(2) Creation of the Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs.
(3) Increasing of chiefs subsidies [from K1 million – K4 million] as well as retainers wages.
(4) Banning of tujijili and enforcing of laws regulating beer drinking.

In response, President Sata, who was flanked by justice minister Hon. Wynter Kabimba, chiefs and traditional affairs minister Prof. Nkandu Luo and deputy minister in the Ministry of Community Development Mother and Child Health Hon. Jean Kapata, assured the chiefs of his Government’s commitment in ensuring that development is taken to Southern Province.
“During the campaigns I promised the people of Southern Province that I will give them the Bottom Road immediately I am elected. Obviously, you have seen that works on the Bottom Road are moving very fast. Shortly, we will be moving to the Monze – Namwala Road once we organise resources,” the Head of State said.

“My Government is committed to address the problems facing our traditional leadership countrywide no wonder we resolved to give you a specific ministry [Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs] within our establishment.”

President Sata agreed with the chiefs’ concern on the need to have more interactions between the Government and the traditional leadership.

The President stressed that chiefs were a vital component in the governance of the country.

  1. (3) Increasing of chiefs subsidies [from K1 million – K4 million] as well as retainers wages.

Chiefs forgot to mention the other ‘POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT’, which could have been coupled with the above:

3(b) Increasing his excellency’s own salary by more than 100%

  2. Thank you Mr. President. That’s the way to go and next elections, we are beating HH with all the other PMz in Southern Province. Thank you to all the Tonga Chiefs also for having accepted to meet with the President at such a crucial time as this, when HH is busy trying to frustrate your hard work for the people of Zambia you are trying to do. It shall always be ONE ZAMBIA, ONE NATION. Viva PF.

  3. HH is a person full of pride. He thinks he is the best Zambia has ever have. And above all he knows all. The world has not been like that.

  4. It is theduty of every President to deliver and I will be on Sata’s side if he does just that. What is tainting Sata’s reign is only tribalism and nepotism otherwise he is a hard worker.

PLEASE LT THERE IS NO CONTENT WORTH TALKING ABOUT!

  6. Chiefs are not vital to the Governance of this country, they are draining our coffers. Why should they be paid for being chiefs? Theres need to remove them from Government pay role, disband the house of chiefs all together.

  7. #3. Majombo,Keep dreaming. All those chiefs are just pretenders. Some have never been to state house, it was an opportunity to be at the president’s residence. sata and his nephew insulted the Tonga people and did not apologize. In your small mind you think PF will ever have a seat in SP.Keep dreaming bro.

    • Winter was using Tonga during the meeting.Mind you,it is not Ha Ha the only Tonga that can be supported by Tongas. Why do you think GBM and the like are afraid of Winter ? Sata knows politics, just wait and see

  8. How did they resolve the contentious issue of the realignment of Itezhi-Tezhi and Chirundu? For sure they talked about it.

  9. lol.. Sata is making the same mistake RB made thinking he can get SP through the chiefs…lol. If sata delivers on the bottom road, improves the agricultural sector and denounced these tribal talks against the tongas by his ministers, believe me the tongas will forget hh. My wife is tonga and I know what is important for these people. They know sata is a hard worker, but they think that he hates them, and I dont blame them for thinking like that, especially with GBM’s accusations

  10. Please we want the names of all the chiefs who have gone to visit  SATA. Why are you not writing them? We want to know those chiefs who are against us.

  11. actually an intelligent person can tell that the list was created by PF, there are no chiefs in Southern province who can go to talk the rubbish that has been produced here. What interest do they have in Muchinga? What is good about farming when farmers have not got their money and there are inputs in the country for the coming season? Some one at LT is EXTREMELY DULL. JUST DELETE THE RUBBISH YOU HAVE PRINTED ABOVE.

  12. Tongas are just smart let’s face it , in their sturboness and difficult to manipulate though Southern province being permanent opposition at the end of the day the get what they need levy RB all tried to please the tongas by doing something . Why only southern chiefs how special are they if they wanted to congratulate sata for winning and increasing his salary and theirs , better they just sent an sms because the content if the meeting is an empty tin

  13. Good meeting indeed. But caution to the PF that they should not spend all resources on southern province pacifying them while neglecting other provinces. Remember that all provinces need roads the earlier you realized that the better for you in 2016.

  14. The Chiefs rose up tribal politics. And by the way, Southern Province being part of Zambia despite some disgruntled tribalists fanning tribalism, it deserves to be developed just like Northern Province where I come from as a bemba. Lets move beyond tribal stupidity and concentrate on developing the nation as a whole.

  15. #5 MABOTU, CAN YOU HIGHLIGHT OR GIVE FACTS ON SATA’S NEPOTISM AND TRIBALISM. I AM INTERESTED IN KNOWING JUST AS MAYBE OTHER BLOGGERS WOULD AS WELL. YOUR COMMENT DOESN’T TELL US ANYTHING MEANINGFUL. IT’S LIKE BEING ASKED HOW THE MATCH WAS BETWEEN MAN U AND LIVERPOOL AND YOU JUST SAY, ‘IT WAS VERY GOOD’. IF YOU DON’T TELL US WHO WON AND BY HOW MANY GOALS, AND HOW THEY PLAYED- YOU HAD BETTER NOT TOLD US ANYTHING.

  16. #9, I COULD SEE THAT IT’S EITHER DON’T GO TO ZAMBIA OR IF EVER YOU DO, YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO YOUR VILLAGE AT ALL. LET ALONE OTHER CITIZENS’ MY FRIEND CHIEF DO A LOT OF WORK. THEY ORGANISE PEOPLE IN ANYTHING BETTER THAN MDERN GVTS.

  17. They came to State House just to say that? Either there is more that was said and has been kept hidden otherwise it was not worth it. Every chief must work with the government of the day and other stake holders in promoting development and good governance in the country. You do not need to go to state house to say that. Further, it is the duty of any sitting government to take development to the people. This should be done not as a reward for good behavior but a noble obligation towards the citizens. That is why the government was voted in office ion the first place….

I thought chiefs palaces have been upgraded first by Chiluba secondly by Mwanawasa and Livingstone has always been a tourist capital, and Southern province has always been praised for good agriculture and received good support from the govt. I can not see anything new here. B Mfumu don’t embarrass yourselves, you are well respected. You wasted your time to visit that man. You will be in for a shock just wait.

  19. Northen province was being developed yes, but by govt mwe bantu? can you PF for the development of NP? Awee let us be realistic. PF has not yet developed any province, any district, any town not even a compound. Show us. I have been to Kasama, eeh the is nice mwe no potholes VIVA MMD VIVA Nervers Mumba. MMD live forever, your works shall follow you and God bless you. Ba chief drive pajeros bought by the previous govt through out Zambia awe muletasha imwe ala.

  21. I think this should be encouraged, chiefs represent people. It’s my prayer that all chiefs emulate the chiefs from southern province.’Attack’ him so that he takes development to all parts of the country.Work with him ,but never forget your people when you are confortable.

  22. I’ve been browsing on-line greater than three hours lately, yet I by no means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is beautiful price enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made excellent content material as you probably did, the net will likely be much more useful than ever before.
