The revival of those mines and the power supply required financial investment from the government. HH did not borrow funds for consumption purposes, but rather to rejuvenate an economy that was in a state of decline.
Imagine! UPND have continued with PF’s borrowing trend. They have increased our debt to $28.9 billion so far.

The trouble with us, we Zambians, are not ready aware how a country becomes rich. We still believe it is up to the President to make us rich. The truth lies somewhere else. We need a lot of the likes of the Kangotes! The government can actually make everyone a millionaire by printing lots of money and distributing it to the people. But as we know that is not the answer. We need to start making things that other countries would want to buy from us.
