The opposition United Party for National Development, UPND, in Southern province says there is need for the Zambia News and Information Services to intensify voter sensitisation campaigns.

The opposition party said intensifying the campaigns is the only way of encouraging high voter turn out for the October 30 Presidential elections.

UPND Provincial Publicity Secretary, John Chidyaka, said in a statement to ZANIS in Choma today that party is, however, impressed with the civic education campaign being conducted by ZANIS ahead of the elections.

Mr Chidyaka advised government to ensure that ZANIS is adequately funded to enable the media institution reach out to rural areas so that people could be availed information necessary for them to make informed decisions in the polls.

He said the ZANIS infrastructure such as mobile video vans  and Public Address equipment should be put to good
use for the benefit of the public.

ZANIS embarked on a voter sensitization exercise in various district to prepare the electorate for the October 30 presidential poll.

Mobile announcements coupled with night video shows are being conducted in rural areas.

  1. That is a very important point UPND, keep it up. We need more votes for us to win, hence, the need to sensitize especially in the rural areas.

VIVA HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. WE CANT WAIT TO SEE HH RULLING

  2. What are the qualities of the next Zambian president the people of Zambians are looking for? ‘A POSH CURRICULUM VITAE/RESUME or LEADERSHIP?

  3. It is very shameful to have useless people like # 2 Ichalo Lifupa who don’t appreciate the importance of Education.

Am very sure you are Sata’s Cader, because Sata is as Ignorant as you are.

  4. #3, you have missed the point. Try next time to make sense out of what others have written before responding. I am just an ordinary zambia with high expectations of who will become the next president. You have failed to look beyond CV. It is not just a question of chanting slogans, but we should be looking at the calibre of the would be president, being with a good cv coupled with some leadership qualities as well as someone with a drive to move this country forward. I would not mind if you #3 stood for presidento as long as you have what it takes to move this country forward. #3, please do not answer back but I would suggest you got back into bed so that you wake up with a clear head.

  5. What is the cv of your candidate? is it keeping council money in his personal account or carrying K2billion in his briefcase or having a chain of women in Lusaka and consequently heaps of children or is it using valger langauge on television or standard six certificate or grade d lilayi police certificate. Tell us your candidate’s qualification. HH has put his CV but your candidate cant even put one because he has nothing.

  6. Good point, it remains to be seen to be seen whether ZANIS will live up to these expectations with Emmanuel Nyirenda banning all phone in programmes, what a shame in the 21st century, the irony of it the prime minister in the UK dates the press, in Zambia we run away from it.

  7. Mr. Chidyaka is right, but should go further to make sure that ZANIS does not campaign for RB and spread propaganda for him. They should show Sata and HH’s campaign messages as well!

  8. How can RB become President? He’s corrupt. Distributing goodies in Eastern province. What has RB done in his 7 decades of life in Zambia? What does he stand for? He is just an opportunist. NI PA BWATOOOOOO this time and RB stand no chance. HH, too, is a recipient of Privatisation REAP OFFS. He can’t be more wealthy than Dr Kaunda!!! Where did he get the bucks from? HH and Valentine Chitalu shall account for the privatisation mess. If Thabo Mbeki can be aligned before the law and is now about to lose Presidency, who nis RB? Sata will SURELY PUT MORE MONEY IN THE OUR POCKETS by TAX REDUCTION. Sata can boast of having created Avondale, Chelstone, the two Fly Over bridges. PABWATOOO!!!

  9. ‘Ichalo Lifupa’ you impress me how you convince ‘Ntambu 1’ to take a nap. I equally agree with you – We need a lot of leadership qualities in people management besides a rich CV. It will therefore, do us a lot of good if we concentrate on issues that we put food on the plates of the zedians.

  10. HH FORWARD.come 30 oct Zambia all the doubting thomas like PONYAX will be shoked.HH has just won the hearts of many Patriotic Zambians who are ready to GIVE him that important vote on 30th

    5.Chain of women in lusaka
6.Chain of children from these women.

  14. RB and Sata are the same, remember, they represent the past. Besides both are known to be tribalists, corrupt if not friends of plunderers. HH represents the future, a man with clean hands. this is the man who can take zambia forward. Ni pakubokooooooooooooooooo chabe.
