CBU Students boycott classes

Students at the Copperbelt University- CBU- in Kitwe on Wednesday boycotted classes protesting over a directive issued by the Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Naison Ngoma not to allow squatting in rooms at the campus.

Vice Chancellor Professor Naison Ngoma met with the Copperbelt University Student Union informing them about his decision.

In protest students at the institution gathered at the Monk square demanding for an address from Professor Ngoma.

Addressing the students, Professor Ngoma says the university wants to ensure that all students have decent accommodation.

He says plans are under way for the construction of more hostels within the university campus.

Professor Ngoma also disclosed that government through the public private partnership has already made funds available for the construction of new hostels at the university.

He however says, for now all students will continue staying at campus until the university finds alternative accommodation.

  1. he’s a stupid professor..where will the students go…?to his home,.,.

  2. ‘He however says, for now all students will continue staying at campus until the university finds alternative accommodation’. Doesn’t this mean squatting again? The hostels that are being talked about are not there yet but are a plan. Now if all of them are supposed to be on campus, where exactly will they be lodging? Provide a workable alternative as you wait for the planned hostels to materialise. As you lead a horse, make sure theres water where you are taking it

  3. That was irresponsible of Prof Ngoma to even think like that in the first place. Why enrol students you can’t accommodate. Just let them squate as you build and be quick about it otherwise it is a health hazard.

  4. Like many Nigerian clergy who go in the bush for days and practice juju the same with this self proclaimed prophet of doom (TB Joshua) after days of satanism they come and claim they are bishops, pastors etc..what a shame on the african land..indeed a cursed people..this is the fool that killed Bingu wa mutharika of Malawi..thats why (it) is not welcome in Zimbabwe..

  5. Its a insult to education and scholars to call this institution a University.

  6. Why was squatting ( overcrowding in halls of residence) allowed in the first place? This can only happen in a banana republic. I feel sorry for foreign students for them to put up with this kind of nonsense.

  7. I have seen a gullible Professor like Ngoma. How did he acquire his Professorship, may thru backdoor. Please show maturity when dealing with such sensetive issues concerning student accommodation. Stop day dreaming because it seems students are wiser than you so called professor. Why do you want to provoke the students? It pains me when I see administrators with big titles like Prof Ngoma but yet make foolish decisions. I understand wisdom is from God. Some people are educated but not civilized. Prof you been weighed and found wanting. Put your brain cells in order as you lead that second public institution.

  8. AT 4 U ARE A FOOL THE SUBJECT IS ABOUT CBU AND YOU WRITE ABOUT TB JOSHUA.YOU HAVE A MENTAL PROBLEM AND NEED SERIOUS PRAYERS,PLEASEBGO TO TB JOSHUA FOR PRATERS OR YOU SITUATION WILL BECOME WORSE.
