Police commissioners conclude North-Western tour

A team of Commissioners from the Zambia Police Service, led by Commission Chairperson Peter Machungwa has concluded its tour of North-Western Province with an assurance that the government remains committed to resolving key challenges affecting police officers.

The media reports that speaking during a courtesy call on Provincial Administration in Solwezi today, Dr Machungwa said the commissioners’ visit focused on engaging senior police and immigration officers to assess their operational readiness ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

Dr Machungwa highlighted inadequate logistics saying limited transport capacity for officers in remote parts of the Province was one of the pressing concerns observed during the tour.

“The government is prepared to intervene using initiatives such as the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to ease some of these operational challenges,” he said.

He further appealed to citizens to refrain from lawlessness, stressing that sustaining peace and stability is essential for Zambia’s economic growth.

Meanwhile, North-Western Province Permanent Secretary Col Grandson Katambi (Rtd) expressed concern over the lack of proper accommodation for police and immigration officers stationed at the Province’s border posts.

He said addressing these challenges is critical to ensuring that law enforcement officers execute their duties effectively.
