The opposition MMD has refuted media reports that former President Rupiah Banda is soliciting to retain the party presidency during the forthcoming party convention.

MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe says the National Executive Committee (NEC) has already made a decision to replace Mr Banda during the party’s convention.

Major Kachingwe explains that Mr. Banda is currently acting to ensure that the handover of the party presidency is done in a systematic manner.

He has since advised all those wishing to contest for the position of party president to do so stating that the closing for applications will be done 24 hours before the elections.

And MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe has urged the public media not to use the party to clear its past mistakes.

Major Kachingwe told journalists in Lusaka today that the public media should take responsibility for the actions that could have dented their image.

  1. Wy where you not giving this kind of advise to the public media when in power. FOOLISH POLITICIAN

  2. there is the saying that the new broom promises cleanlyness of a house the way MMD is being insulted today tommorrow u be the same one insulting PF

  3. my president retire, you r a true democrat who did not steal the people’s votes to keep your self in power.keep it up and enjoy your resources peacefully.

  4. RB has already retired from the time he graciously handed over power to the constable. From a statesman to a constable. But you PF cronies do not understand what you here or read because although you might be literate but you are still ignorant. So just leave Africa’s statesman alone. Go and find something to scavenge on.

  5. RB has retired. He did his homework while still young no wonder he understand issues unlike the constable who always fears his own shadow. What a head of state.

  6. RB is the only man who knows how MMD went under so he is the right mn for the JOB please VIVA rb kumawa

  7. The fact that the applications are still open and knowing how RB loves money, I will only believe on the last day. I thought applications closed some time ago?

  8. It will be a huge relief to see the last of this charlatan former leader. Had he been allowed to do a Gbagbo Zambia by now would have been turned into a private family property for his greedy children and wife. This is very good riddance. I am also glad to note that MMD will never be a political force on our landscape. People now know that it is a party of serial plunderers and thieves who should at any cost never be allowed to grab the mantles of power ever again.

  9. MMD IS DEAD AND DUE FOR BURIAL, UNFORTUNATELY ZAMBIA HAS NO STRONG OPPOSITION AS OF NOW. WE NEED AN OPPOSITION POLITICAL PARTY THAT WILL AAPEAL TO THE PEOPLE IN ORDER TO CHECK THE PF GOVERNMENT

  10. its foolishness to insinuate that R B will continue as MMD president.we need people who are able to look at issues than these street kids and constables who always want see bad in every thing.Your execellency,we love u and we know u have retiredand rest well.
