Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people of Kawambwa district has praised the Patriotic Front Government for the provision of mobile hospital medical services.The Mwata expressed his gratitude when newly appointed Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Anna Mwitwa paid a courtesy call on him at his Palace.
Mwata Kazembe said he was grateful to the government for stationing full Mobile Hospital equipment in Mwansabombwe, his chiefdom for eight days which had attended to over 800 cases on the first day.He said he was happy with the service because his subjects had received medical attention within their reach which proved less costly compared to travelling to Mansa General Hospital for medical attention.
And newly appointed Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Anna Mwitwa was informed that there was an overwhelming response in the Chiefdom for medical services that were brought to the people’s door steps in Mwansabombwe Constituency. Mwansabombwe Constituency Member of Parliament, Rodgers Mwewa who is also Luapula Province Minister said the mobile medical equipment had done a good job and people in his constituency were happy because their medical conditions were attended to.
Consultants for Mobile Hospital Services for Luapula Province Peter Phiri said over 2,900 cases were attended to in eight days.Dr Phiri revealed that 389 serious cases were attended to which included over 40 cases of hernia and over 40 cases of eye cataracts.He said the mobile medical team has been to Samfya, Milenge, Lwela,Chinsanka, Lukwesa, and Mwansabombwe and were going to proceed to Senior Chief Puta and Senior Chief Mununga’s Chiefdoms in Chienge District before going back to Mansa.

This was agood project but the only problem will sustainablity. We are yet to see how they will operate for next four years.

It will be folly and imprudent to just let the $50Million loan that RB committed the country to sit and go to waste. The use of these ill-conceived and reckless facilities is merely ad-hoc and not a replacement of permanent structures like MMD had intended.
These units will be utilized while permanent health facilities are being constructed across the country.
I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE IDEA BEHIND THE INTRODUCTION OF MOBILE HOSPITALS,TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO MEDICAL SERVICES TO CITIZENS WHILE PERMANT HEALTH FACILITIES WERE BEING CONSTRUCTED. THIS IS EVIDENT OF THE MANY PROJECTS OF HEALTH CLINICS AND HOSPITALS THAT MMD LEFT UNDER CONSTRUCTION. LETS LEARN TO APPRECIATE.
Very true, a loan is a loan irrespective of who contracts it but what is cardinal is to see to it that the Mobile Hosp does not drain our much needed resources like Doctor’s allowances, fuel and other operational costs. We heard recently that some personel were running away from some centres inorder to get allowances from the Mobile Hosp project, which is very bad.
Just face it. The idea is good; hats off to MMD. This is far cheaper than the Zambia Flying Doctor Service! PF is wise enough not to kill it.
