Togo Want To Do a Zambia

Togo coach Didier Six says his team or Burkina Faso are both capable of emulating Zambia and Herve Renard to win the 2013 Africa Cup.

The two teams clash on Sunday at Mbombela Stadium in both sides first meeting at this stage of the competition.

Six said Togo reaching the final and winning it will put to rest their own tragedy in Cabinda when the team bus was attacked leaving one official dead as they drove from Congo-Brazzaville to Angola for the 2010 Africa Cup.

“The players are motivated to reach achieve what we want,” said Six at the pre-match briefing at The Winkler Protea in White River on Saturday.

“I have been charge for 15 months from my first game against Guinea and the players have changed their focus and moved on after that tragedy and turned a new page.”

The Euro 1984 winner with France said he was also looking forward to emulate his compatriot Renard and lift the Africa Cup.

“Everybody can be like Herve Renard. Up to now I personally don’t know how far I can go even Burkina Faso coach can be like Herve Renard,” Six said.

“Otherwise I am happy with the support from the fans, officials and discipline from the players to try and meet our objective.”

  1. I hate South Africa and I’m very happy that thare out of the tournament .The fucs gave us poor stadium and have been talking rubbish about Zambia . Our country helped that country struggle for the independent .Luangwa Bridge was destroyed and I doubt if they helped to rebuild .Why do the support other countries and not neighbours like Zambia .We are actually teaching them football with the pros in that weak League .

  2. CAF is so useless how can they allow such a bad pitch to be used for a big competition Mbombela pitch is bad, the standard of that pitch is primary school pitch. Let’s be serious with these issues.

  3. It iz very cheap to associate victory with the dead(with due respect). That Zambia won the AFCON in Gabon where the entire team perished some 20yearz ago waz mere coincidence, and there should be no fuss about it. I do hope thoze playerz who go into “deep prayerz” do so in order to enjoy the game and not for victory, becauze the living God would not want anybody to loze.

  4. The Zambia national team has all the fighting spirit, but no finishing power(the upfront of the mbesumas) the team could have carried the day if the strikers were lined up like this – Mayuka (11), Mbesuma (10), Mukuka Mulenga (9), Christopher Katongo (8) and Chisamba Lungu (7). Try this method Bwana coach.
