A TRADITIONAL leader has said the technical committee of experts set to draft the Republican Constitution should maintain the preamble in which Zambia has been declared as a Christian nation.

Chief Puta of Nchelenge District said the spirit of Zambia as a Christian nation should be reflected in the new Constitution once completed.

This is because the nation had witnessed a number of developments since the declaration was made 20 year ago.

Speaking on Thursday during the 20 years commemoration of Zambia as a Christian nation, the traditional leader said unity should prevail if God was to continue pouring blessings upon Zambia.

Chief Puta called on the Church that had played a greater role in declaring Zambia as a Christian nation not to relent in preaching hard work and urged his fellow traditional leaders too.

“Zambia is moving towards becoming a garden of God, only the enemy of God would want to oppose the declaration,” he said.

And Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) executive director Pukuta Mwanza said the Church would support the Constitution making process that was believed to give the country an opportunity to come up with laws that would stop corruption.

Corruption was one of the worst forms of crime that had ruined the moral fibre of the country.

Reverend Mwanza who was the guest of honour at the ceremony said the Church would continue supporting the commitments by Government and law enforcement agencies in fighting corruption.

Heritage Party president Godfrey Miyanda urged the citizens not to be ashamed to confess that Zambia was a Christian nation and to also uphold and believe in the declaration.

Brigadier General Miyanda urged his fellow politicians to avoid lies at all costs saying this was rampant and was hopeful the situation would be different in the New Year.

“There has been a lot of lies form us politicians this year and I only hope the New Year would be different. Let’s avoid telling lies,” he said.

  1. “This is because the nation had witnessed a number of developments since the declaration was made 20 year ago”. What rubbish!!!

  2. Other countries of certain religions have acknowledged their “gods” and actually force it on all citizens, why should we just fail put something in the preamble. Infact that preamble does not subtract anything from us. GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  3. Zambia is rich in wisdom and intelligence. We will not allow men marrying men or women doing the same contrary to God’s law.

  4. it doesnot matter whether it is there or not. the country doesnot become christian by declaration but by acts. Actions speak louder than words. so let the actions of Zambians show that they are christians.

  5. A good constitution protects everybody, including minorities. Non-Christians are also Zambians and have the right to free to make their choices spiritually. Relationship with God is a personal one. Furthermore, democratic principle are not compatible with Christianity or any other religion. That is why mature democracies separate the State from religion.
Zambia is very far from being a Christian nation: highly corrupt leaders, abuse of children, immorality, the list is endless. Therefore to make the ‘Christian Nation’ CLAIM is a lie and living in denial.
Majority of Zambians are Christians and this has been the case long before a crazy guy made that declaration. I do not see what purpose this declaration serves apart from winning votes for the guys pushing for it.

  6. and what do we do to those who are not chriatians but are zambians? what if a non christian becomes a president in the near future, how is he/ she going to govern? what about this other churches that are not of christ, what do we do with them? answer me!

  7. What is wrong with a secular state?  This christian bullshit has brought more harm than good. Every thief wants to be forgiven as it is written in the bible, what about our laws? Chief Puta is not a person to talk about Christianity, maybe some people have forgotten the wood technology involved when Katele was a fugitive, there was nothing good and christian about it.

  8. #8 Jacob, has said it all !!, Next we shall declare Zambia as a nshima eating country and if you don’t eat nshima then you are not a Zambian.

  9. @ Jacob and Agony, if you are not Zambian stay in those countries of yours that support beastiality and all other greek.

    • Mwanawakwabo, where was that a man caught bonking a goat recently? Was it not in your Christian nation. Zigololo all over the shore; the same idiot who claims to have delivered Zambia to Jesus was a master criminal. The declaration did not stop Castro Chiluba, may his soul rot in hell, from terrorizing the nation, or did it?

You Christian hypocrites need to tone down. Your rhetorical bullsh!t aint cutting it. You should not force me to live by your rules, you hear? And who says that because I am not a christian I immediately become satanist. What kind of nonsense is that? Ata!

  10. Puta is also a crook. In the previous election cycle he told then opposition leader Sata, “I and my people will not vote for you if you don’t buy spare parts for my car. He can now talk about Christian nation?

  11. Macungwa and No. 8, If it means nothing to you Zambia being a Christian Nation why talk about it? Shut up.

And you Mature, May God forgive you because yo do not know what you are doing.

Zambia being a Christian Nation does not mean Christianity will be forced on anyone, weather you choose to believe in Christ or not you still a Zambian. Just like Christ did not force anyone to believe in Him, Christians will not force you either. Otherwise Repent and turn away from your sins.

For sure Zambia should remain a Christian Nation.

  12. Mwanawakwitu (#13) and My Zambia (#15), your comments prove the intolerance that we see as a problem. Your attitude is no different from those Islamic fundamentalists. From the way you express yourselves it is clear that you are not in tune with the love that your Jesus taught. You are christians by declaration but not by faith. We know true believers and we respect them. Not you, going by the way you present your stance. Abash fundamentalism. Personally I dont mind that declaration, but if it is going to be irrational and insensitive to others then it must go now.

  13. There you go #15, assuming that we are sinners is your christian belief. By asking people to repent you are assuming they are sinners when you don’t squat about them, you mofo are forcing your retarded christian belief on them. Apparently, this ya religion destroys your capacity to reason. Guilty as charged! Next!

  14. I can see a lot of anti Christ, it is written in the Bible am not surprised. These are the last days many will love money and evil more than the love of God.

My prayer is that the grace of God to continue being upon you so that when Christ comes you also be in the Kingdom of God, that is my duty.

About Zambia being a Christian motion IT SHOULD BE UPHELD IN THE CONSTITUTION. None of you can suggest in IRAN that it ceases to be an Islamic nation, none.

  15. #19 You are one of the reasons why I cannpot take Zambians seriously. You sound like a wack job. All this Christian lark is just brain washing from The West. I am an authentic Zambian who believes in a secular Zambia for all. My ancestors were here before the white man brought Christianity to my land.

  16. #15, I remember when people from a local Catholic church once decided to burn down a Kingdom Hall in Zambia during the UNIP days. So you need to be careful when you start castigating people you believe to be sinners. Christians in Uganda killed a Gay activist. Jesus said “let ye who has no sin cast the first stone”. But you guys conveniently forget this.
