont have a newspaper in the country. They have lost the swagger of self confidence, which has been replaced with misguided insolence and uncouth alignment to one party or another since 2006. I have commented on the illusions Post editors have.They believe so much in the so called power of the pen which power failed to take Sata to plot 1.If these chaps at the post are moral people they should be ashamed of themselves for failing in this respect.Driven by hate they still think they can help dilodge RB. Supporters of the Post. Politics aside the Post has simply lost its way. And interestingly one discerns, albeit anecdotally, a sense of frustration by Post, (the PF proxy) supporters. I am sure that Mmembe is a travelled man. I am surprised at his lack of professionalism and poor judgement. As Josef P points out he fails to realise that Zambians are now experienced democractic consitituents having seen four elections. Anna, I agree. I a am merely pointing out my disappointment with the failure of the private media although I use Mmembe as the proxy. There is a big gap for private independent media in Zambia. The Post filled that void for sometime alongside some other smaller players, but unfortunately they have failed to stay the course because Mr. Mmembe turns out to be a mere mortal like the rest of us. The situation we find ourselves in is very bad for democracy where checks and balances are absolutely essential.
I may add that this is a serious indictment of the MMD Government which has turned public media into their own vuvuzelas (sic). This too is a scourge worth fighting.

I was a die-hard reader of the Post but it’s partisan reporting and incessant hatred for another political party (??) has been a disgrace and is so revolting. Every time i skim through their online news – it is full of attacks and nothing positive about the government. They (government) may be corrupt or thieves but at the same time they deserve lauding the good things that they have done and minimise on fault finding. Please REPORT RESPONSIBLY and not so provocative as to incite violence – don’t undermine the power of words!
It is fact, the Post has an agenda, and at times, they blutantly boast that they will help remove the Government from power. Individual views and feelings of its directors are being forced upon the nation.

Without Post news paper, Movi Tv, Mobi, Lusaka times, and Zedleaks I do not know how life would have been to some of us how would we air our views and learn what is going on in the country. I want to give my objective opinion, Siulapwa is not a straight and fair guy given his unquestioning support 4 RB. Not that RB is not to be supported but his support is purely to benefit from the money that MMD usually dishes out 2 its supporters. However, if you do not like some1, it does not mean that he /she cannot be right in any issue. In this case of the POST, i think he is right. the POST simply put has lost credibility and objectivity…They are not to be trusted…I just have a gut feeling they are up to something unholy.
