Enoch Kavindele

FORMER republican vice president Enoch Kavindele has joined other MMD presidential aspirants in denouncing corruption allegations involving some of the former ruling party’s top leaders.

And MMD Chisamba member of Parliament Moses Muteteka has vowed to eliminate all individuals perceived to be corrupt from the opposition party if voted as party president.

In an interview yesterday, Mr Kavindele agreed with party presidential candidates Felix Mutati and Nevers Mumba that there is need for the corruption tag to be removed from the MMD.

“That (corruption in MMD) is a very serious issue that we need to address,” Mr Kavindele said.

He, however, said he is ready to share his vision on the anti-graft drive in the MMD with the public this week.

On Thursday Dr Mumba feared that the MMD may die if delegates to the party’s May 25 controversial provincial polls are influenced by money as they vote for the its new leader.

He accused MMD members of money mongering, which he said has not helped the party, adding that money has destroyed the former ruling party and brought about hatred, lies, and forced members out of the party.

And Mr Muteteka said once voted as a party president, he will embark on a cleansing exercise to remove all corrupt people.

“I want to work with party members who are upright, God fearing and ready to sacrifice in being a better opposition party that will provide checks and balance to the government,” he said.

Mr Muteteka who is also Chisamba MP said whoever is corrupt will not have a room in the MMD once he is at the helm of the party.

He said MMD aspiring presidential candidates who are facing any corrupt charges or going to court for alledged corrupt charges to withdraw from the race .

Mr Muteteka said he had served in government for a long time and never has he been followed for any corrupt activity.

He said he does not want to be grouped or be associated with corrupt people.

Mr Muteteka said all individuals perceived to be corrupt should prepare themselves for exist if he wins because a new free corrupt MMD will be born.

He said the party will start on a new page with no grey spots and corrupt individuals will have no room.

  1. I thought I heard somewhere that the MMD was deregistered

What a corrupt country and mediocricity being exhibited to the extreme highest level imaginable

    Terrible country,

    Thanks

  2. Kavindele, since 1960s? I thought we said no to old guards. We now need fresh blood. Nevers, you lied too much and you are being investigated of being corrupt at the mission in Canada? Mutati, what about the ZESCO transformer? Chitundu is just waiing for you to be declared president for the pounce on you! I am sad, non is righteous, no not one. You gat to brave the corrutpion drag net all of you! I am sad again! The death and burial of MMD!

  3. They all want to fight corruption until they are voted then their fight ends as they end up entangled in the web too. Power is sweet, look how it corrupted Chiluba, RB and now Sata. As for the MMD, it will slowly vanish into oblivion like UNIP.

  4. all i voted for is change not that PF is upright they are one and the same and most of them migrated from MMD please GOD help us the rubbishes again

  5. MMD you have a chance to have Mutetaka or Kavindele. The other people are just good noise makers and they will not deliver at all. But nature loves disorderlines, I see Mumba or someone of that nature taking the day so as to completely kill the party.

  6. The journey MMD has embarked is that of METAMORPHOSIS to most former leaders perceived as corrupt to that of leaders who will be seen as clean in the eyes of the public. How can that be achieved? The question is soul serching and individuals have to come clean before they are reminded of their sins of theft. Example, Katele Kalumba who is in court over office abuse cases honourably stood aside from party and government activities pendind adjudication of his case. Mabenga misused CDFs (case records available if forgotten) needs to stand down voluntarily, so is Peter Daka and currently MMD should be allegic to a name of Liato, Konga, RB, Mwale, and all others going to courts with corruption cases.

  7. When everyone was afraid of fighting KK within UNIP… EK went for KK’s neck only to be threatened by UNIP naked old women. Since that day in 1990 EK looks confused! Try your luck EK and good luck to all!

  8. Who then, should vie for party presidency? The overwhelming truth is that one should be of younger generation, articulate, corruption free, able to mount an intelligent opposition with ethusiasm and level of experience at senior level of governance. The man should adhere tenaciously to principles of democracy. Not guided democracy of the last regime. MMD has potential to bounce back after perging itself from coruption tag to a new MMD with new leadership in place. With a new president in place, an extra ordinary conference called to replace all nec members to demonstrate the resolve of the new party.

  9. It is impossible to eliminate corruption from the MMD. I would rather eliminate the MMD, to leave corruption in peace!!

  10. These corruption or trible tags are political gimmicks meant to block others from assuming power. There is no single politician Worldover who is corrupt-free.

  11. Mushota you are a star back home in Zambia, Tell Nick about it and he will love you more to propose on top of Eiffel Tower (in Paris)!

  12. KAVINDELE and MUTETEKA just shut up and stop using corruption to decampaign candidates allegations by PF should not be used until the court pronounces one guilty of corruption the PF is using corruption to make people hate MMD bcos it is a strong opposition wake u fools.

  13. Mud sticks. Sometimes on both the one throwing it as well as the target. One suggests soap and water. Then a hearty scrub. Then comes convincing people that even though your own face and hands are clean, you will rap the knuckles of anyone found with a hand in the cookie jar. Also an extra set of eyes at the back of the head will catch the one wielding a knife in to your back but don’t forget to sleep with one eye open coz do much is done while you sleep on the job. Man, being a politician is hard work. I get an ulcer just looking at you guys operate :)

  14. ” Let’s address MMD corruption tag – Kavindele ”

This is from the same guy who started to sing the praises of the MMD during the elections, because he was promised support for his project.
