CHISAMBA member of Parliament Moses Muteteka has paid up K498 million he owed the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC).
This is according to a statement issued by CEEC acting director general Daniel Sichombo in Lusaka yesterday.
Mr Sichomba said Mr Muteteka was granted a loan amounting to K320 million and he was taken to court after failing to comply with the loan facility agreement.
“Mr Muteteka was availed a loan facility by the commission in the sum of K320 million at an interest rate of 12 percent per annum and that the matter ended up in court, as the facility remained unamortised, contrary to the loan contract and the personal guarantees by the directors,” he said.
He said Mr Muteteka has paid the sum owed to the commission in full.
“We wish to clarify, however, that the full sum owed to the commission under the transaction has since been paid,” he said.
According to court records, CEEC had sued Mr Muteteka and Naomi Muteteka as directors of Omega Transport and Maintenance Limited for failing to comply with the loan facility repayment schedule.
The duo had applied for a loan to buy a tractor and accessories, which was approved by CEEC on May 12 this year.

Infact Muteteka did not refuse to pay back the money, the PF govt just wanted to embarrass them Muteteka and show the people that they are working. Mr. Muteteka did not steal that money. But they are a lot of people from PF who got the money from CEEC and have paid nothing up to date. Uyu muntu no mwaka taulapwa ati walufyanya, awe mwe!!!!
i thought that CEEC funds were meant for the citizens so that they could afford to get loans to start business…it was instead ministers who were benefitting from it.
Someone help me understand. I have worked in a financial institution and I understand the whole credit process. If the loan was approved on May 12th and moses was taken to court in September then what was the tenure of the loan? 4 months??? On the other hand, I am glad he paid up. No need to embarrass his grown a** and be lsk’s laughing stock. People enjoy such scandals of failing to pay nkongole. Enjoy your peace moze.
When you borrow you HAVE to pay back. He borrowed and he was asked to pay back so whats wrong with that? The fact that some PF members borrowed and have not paid up as alleged by some halfwits here is irrelevant for example GBM when still in opposition was asked to settle over K2billion he owed FRA and as a man he didn’t go around whining like a little girl instead he instructed his junior accountant to clear the amount using petty cash so Muteteka and his missus aren’t any special. It’s a pity HH never borrow from CEEC we could have asked him to pay up as well.

If the MMD had returned to power, all such cases would have been swept under the carpet, in the continuing plunder and rape of public resources that that party promoted and thived upon… what a tragedy! I thought someone campaigned to take over the regns as MMD president as the only Mr Clean in the Party…….Is this clean?
