A meeting of all chiefs and district commissioners in Southern Province to discuss development is taking place in Choma.
The two day meeting locally known as ‘indaba’ which is also being attended by some provincial heads of department is taking place at Kozo lodge.
Opening the meeting, Saturday, Southern province minister Daniel Munkombwe said the provincial administration decided to convene the chiefs’ meeting to deliberate on development issues affecting the province.
Mr Munkombwe told the gathering that government is determined to attend to all developmental needs of all chiefdoms in the province.
He urged traditional leaders to freely deliberate and offer suggestions that will help improve the living standards of their subjects.
And Mr Munkombwe has told the chiefs that the new graders procured by government for road rehabilitations which arrived in the province will soon be deployed in various districts to begin feeder road rehabilitations before the onset of the rains.
He said with or without an election, development must be facilitated especially that road infrastructure is critical to improving the economy.
The minister also disclosed that good progress is being achieved on the reconstruction of the Bottom road in the Gwembe valley, the tarrying of the Choma-Namwala road and the Batoka-Maamba road.
And speaking earlier on, provincial Permanent Secretary Darius Hakayobe said the role of chiefs is paramount in the development process of the province.
Mr Hakayobe said government would continue delivering some development programmes through chiefs because they are non partisan.
Southern province has 41 chiefs.

an indaba at this time? who is sponsoring this meeting and why only in southern province? are we going to see similar meetings taking place in all the provinces? someone here is campaigning….and we know who
please dont start the endorsment let elctions flow without interference i know its just a way of wanting to rig the elections
Please dont rig please dont rig
RB has plunder the economy in 4 months more than chiluba did in 10 yrs (% wise).Be worry of this man for he is a parasite.A task force should be constituted to investigate the last 4 months from levy’s illness to now.
Dont involve the chiefs.Mwakwibilafye umuchanga umo.
An indaba ths time RB n asociates just becoz were quiet does mean were stupid 4 months a position and wer mud slingin hw about a year? We wont take riging this time plan well b4 u becom ‘sour daddy’
HH waboola (HH has come). MMD is panicking for Southern Province.
To the UPND campaign team, please follow those GRZ graders as they will be grading and put stickers on them for HH. Also, inform people that HH has finally managed to ge the GRZ to bring the road development just in time before the elections. I urge the UPND MPS to take this opportunity seriously to convince their constituencies that they will take more development to those places once HH wins the OCT 30, 2008 elections.
Viva HH. Vote for HH for economic emancipation. The time has come for Zambia to see real change in all aspects of governance.
#7 Did you get my email? Ba Mukombwe is paniking he knows HH is serious no chance for MMD whether roads are graded this time we need change that we can believe VIVA HH VIVA UPND ngo yu gentreman man ngo yo gentreman HH abola.
who is munkombwe by the way..the chap can not even use a computer
#8, yes thanks. More later on it.
How are we doing in Kitwe in terms of support?
….
I smell matuvi. What development are they trying to discuss nowwhich they couldn’t discuss last month or the one before. Pipo of the south, your chiefs are being bribed but you should make the decision yourselves on whom you want. Am sure old Man Munko is busy telling lies as to how the M.A.D. company is the only company with a clear vision for this nation. Coming to think of it, the cheapest items on the zambian market are chiefs. They can be bought with sugar and mealie meal by some chidumbo maliketi. Ala mwasebana mwe mfumu shapa zed
Kitwe lacks visinary leaders. I do not know even the district officials. Iam triying to get hold of these leaders so that we can make a move to turn round kitwe for HH Iknow the Boat man has support for Kaponyas but we can convice the educated poeple for the Getreman.
Thats a good move. I have been talking about this for sometime now. By doing this, they take part in the running of the country affairs. Instead of sitting down and crying that, ‘we want this and that leader…we don’t want this and that leader’. This is a secured move and they can be sure of development under any presidential leadership. Bravo!!!!

Things are getting bad for the tongas, time is running out for the tongas and the situation is becoming volatile.Time to develop new methods of tribalism and ways of rigging using witchcraft.
What a shame, Southern province has had no development for the last 50 or so yrs. Remember all the power in Zambia is from the Southern province (Kafue town used to be part of that province until quite recently).
Now Mwaanga and his friends want to rubbish the opposition by appearing to promote development? Zambians don’t let such strategist enter Govt because all they are interested in is themselves not the people and here I mean every Zambian. SP is one place they know they need to win and so they are planning to use political magic to unsit HH in one of his strongholds.
Ba Munkombwe, all mouth and no action. Livingstone-Zimba road is in a very bad state he needn’t hold an indaba to figure that one out or other issues.
Any excuse to stay in a lodge

you just made my day (lol)
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
This is the correct time to get stakeholders input into next years budget. The Southern Province PS and minister are doing the right thing. The Chiefs have a role to play in development. Planning should not stop because of a by election.
Chiefdoms targets of corruption and lies.I’m sure tax payers money is being used for the bills at the logde.

