The construction of schools under the Zambia Education Enhanced Project (ZEEP) in Northern Province has reached an advanced stage, with all school buildings now roofed.
Northern Province Education Officer (PEO), Mulambwa Nawa, says once completed, the schools will enable children to complete their secondary education, which is a challenge as most rural communities lack secondary schools.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Nawa has disclosed that the ministry is expected to receive final funding soon to complete the construction of ZEEP schools.
“We have nine big ZEEP schools being constructed in our province and all the schools including the 12 teacher’s houses have been roofed, this is milestone to us as the completion of these schools will offer secondary school space in communities which has been a challenge,” Mr Nawa said.
He has thanked the government for the timely release of funding and its commitment to providing access to education for remote communities.
Government with support from the World Bank is constructing nine (9) Secondary Schools across Northern Province.
