University of Zambia Students have abandoned their rooms preferring spending nights outside in protest against the continued strike action and with withholding of results by lecturers.
UNZASU President, Ali Tunkara, says the students will continue spending nights outside until the university is opened.
The re-opening of UNZA has been indefinitely postponed following a strike by unionized lecturers.
The lecturers have since withheld student’s results, a situation that has forced management to postpone the re-opening of the country’s highest learning institution.
Lecturers are demanding better pay and have refused to get the four per cent increment that management is offering them.
The refusal by lecturers to give results to senate has resulted in the university’s opening for this academic year being thrown into disarray.

This is the latest; ni pamalilo nanga? You supported PaFwaka (PF). Just continue sleeping outside at least that will also solve accommodation problems being experienced at UNZA. I end here!
Keep on sleeping out side, this is what you called for. UKWA says there has never been a strike at UNZA
Mukafwapofye nempepo na UNZA ikashale.. I wish you could sleep outside just for the kingdom of GOD. Everlasting home………………..
You might end up with malaria, watch out you might not see your results once malaria knocks you down
Good for you. Go ahead and sleep, after all there is not enough accommodation.
the university is so dirt denm
Too bad.but sleeping outside is not a solution.
No one will see you if you sleep in the ruins….”TO THE ROAD COMRADES!”
The highest learning institution looking like this now! My late brother who was one of the first graduates at this once vibrant campus would be maulesi…::o
there jus want to b bitchin outside with the UNZA bitches…
Its a more civil way to protest than going on rampage destroying property.
Hope authorities act soon
Point on. It’s primitive to continue destroying property worthy millions of kwacha which would later on come to affect the same saboteurs.
you can go sleep in the toilets you *****s you asked for this
Sad indeed. Ukwa if only students didn’t vote for u I wud have my degree
I don’t understand. If UNZA has still to re-open, why are the students there? The national University’s problem’s are not confined to the ‘narrow’ issue of salary and other conditions of service. They thread through a whole range of matters – from a long line of govts. and individual politicians lack of understanding about the value of education, selfishness, wrong priorities and mere dullness. And when you do not understand the place of a University in society, you even then fail to maintain its structures and everything else that is supposed to provide a condusive atmosphere of learning. Kaunda, though, in terms of education was the better of the lot.
Start destroying property abaiche, we dont listen to such whimp protests.
Light up a few cars and close that road and the university will be open in no time.
These kids have zero brains, I wonder how they got to UNZA. Sleeping outside exposed to the elements will get them sick and there are no hospitals to go to, so who is losing in the end?
it hasnt got anything to do with the president. Pa UNZA fye naimwe natumitendwa no kupanga utuma news twenu. u even save nothing in our country as compared to NORTEC students.who do you think you are in our country? ifiko bafikala.
look at that chi guy in a yellow shirt? ati niba guy saana. i work and its up to you burgers.

What about Kambiz???
what happened to your ramdan. i thought we heard last that you were on hunger strike. please stick to one strategy. the hunger strike will bring quick results. if one of you dies there will be a quick reaction from our beloved government.
When I was a Monk, fax machine (message) achieved the quickest response! Roadside!!!!!
Its time we started to value education in Zambia. Countries that have developed have paid special attention to education but us in zed. i wonder if we want our lecturers to go outside to work or what yet we are calling people in diaspora to come, come back and be paid peanuts? lets seriously look into the plight of the lecturers before we loose all our brains to neighbouring countries and beyond.
This is what the President should be dealing with and not talking about Dr. Mumba and his lack of developing Chinsali. Those who voted for Mr. Sata tell him to keep quite when he has nothing to say. What kind of President is this who is perpetually in campaign mode. You are now President wake up and govern. Your works will campaign for you. Campaign mu 2015. Ala twacula. God help Zambia
Were those buildings gutted by a fire before?

its a pity that people r insuliting the future, Students has the right to express their feelings once things r not normal. Thats Democracy. The one to blame is the head who doesn`t seem to understand the problem since him/ her did not have a chance of having much somology. Good lucky UNZA student hug on on yuor RIGHTS you deserve it .
yuo are the same pipo who were insinuating that too much salary hikes will bring in inflation, now that govt has acted accordingly you start striking its high time civil servants enganged in other enterprises other than just crying to govt for salary hikes, GET BACK TO WORK U LAZY EDUCATED FOR N******* DONS, YOU AR DELAYING DEVPMENT, nowonda even your students also become as lazy en us******** as you, alwes demanding more pay even were theres’nt much input, jst bcoz they’ve a so called degree from unza