#21 are you sure the one putting comments in blue is foolish. What makes you think is foolish? Mind your language boss. We are serious with HH. Jokes aside. Wait and see after all you may not even vote. Are you a registered voter?
Do not be threatened about these meetings concerning the chiefs and RB henchmen. There is no strong cohesion between chiefs and subjects in the SP as it is in other provinces. Let the chiefs enjoy what Kaingu has to offer at Kozo Lodge. Come 30/10 the subjects, including the chiefs themselves know who to vote for. Forward with development, abash brown envelopes.

LATE president Levy Mwanawasa’s family has released former first lady Maureen to remarry or join politics after conducting a traditional cleansing ceremony yesterday.
Family representatives James Likwabila and his sister Edith Likwabila said in an interview that Maureen was now a free person to do whatever she wanted.
Edith thanked the government for the manner in which it mourned late president Mwanawasa as a President of Zambia.

Source: Electoral Commision of Zambia (Website) but re-done to make it easy for campaign strategists for 4 presidential candidtes for the OCT 30, 2008 to make adjustments to their campaign moves before it is too late.
Analysis:
Sir HH beat Honourable Sata in 5 provinces while Honourable Sata out-numbered Sir HH in 4 provinces with Brig. general Miyanda clearly being being a non-competitor in the 2006 presidential elections.
Therefore, Sir HH is a more National leader than honourable Sata.
If we go by the old adage, “history repeatys itself,” Sir HH will take more provinces again than honourable Sata. The only difference this time around is that Sir HH will have more votes in Lusaka and copperbelt province thereby making Honourable Sata a non-competitor together with Brig. General Miyanda. With this data, I leave with “let us wait and see.” May you all have a good and blessed day.
Watch this space, that woman was never in love with Levy, I think she is up to something, why the hurry and public announcement?
Bwezani as a new entrant will have to produce a very interesting first time result probably in his whole life on the political scene.
I be there for live courage of this year’s Presidential results as they will unfold.
May the best man win! All the best to all the 4 successful candidates on having been nominated as they run a marathon for Plot 1.
ABwezani muli odwala
What a shame to win an election, RB knows that he can not win by issues or development policy, hence he is buying votes in day light by bribing chiefs who too have corrupt like MMD.
Anti corruption, arrest these men for corruption!
As for RB, Zambians know your plans and UNIP mentality, see you have running govt; threatening Post and businesses..enough is enough!
Come Oct 30, you will loss bad time…Resign now and get full benefits now as Vice president and Acting President..otherwise come Oct, you will get nothing from President MC Sata.
Is someone paying you Bwezani to mess up the blog with you illusions?
Maureen has been allowed to marry coz the levy’s family knew of all her affairs and they dont want to pretend. Her boy friend was waiting for her in kabwe as they family was deliberating.
Stategically speaking RB has no chance to win the presidency on Oct 30. RH has become so desperate, now wonder he is buying votes with meali meal, salt and sugar. He is now pushing chiefs to tell their villagers to vote for him in exchange for cars.
With chance so slim for RB to win, he can redeem himself by resign now or govern until Oct 30th, that way he will receive full benefits as VP and acting President. To compete when it is clear he will loss will cost him dearly. He will get nothing from in coming President MC Sata. By withdrawing now from elections or resigning,he will get his full benefits which a larger package for him…
RB has a choice tor retire in dignity rather than
come what may HH for zambia .i am tired we are now just remaining with 32 days for HH to come and save the economy of zambia.
#29 even u.ur folish.im a registerd voter and im voting n 30th october.if u cnt see th folishnes in the blue coments, that makes me wnda ur thinkin capacity..Some of u guys hu support HH js do it the wrng way,by emphasizing tht he’s ur triblemate, nowander upnd is finished..
bwezani u r a thinker u just made my day. Forward with the nation. Its only HH to liberate Zambia from poverty. Economic development will not come by making drama and using vulgar language. We now want a present with a head on his neck and not a stone. UPND is not finished its winning. The guys work with strategies and not just shoulting in public. HH and the nation!!!

