Kalulushi M/Stars Edge Closer To Ending 11-Year Super Div Hiatus

Kalulushi Modern Stars moved closer to bouncing back to the Super Division for the first time since 2001 on Sunday after beating Kitwe United 2-1 at Independence Stadium in Kalulushi.

Ex-Zambia Under-23 winger William Chinse and defender Mike Katiba scored the two vital goals for Modern Stars.

Chinse haunted his old club Kitwe with an equaliser after midfielder Henry “Makelele” Mwamba had given the Buchi Boys an early lead.

After Sunday’s result in the Faz Division One North Week 32 match, second placed Modern Stars increased their tally to 56 points and have unresolved abandoned match against Mufulira Wandereres.

Kitwe have 49 points.

Elsewhere, leaders and promoted side Lime Hotspurs beat Wanderers 1-0 at Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola to maintain a 15-point lead at the top of the league.

John Sikaumbwa scored the solitary goal as Lime moved to 71 points.

The Ndola United and Police Blue Eagles match is reported to have been abandoned in the second half due to crowd trouble at Musa Kasonka Stadium in Ndola where the home side was 3-1 down.
