Kambwili says PF still commands national support

Patriotic Front member Chishimba Kambwili has declared that the PF remains capable of returning to power, delivering one of the clearest political signals yet that the former ruling party intends to reassert itself in Zambia’s national political arena.

Kambwili, one of the most outspoken and recognisable figures in the Patriotic Front, said the party still commands widespread support across the country and retains the political machinery necessary to challenge for power. His remarks come as opposition leaders continue positioning themselves within an evolving political landscape shaped by internal contests and shifting alliances.

Speaking in remarks carried in the media, Kambwili expressed confidence that the PF remains deeply rooted in communities across Zambia despite the political transition that followed the 2021 elections. He said the party’s support base had not disappeared and that many citizens still identify with the political movement that governed Zambia for a decade.

Kambwili’s statement also follows his recent period of incarceration, an episode that placed him at the centre of national political discussion. Rather than diminishing his political presence, the experience has reinforced his standing among supporters who regard him as one of the party’s most vocal and influential figures.

Throughout his political career, Kambwili has built a reputation as a forceful campaigner capable of mobilising grassroots structures. His re-emergence in political discourse therefore carries weight within PF circles where leadership debates continue to shape the party’s direction.

The Patriotic Front, which held power from 2011 to 2021, remains one of Zambia’s most significant opposition forces. Since leaving government, the party has experienced internal debate regarding leadership, strategy and the path toward political recovery.

Within that context, Kambwili’s declaration that the PF can return to power signals the determination among sections of the party to rebuild momentum and reconnect with voters across the country.

Political analysts note that the PF’s future will depend heavily on how effectively it reorganises its structures and consolidates leadership within the party. Figures such as Kambwili continue to play an important role in shaping that conversation.

For many PF supporters, the party’s decade in government remains a central reference point in political discussions. Kambwili’s remarks draw on that history while projecting confidence that the organisation can once again position itself as a major contender in national politics.

His intervention also highlights the broader contest underway within the opposition landscape where political actors are outlining their visions for leadership and influence.

Despite internal debates, the PF continues to command a visible presence in Zambia’s political environment. Statements from senior party figures such as Kambwili underscore the determination among members to maintain relevance and reassert the party’s political strength.

Kambwili’s message ultimately reflects the ongoing struggle for leadership and direction within opposition politics, a process that will continue to shape the country’s political narrative as parties reorganise and prepare for future electoral contests.

    • I dont think even these donations being given to these compromised churches will help UPND. Church is a place for clergy to preach salvation not to lobby, extort or corner politicians for money, mostly money from proceeds or unknown sources

    • Churches in Zambia have become very political and most clergy, it is kalilo. Very polarised to the extent of showing serious caderism

    • The prevailing mindset among many commentators here has contributed significantly to the current predicament of this country. Only an individual afflicted by a condition known as ignorance would desire the return of PF to power. If you assert that PF was superior because they were able to borrow funds for your consumption, then why were they ousted? Those who recognize the accomplishments of HH will cast their votes for him in large numbers. In 2021, Zambia’s economy was in critical condition, with no growth in GDP. Any serious student of economics comprehends this fact thoroughly. Many of you lack economic literacy, expecting instant prosperity after years of mismanagement. I attribute this to the education system present in Zambia. Continue dreaming, ba Mokey head.

    • This is a lie by Musonda, we were better in PF than now. Check the prices of mealie meal, that is the only true measure

    • Zambians want PF and not propagandists, not a single soul in Zambia can claim that their life has improved since 2021, in effect it has worsened.

