The opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) has said that it has been vindicated by the court judgment that nullified the invalidation of Dr. Nevers Mumba’s election.
On Monday, the high court ruled against major Richard kachingwe invalidation of Nevers Mumba as party president.
MMD vice president for administration, Brian Chituwo said that he is now hopeful that the court judgment will put to rest all desires by some politicians to ruin the party.
Dr. Chituwo said that it should now be realized that the country only has one genuine MMD under the leadership of Dr. Nevers Mumba.
Speaking at a media briefing, Dr. Chituwo said that Major Richard Kachingwe’s move to nullify the election of Dr. Mumba only shows the highest order of indiscipline.
He said that it is good that the court nullified the invalidation because it is nowhere in the party constitution.
Dr. Chituwo has since called on all party members to unity and rally behind party president, Dr. Nevers Mumba.
Meanwhile, Times of Zambia reports that records at the office of the Registrar of Societies show that former Republican President Rupiah Banda and former Zambian High Commissioner to Canada Nevers Mumba are still active MMD and Reform Party (RP) leaders, respectively.
The MMD structure shows that Mr Banda is president of the MMD while the national chairperson is Michael Mabenga.
Home Affairs Minister Edgar Lungu said this at a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday.

Records indicate that Kabinga Pande is vice-chairperson, Jeff Kaande as deputy national secretary while Suresh Desai and late former vice-president George Kunda are listed as national trustees.
The RP structure shows that Dr Mumba is still party president with senior party officials listed as Eve Sanderson, party secretary N. Nyirongo, administrative secretary M. Sokoni, party treasurer J. Temani while R. Kaputula was listed as a senior member.
Mr Lungu, who was amplifying on the statement he issued last week that he may be forced to deregister the MMD, said the former ruling party had failed to update records despite several reminders.
The minister said the records showed that Mr Banda and Dr Mumba were active presidents of the MMD and RP, respectively.
MMD has been embroiled in internal problems that have resulted in a splinter group led by ousted national secretary, Richard Kachingwe.
Mr Lungu said the Government would follow records from the Registrar of Societies because it was a legal body charged with the mandate of overseeing national records, including operations of parties.
Last week, Mr Lungu warned that he may be forced to deregister the MMD if its squabbles became a danger to the peace and stability of the country.
Lungu wawa, the ZWD has posted scanned documents of when the names of the MMD presidency were changed.
The documents released by Edgar Lungu indicate that Katele Kalumba is still National Secretary of MMD.If this is true,where then does Kachingwe’s claim that he is National Secretary of MMD arise from.In his haste to remove current documents from MMD file as kept by the Registrar of Societies,Kachingwe has removed himself of any claim on MMD.

A city or town council is a state party and acts on behalf of several government agencies, changing office bearers can be done at the council, the council had accepted the changes to the MMD office bearers , this is legal enough, The Registrar of Societies is on record to have said he had received payments from ‘Nevers Mumba the President of MMD’. If the Office of the Registrar of Societies omitted to synchronize its records with those of the council, then it is just an administrative matter between the two government agencies and not a problem of the MMD. The MMD has documents to show at any time that it had submitted new office bearers to a govt agent that is mandated to receive names on behalf of the registrar of societies.
if thats the case then i wonder why Never Mumba would still want to be hanging on to RP presidency. what does it take to deregister a party. now what Andeleki and Lungu should do is deregister RP, then the problem is solved.

I don’t like Nevers Mumba but he did not ascend to the summit illegally, from the little I understand and from what i can see and I know I am 100% correct Major Kachingwe is mentally challenged and is bitter dull and a liability how on earth he held those political positions in MMD sums up that party.

Numerous issues in MMD caused by PF Sata in the name of weakening the opposition are slowly and will all be reversed back to PF Sata to defend. Competency of is highly questionable in a bid to serve two masters. (1)Kachingwe was chief officer of MMD and verified Dr Mumba’s candidature before party president elections. (2) Kachingwe as CEO of MMD should have updated all party records to ensure legal compliance of the party. (3)Kachingwe never understood his duties and powers, hence misconception that he can act the way he did, hoping Sata will praise him as he is now on PF Sata payroll and protection. Kachingwe is a failure even his background speaks volumes of it. Legal system practiced without interferance would rid unnecessary ills and by- elections and develop Zambia.
People or Zambians in the United Kingdom should exercise a citizen arrest on Sata, the Zambian sadist autocratic Dictator who has destroyed Zambian good peace reputation.

So far the Post Newspaper and the Watchdog have carried conflicting accounts on where the president is after attending the summit in Ethiopia. Lusaka Times, as a news medium you always report on the president’s departure/arrival but why are you silent on this occasion, are you compromised? Come on, break your silence.
