Kavindele Condemns Chingola Violence, Urges Respect for Presidency

Former Vice-President Enoch Kavindele has called for respect for the Office of the President, stating that the violence that occurred in Chingola over the weekend is regrettable and should not be repeated. Mr Kavindele emphasised that going anywhere near the President in a manner that threatens his security is unlawful and undermines national peace and order.

He said President Hakainde Hichilema has done a lot for the people on the Copperbelt, and Chingola in particular, citing improvements in road infrastructure, the revitalisation of mining operations, and increased government engagement with local communities. Mr Kavindele noted that such developments are clear indicators of the administration’s commitment to uplifting the region, making the events of Saturday unexpected and uncalled for.

Mr Kavindele, who served as Chingola Member of Parliament for 15 years, expressed confidence that the Head of State still enjoys significant support in the area despite the incident. He explained that Chingola has historically backed national leadership and continues to appreciate ongoing development projects.

“Even if the mob was frustrated, there was no good reason to throw stones, attack the police and burn their vehicle,” he said, adding that such actions jeopardise public safety and create unnecessary tension.

  1. Excuse my ignorance but shouldnt we be asking ourselves why this happened were other channels open to them ? or were they ignored when trying to air their grievences
This needs to be looked into first as normally we are a peaceful nation so the question WHY remains

  2. What happened in Chingola should not be allowed. But truth be told, a PF Provincial Chairman was killed in Northwestern province by suspected cadres during the 2021 elections, their leaders did not condemn the act by their suspected cadres, ECL is insulted and threatened with circumcision by cadres, their leaders did not condemn, a bishop is called a Lucifer by a party member, the leader does not condemn. It is these types of things that make these unruly cadres start thinking abnormal things are normal, when they don’t see consequences. Mr Kavindele should have voiced out when these things were happening in the past.

  3. Ba Kavindele bamukula. Ikaleni fye panshi. Please save us your tribal favors. Please start preparing to turn into fertilizer.