  1. Churches money minting machines
Want wealth become a pastor open a church 2 day week with full pockets

  2. Kambwili, a convicted felony, with no leadership qualities at all. Who will vote for him? Here its Makebi or Mundubile. The rest are garbage

  3. Kambwili, a convicted felon, with no leadership qualities at all. Who will vote for him? Here its Makebi or Mundubile. Finish

  4. Kambwili is a convicted felony with no leadership qualities. A low IQ free loader that is compromised and being used as a UPND plant to spread division in opposition as well as spy on opposition figures. Wake up

  5. Kambwili is a convicted felon with no leadership qualities. A low IQ free loader that is compromised and being used as a UPND plant to spread division in opposition as well as spy on opposition figures. Wake up

  6. Dream on naimwe we cannot forget the ‘do you know me’ brandishing firearms…burning hard currency on air…displaying local currency eagle spread on your beds…building house with questionable sources of income and you think you can bounce back…we cannot forget…salama park was full of your so called sides..driving new ford rangers when we knew they could not afford….you should ask for forgiveness…

  7. Why would anyone take Kambwili seriously? He is an empty tin. Oops! I forget that’s exactly how many thought of one Donald Trump.
And What happened to HH,’s Michael Jackson gloves?

    • Those were not just gloves, the had chemical protection pads inside.Ask Intelligence officers.Trust no one near you gloves

    • Apparently HH was using them without copyright.
So the new US ambassador, acting on behalf of his late citizen, came and claimed them.
The CIA is investigating whether HH has white socks too.

  8. I would rather vote for PF, and If PF was not a factor, why are you destabilising it

  9. Fuel is not K12, mealie meal is not K50, fertiliser is not K250, free education is a KK program, CDF is an MMD program. We were saved from Loadshedding just by an election year. With major investment in mines, no impact on the ground. Sworn in at 10 kwacha picks at 14 did not work. So to come back and do what. I would rather go back to PF

    • Loans were carelessly contracted by pf. They borrowed and defaulted in paying back the money they borrowed which even attracted penalties.Zambia is currently servicing a huge debt that was gotten in the pretext of improving the very facilities that generates power and even alternative sources. This money ended in their pockets putting pressure on the economy.

    • Zambia relies on fuel imports and does not have control over the selling price of fuel. Since the onset of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, fuel prices have been rising globally. Regarding mealie meal, are you truly unaware? In previous years, insufficient rainfall adversely affected prices. It would be beneficial for you to study the fundamental principles of supply and demand.

I trust you now understand the origins of the high cost of living? A significant portion of our budget is allocated to servicing the debt left by the previous government. You people go school than talking about things you dont fully understand

    • Bull sh*t is for those illiots who call others names like this lost and spineless chap calling itself nkana something. Why cant you be civil and sober?

  10. I would go for PF as well. I miss them, apart from just caderism, they worked hard. Hats off to ECL and his team

    • School is the problem.Your pf left the economy in ICU.They borrowed money and put in their own pockets.Only someone suffering from a disease called ignorance’ would wish PF back into power.School can help you

  11. PF is dead and buried. The dead cannot be resurrected. Yes upnd has not fared well but PF is not the alternative.

    • Kwena mwe! UPND are a big flop but who is the alternative? Ba PF? Nama cadre yamachain?

  12. We cant be voting for people then when they fail they start saying hunger is biblical. That is totally unacceptable, I would rather have PF back

    • Keep on dreaming.Only the economically illiterates expect overnight prosperity after years of mismanagement. You grow the economy one step at a time.Does it mean the whole country you are this dull?

  13. Boring. So which PF faction is he now with, since the rubbish ECL treatment he received to keep him away from plot 1? If Sata was still alive there would be no contest, manje who can say if PF will be remembered in 10 years

  14. I’d rather not vote. PF and UPND? Both incompetent and clueless and both heavy borrowers.

    • @ mother popcorn. You are unaware of the accomplishments HH has made in four years. You remain in Randburg and Midrand, discussing incompetence. The revival of those mines and the power supply required financial investment from the government. HH did not borrow funds for consumption purposes, but rather to rejuvenate an economy that was in a state of decline.

    • Imagine! UPND have continued with PF’s borrowing trend. They have increased our debt to $28.9 billion so far.
So what are we keeping them for? The incompetence you hate is better than the incompetence you love? Makes no sense

  15. The trouble with us, we Zambians, are not ready aware how a country becomes rich. We still believe it is up to the President to make us rich. The truth lies somewhere else. We need a lot of the likes of the Kangotes! The government can actually make everyone a millionaire by printing lots of money and distributing it to the people. But as we know that is not the answer. We need to start making things that other countries would want to buy from us.
