William Banda has been arrested for his attempts to strangle a Muvi TV journalist Lloyd Kapusa.
Mr. Banda appeared at woodlands police station around mid day in the company of his lawyers, family members and a handful of UPND cadres shortly before he was taken into the police cells.
Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga confirmed that Mr. Banda has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
Mr. Hamoonga said that Mr. Banda will be released after meeting all the bond requirements and will appear in court soon.
Last week Mr. Banda roughed up Muvi TV photojournalist Mr. Kapusa who was filming him when he appeared at Government Investigative Team offices where he was summoned to answer chargers for being in possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime.

I just passed there 3 weeks ago and the contractor is doing well especially that all materials are coming from Zambia into Congo. Check the road by the end of next year. I t will be complete or near completion.People in Luapula can see for themselves and they do not just hear rumours.

What ever William Banda did is just a minor offence committed in public view, how can he be considered a danger to society? Why let hard core criminals on the loose and focus on a harmless old man?
