POLICE in Lusaka have impounded a Mitsubishi Pajero which is allegedly believed to have been illegally in the possession of former president Rupiah Banda’s doctor.
Police Spokesperson, Elizabeth Kanjela yesterday confirmed in an interview that police got the motor vehicle from a Dr Desai.
The impounded vehicle was being used by Dr Shaileni Desai of Victoria Hospital in Lusaka.
“We only have one vehicle that police are holding onto which is a Mitsubishi Pajero from a Dr Desai. It is believed to have been illegally in his possession,” she said.
Ms Kanjela, however said she could not divulge further details as investigations were still underway.
She said police were still carrying out investigations on the matter and that she would provide members of the public with further updates.

The Doc is under scruting for giving HH a sick note after the tear gas incident. I am certain he was a part of the witch hunt right after your PF thugs took office and to their dissapointment there was nothing they found, thanks to the fact that the Doc is an honest man!!!! PF at it again… Dr Desai is being victimized because he wrote HH a hospital sick report to take to court when he was tear-gased by police. Dr Desai was a state house member of staff and like any senior government official, he is entitled to a vehicle after his contract. Even Chiluba and Mwanawasa’s Doctors bought of their vehicles…… Our country has gone to cadres!
Idi.ots! How do impound someone’s property when you’ve not even carried out thorough investigations and established the reasons why you need to impound the vehicle? It is only in backward countries led by backward monkeys that someone’s property can be impounded on the basis of a ‘belief’. In civilised countries evidence is based on ‘Fact’ not ‘belief’. Give that vehicle to the owner until such s time that you’ve factually established that the vehicle was acquired illegally. Primitive! Primitive! Primitive! These are the three operative words that describe Sata’s backward regime!
Let him exonerate if the vehicle got in his possession in un corrupt way. If found wanting then he should appear in court for stealing. In this era we will not support corruption. Police unprofessionally investigate this case.

I knew Dr Shaileni Desai at Ridgweay in the 1990s, in fact he was even Dr Kaseba-Sata’s student,its sad to see him being victimized just because he treated HH and was RB’s physician.Can the PF police please make it clear to the medical fraternity whether its a crime to treat members of the UPND.Do the police have the manpower to carry out all these political investigations? Thieves must be having a field day in Zambia.

Could it be that my old mate decided to convert GRZ property illegally after MMD lost last years elections? I know he had a Pajero before becoming RB’s Doctor. Could it be the same one? Kalupe……how many investigations have the police instituted and gone quiet? what happened to the gold Scam,thandiwe Bandas properties,the Mpundu trust,seizing of maize and sewing machines from the Late George Kundas parents farm,seizing RB’s bus…so much rubbish that excites you illiterates then as soon as the police burn their fingers they keep quiet and the story dies.I’m now beginning to think Dr Malama must have refused to comply to some suspicious instructions and hence was fired.

And yeah am an illiterate that was in the same class and volleyball team at UNZA with Shaileen. So I may know more than you think hence the reason I said ‘LETS WAIT AND SEE’. You people dont condemn the police, do you know how Rupiah used to operate? Ati tola tyala na kupasa ndine kateka wa vonse. The doctor should have been smart enough to follow the procedure to legally own the vehicle, but he believed Rupiah & MMD will be forever in power. What ever he did to HH is irrevant hear, if he is not careful azangena. How do you think the FAZ hilux was grabbed bt state house and used by Rupiah’s son illegally? I find it hard to understand people who blame RB for corruption when he ruled for 3 yrs only and corruption came common in Zambia in the chiluba era.Most people obtained passports corruptly,most people obtain scholarships corruptly,most people obtain tenders corruptly,most people obtain contracts corruptly.Its nothing to do with RB but everything to do with Zambians.If the doctors condition of service included a 2nd hand Pajero why raise dust over it.This has everything to do with HH.The restriction of UNZA radio has to do with HH,the guy fired from Evelyn hone becoz of HH,treason charges dreamed by GBM again HH,police not respecting courts of law -HH
