An unidentified middle aged man has had part of his face ripped off after strong winds swept through the new multi billion kwacha Bread of Life International Church Building in Lusaka.
ZNBC Staffer Patricia Mapiki who was at the service reports that the man was immediately rushed to the University Teaching Hospital on Saturday.
The strong winds coupled with heavy rains also disrupted a dedication service of the new Church in Lusaka’s Emmasdale township.
The hell storm which lasted for close to ten minutes caused a near stampede in the Church as hundred of congregates scampered for dear life.
EARLIER Bread of Life Overseer bishop Joe Imakando says the centre will serve as a prayer platform for thousands of people.
Others that attended the service include political parties representatives and other Local and International church leaders.

A forty year old man has died after a ceiling board sliced half of his face after a heavy downpour in Lusaka’s Emmasdale area on Saturday.
The man who has been identified as Ashtoni Nyirenda from Kitwe died on his way to the University Teaching Hospital on Saturday.
Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela confirmed the death in an interview with znbc on Sunday morning.
The man is one of the construction workers at the new bread of life church building.
Mr Nyirenda was badly injured by falling pieces of the church ceiling board after strong winds blew off parts of the newly built multi billion kwacha Bread of Life International Church in Lusaka’s Emmasdale township.

This man was my distant relative and just came in from his home in Kitwe the night before. He has been an Engineer on site during the project and unfortunately he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. A piece of heavy asbestos ceiling fell on him during the wind storm. Sad story indeed.

If the building has a design fault then it is NOT THE FAULT OF THE PASTOR. It is the fault of fake, dull, clueless Zambian Engineers who can’t seem to be able to build anything in this country. Even the footbridge over Great East Road at University of Zambia, I remember that it took our local Zambian Engineers TWO years to build it and it still ended up looking like a shanty compound structure. It had to take the then Minister of Works and Supply to give the contract to a Chinese to finish the job properly. You Zambians, even on this blog, you talk too much and produce NOTHING. This was unfortnunate, but my advice to all those condemning without knowing the facts well is let God who knows everything be the judge. For your information, it wasn’t only Bread of Life that was affected and not only this man’s life that was lost (may his soul rest in peace). Emmasdale and surrounding areas were badly affected by the storm. Another death elsewhere within the neighbourhood was reported as a result of the storm, and many structures were affected (roofs blown off, walls broken, etc.) So to pinpoint this at Bread of Life or Bishop Imakando solely is just wrong.

Being a Zambian I am appalled at our building standards. Even after 47years of independence we still cannot put up a safe building. Our safety standards are the worst. Was the building inspected before its official opening? There is total confusion everywhere you look. People of God we need to pray for our nation. There is something wrong going on. Have some of these so called builders been exposed to the Western way of building? Shame on you crappy builders.

Economics master and high paying job? that’s rubish..I own copper and gold mines, and multibillion kwacha investments just here in Zambia. av built two mansions in Chalala and four in Meanwood, all with swimming pools and ACs..I recently bought a shopping complex in some place I wont mention..I take my kids to school with a hummer and go for work in a Crysler..the Bishop is my spiritual father and I honor him despite my wealth..what’s wrong with him buying cars? those are just toys..if you can’t buy anything beyond your pants please don’t hate!

We are in the dispensation of grace in this new testament and God is not judging people by making sure the building gets spoilt, otherwise everyone who has left a comment here would have already been swallowed by the ground if that were the case.
