Nalumango Dismisses Crash, Assassination Claims

Vice-President Mutale Nalumango has dismissed as false and malicious social media claims alleging that she was involved in a helicopter accident in Eastern Province.

In a statement issued by her Press Aide Njenje Chizu, the office clarified that the Vice-President has been safely carrying out a tour of duty to assess the impact of floods in Northern, Eastern, and Luapula provinces.

Chizu condemned what he described as a growing trend of misinformation, particularly from individuals linked to opposition groups, aimed at creating the impression of discord between President Hakainde Hichilema and Vice-President Nalumango.

He also dismissed claims suggesting that the Vice-President was nearly involved in an “arranged plane crash” intended to harm her, describing the allegations as reckless propaganda that threatens national peace and security.

“At no point has there been any attempt on her life, nor has any aircraft in her entourage experienced or come close to an accident,” Chizu said.

He has since called on law enforcement agencies to take action against individuals spreading misleading information online, warning that such claims have the potential to cause unnecessary panic and instability.
