The United States government has expressed optimism that Zambia is economically well placed and stands more advantaged to grow to about 7 percent due to its prudent macroeconomic management policies it has put in place.

United States Ambassador to Zambia Mark Storella believes Zambia is on the right track in its quest to ensure the economy remains stable and conducive for conducting business.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ZANIS, Mr. Storella stressed that Zambia will certainly grow because the Zambian government has proved through its determination to achieve its set goal of 8 percent growth.

He, however, challenged government to ensure the country’s economic growth trickles down to the common man adding that only then can the general populace appreciate the economic benefits the country is trailing on.

Mr. Storella further implored Zambian entrepreneurs to be more aggressively innovative if they are to boost and expand their businesses.

He added that for the country to come out of its economic despondency it has to critically focus and diversify its economy to ensure it does not solely dependent on mining because it is a sector of non -renewable resources.

  1. This guy should go back to his USA. His comments are missplaced and un necessary. He is enjoying while the rule of law is breaking down and all they are saying is Zambia is doing well this that. Who made him a social commentator on Zambia. Obama take away your person

  2. RUPIAH’s efforts are paying off.
I hope SATA will not put the car in reverse gear, as we already seem to be seeing.
Rupiah and his predicessor, Levy, were indeed great leaders.
We will watch SATA and see if he will manage to even just take care of what RUPIAH left for him – Just maintaining the growth left by his predicessor will make us happy, even if he does not add anything. But it will be sad if all he will do is subtract, my foot!!!!

  3. How can Storella talk about “coming out of economic despondency” when the last government was responsible for the policies that made these growth figures possible! I think ZANIS is giving some spin to his comments – and it’s not just desperate, it’s embarrassing.

  4. Ka Storella naiko! kaingo kamba kamba…but lets face it. This is propaganda written by ZANIS who deliberately left out critical comments from Storella….
