Chipolopolo Secures AFCON 2025 Spot with Thrilling Victory Over Côte d’Ivoire

Ndola, Zambia – Jubilation swept across Zambia as the national football team, Chipolopolo, clinched qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Côte d’Ivoire at the packed Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. The electrifying match saw fans turn out in droves, uniting the nation in celebration of this significant milestone.

President Hakainde Hichilema joined the celebrations, congratulating the team for their remarkable performance and praising Zambians for their unwavering support. “We have done it! Chipolopolo it is! See you at AFCON 2025,” he exclaimed. “Job well done, lads, and thank you, Ba Zambia, for showing up in numbers, both at the stadium and wherever you were watching.”

The lone goal, which sealed Chipolopolo’s triumph, sent fans into rapturous applause, marking a triumphant return to AFCON after their last appearance. The President encouraged the nation to “trust the process,” reflecting confidence in the team’s ability to shine on the continental stage.

The atmosphere at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium was electric, with Zambian fans draped in the national colors, chanting and celebrating their team’s success. Across the country, supporters gathered in homes, bars, and public viewing areas, amplifying the festive mood.

Chipolopolo’s qualification is seen as a testament to the resilience and dedication of the players, technical team, and supporters. As Zambia looks forward to AFCON 2025, the nation’s hopes are high for another glorious chapter in its football history.

    • Dear Chipolopolo
Ignore who is behind you whether it is HH or Kamanga. Just focus. Focus on the game. Focus on Afcon. Focus on winning it. The fact that people have died for this sport shows you how seriously Zambians take this sport.
Dont worry that fans couldnt fill the stadium this past fixture. People hate losing and losers. They will turn up when you win Afcon. Yes you can win it. Right now people like Katongo and Mweene who have won it before should turn up at your training camp before you leave for Morocco to inspire you. Although Morocco are known for fixing games just turn up and show them you are the true winners.

  1. I will only congratulate you when you go past the group stage at AFCON, that is what matters. You have my full support Chipolopolo but I am just trying to alert you that there is work to be done ahead. That notion of qualifying to go and be spectators at the Africa cup should come to an end, better you don’t qualify if that is the case so that we save the money and channel to drought prone areas.

  2. The manner in which the qualification was achieved makes it especially very special. With a whole list of injured players the coaches kept changing the line up even well into the eleventh hour ; injured players ; Patson Daka , Lubambo Musonda, Fashion Sakala, Miguel Chaiwa, Joshua Mutale, Edward Chilufya, Lameck Banda, Lawrence Mulenga, Kingston Mutandwa. Congratulations Chipolopolo

  3. I think that was good game. Bana shiner maningi chabe. That’s what should be even better than that when they go to Morocco in 2025.

  4. Congrats but is the objective of going to the Africa cup well defined. Going as competitors or spectators?