Now they are trying to bribe the poor chiefs. Please it is too late because if you had endorsed ba Magande, i could have supported you. They is no blessings in this one
Umm Bwezani, you are turning this into an obession easy mune.
# 6,7,15,16,17,18 and 19 By the time i get read what you wanted to say ninshi ninaka reading your name. What was it you saying again?
Munkombwe and your minions you are just wasting your time. Where were you all this time to bring development to southern province at campaign period? Those chiefs and their people know what to do come 30 october.
mamamama, imfumu sha kumusanza balashilishamo aba bakabwalala elo shikalande ati shile sapota rupiah banda. where’s anti-corruption commission kanshi? limbi nabena alibachekelako banda lintu aileko. amamen bakali.
Graders will not make the Cattle people of Southern Vote for MMD. This shows that even those advising them dont know Tongas. Eradicate DENKETE (Corridor Desease) and you will get their VOTE. MMD is silent on this issue, PF only talks about the BROOM and SWEEPING CLEAN. This strategy will not sway a Tonga Man. After all he can move bare footed with a Herd of 1000 Cattle. UPND is the only one that talks about erradicating Cattle Deseases thats why the Party looks appealing to them. NOT TRIBAL. In 1991 they Voted for Chiluba because the Campaign message at that time by Desai was that Denkete would be erradicated. PF & MMD IVE GIVEN YOU A LIKAGE. IM 100% TONGA & KNOW WHAT IM SAYING.
Do you realise that HH is losing ground in Southern Province very fast? In the last elections in June this year HH and UPND lost in Kazungula constituency and Siavonga Constituency in Ward elections there. MMD carried the day. Speaking to most UPND MPs I find that they are not campaigning and not inclined to. They say they do not like the leadership style of HH. Kahenya the SG and his group are just waiting for HH to bite the dust so that Kahenya can take over as leader. HH’s own people have set him up for the biggest political sting in Zambia’s history. Wait for 30 October.
No 67 graded roads will help the Tonga with 1000 cattle not to have to walk hundreds of miles to get his cattle to market. It will also allow people to drive to the Tonga with 1000 cattle and buy directly without the Tonga having to travel long distances. It will also be easier to deliver medicine to combat denkete if there is a good road. It seems you cant even recognise a good thing when it is staring you in the face. MMD and RB are on the right track.
Ba MODERATE keep on dreaming.
No 70 Muramo, are you denying that UPND lost those last two contests in Southern Province? Who is stating facts and who is dreaming? What evidence do you have of the growth of UPND. I have given you solid facts showing the slide of HH and UPND into obscurity. Did you see how much of a flop the Freedom Statue rally was after the HH filing of nominations or were you dreaming at the time?
Countrymen UPND is weaker under the chieftainship of hh.hh has not been of a value to the party, lets be honest.records are there for everyone to see.stop day dreaming
uyu bwezani alatushupa!nikwisaafuma kanshi…..
vote HH for development please MMD no buying votes again we are fade up.VJ we know you
My personal predictions are as follows
Northern – PF
Eastern – MMD
Western – UPND
Sothern – UPND
North western – MMD
Copperbelt – PF
Luapula – PF
Central – tie between MMD and PF
Lusaka – PF
#75 You are right but not that HH will central province. I have no doubt about that. In fact he might have difficulties in western province but he will definately win central province. In Lusaka I expect Sata to win lusaka town but HH will win the rural lusaka votes ie lusaka west, chongwe and kafue.
No 75 you are so wrong about Western. Western is going to be MMD. All the influential people in Western are for RB. This includes the ULP leadership from Sakwiba Sikota, Inonge Wina, Francis Simenda, Mutila Shumina, Batuke Imenda, Hon. Eileem Imbwae, Hon Situmbeko, Akashambatwa Lewanika, The independent MP Charles Milupi, Nellie Mutti, Mwangala Zaloumis, the Lishomwas etc. Which influential Lozi is for HH or UPND? Let us be serious. That is why in June 2008 HH and UPND came in last out of five parties contesting in Kaoma.

#78 Ba Maestro, How old are you? Why do you have to behave like a teenager. Wow, some of you Tongas don’t grow up.
Number 36,
Leave Maureen out of this please. Let’s respect people’s lives. Politics yes, because we are democratic. Relationships NO, don’t even try to pretend to belong to Levy’s family.
Don’t be simple minded. Sit down and draw out a plan for your future. I thank you
no.78 iam also disappointed in you why dont you give us your age (FIRST) so that we analyse your thinking. its true most pf members are kaponyas why worry, that is his/her opinion. as for me i analyse issues and i want to vote for a visionary leader not those who failed us in 70s,80s,90s,and in this 21st centry viva MR HH.
NO.79 i was trying to respong to Kalos20202 to first give us his/her age. not my tonga bull guy.
I just get defeated with poverty here at home, chiefs have suck the boots so that they are fed…. my God, Nibamukongwe bapwa umwaka umo…
Predicted outcome for the by-elections;
Luapula ( 65% PF, 30% MMD,5% UPND)
Northern ( 40% PF, 55%MMD, 5%UPND)
Lusaka ( 35% PF, 45% MMD, 20% UPND)
Eastern ( 5% PF, 80% MMD, 15% UPND)
Central ( 10% PF, 40% MMD, 50% UPND)
Southern ( 2% PF, 15% MMD, 83% UPND)
Western ( 2% PF, 60%MMD, 28% UPND)
N/Western ( 1% PF, 50%MMD,49% UPND)
Copperbelt ( 40% PF, 35%MMD,25% UPND)
Summary of the results 31% MMD, 30% UPND,24% PF. There will be a poor voter turn out in the northern parts of the country and a lot of pipo have migrated to other towns for green pastures and are not likely to vote. The 2006 elections had registered 30% apathy and spoiled votes…this by election 45% might be the apathy rate
guys do you know that Rb was welcomed at the likumbi ya mize with HH symbol and was rejected kamulongoti was booed? watch out.Pabwato is growing form strengh to strengh.
