Major Water pipe bursts in Mandevu

Share

A Lusaka water and sewerage company, water pipe line has ruptured in Mandevu compound sending high pressure water gashing up.
The water pressure was too much such that it ripped off a section of the newly constructed tarmac road in the area. And Lusaka water and Sewerage Company has attributed the ruptured to the infrastructure’s old age.

  1. water being wasted while thousands of people in most compounds in lusaka have difficulties in getting water.shame on council for not carryng out inspections regulary.

  2. thats what happens when there is no maintenance involved in society..once something is built..then it is built..and the only time we will get to worry about it is when a problem arises..which is really sad really…same as the load shedding which is being blamed on too much power usage by the mining sectors..bullshit..poor ****ing planning by the government all over..allowing so much mining activities minus the taxation needed to finance the sustenance needed to run things…
****** government….change came and bit us right pa musula..

  3. WATER IS A GIFT FROM GOD FOR ALL LIVING HUMANS AND CREATURES SO IT SHOULD NOT BE ABUSED BY WASTEING IT,CAN THE RIGHT AUTHRORITIES QUICKLY REPAIR THAT BURST AND SAVE THE WATER FOR DRY DAYS AHEAD.EVERYTHING THAT BREATHES NEEDS WATER SO WATER MUST NOT BE WASETED.

    • water utilities or companies are run by the councils. e.g. Lusaka city council is a major shareholder of Lusaka water & sewerage co. while Ndola city council, Lysha, Masaiti run Kafubu water.

  4. @KWEKWE WHAT MAKES U THINK I AM NOT LIVING IN ZAMBIA AS I AM VERY MUCH LIVING IN LUSAKA IN KABOLONGA ? IS IT BECAUSE I HAVE AN YAHOO EMAIL ? I ..THOUGHT THE LUSAKA WATER COMPANY WAS PART OF THE COUNCIL.. I HOPE THIS ANSWERS YOUR CONCERN.

  5. @KWEKWE., I AM VERY MUCH AT HOME MY FRIEND.I JUST THOUGHT THAT LUSAKA WORKS WAS STILL PART OF THE COUNCIL. THANKS FOR YOUR CONCERN IN LETTING ME KNOW

  6. The Lusaka Times should introduce a demand of minimum IQ on all bloggers. Why don’t some people just shut up when they have no logic to share…

    • It’s called Freedom of Expression my friend. You cannot stifle someone’s freedom to say what they feel just because they are not articulate enough for we are all Zambians entitled as such.

  7. One of Zambia’s biggest problems is that of ignoring preventive maintenance in a almost all areas. We would rather buy luxury vehicles and work in posh offices than plan for adequate maintenance.

  8. Thats a shame, such incidents happens…………..one of those things. The utility company will sort out that one, not a big deal at all, period

  9. Old age!!!! Is that all you can say? What about maintenance!? Just when you think Zed is progressing you get to hear things like this! By the way, that is what will happen to all the “old” pipes in your government… old age!

    • Ba Applejoy I was born in Zambezi and I grew up in Kabompo and Chililabombwe before leaving for Toronto. Ala Zambia is not lusaka.

  10. Independence stadium area. Opposite of mathero or is it emmasdale? Area where they sell a lot of furniture. Inside the bloody compound are a lot of zezulus, other zimbos, congolez, somalians, and all sorts of mixed cut of african cocktail forming a black cosmopolitan of struggle like haiti, where all is wrong and jumbled, disorderly, a lot of entropy. Good ground for politics. Sata knöws this and he knows, knows!

  11. Sata knows these places and they are many. Chipata, kuku, chawama, misisi, kanyama, mathero, linda, chibolya, freedom, makululu, ng’ombe, kalikiliki, hellen kaunda, kalingalinga, garden etc. That is the vote is! And Sata said? Let them vend! Wondered why? He wanted to immediately make them feel good.

  12. Some have started to improve though. If someone tells you “I live in Kalingalinga”, don’t look down on them. There is massive business opportunity. Find a bank, filling station or night club there like mahela it is always jam packed to the brim. Owner must be making not less than K10m a single night! And beautiful houses and women are found there too!

  13. I write all this so that Zedians in the diaspora can have some picture! Perhaps some can have some business ideas germinating to come and put nice shopping malls, playpacks, mordern gymns, soccer accademies, polytechnics, nice surgeries etc and bring out talent out of these like Esther Phiris. Tu security cabe, but shrewed men do it! A lot of clients!

  14. Infact, these are places where you find a lot of artisans like bricklayers, welders, carpenters, metal fabricators, stone crushers, painters, electricians, plumbers, letter/signpost writers and a whole range of idle labour force.

  15. Now politics, Sata could go back to mandevu after losing an election and thank them for having voted for him. Has HH ever thanked the people of Choma?

  16. That water should have gone to produce electricity at Kafue Gorge. LWSC quickly repair that thing, dont waste water because water is life

  17. Lusaka Water moved in close the pipe in less than an hour, the pipe leak was around 05:40 hrs and by 06: 30 the pipe was closed. Water supply to mandevu was NOTdisrupted beacuse LWSC used other lines to supply mandevu. LWSC has over 100,000 pipes around the city and and it is logically acceptable for one pipe to leak. The Pipe burst was not as big as it has been potrayed above, that picture is not in Mandevu and probably in Zambia. The pipe was at the Market where we have the small shops called tuntemba. Our wish as LWSC is that the picture be replaced by the true and correct picture. infact one of the reports read that children would drown in the water, we wonder how because the deepness of the hole is about 30 centimeters deep while the affected area is about 1.3 meters in diameter.
