President Michael Sata has been invited by the People‘s Republic of China to attend a BOAO forum for Asia Annual Conference where he is expected to deliver a keynote speech in April this year.

This is according to a statement made available to ZANIS by the Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations George Chellah in Lusaka yesterday.

Mr. Chellah said the conference will be held from 6th to 8th April this year under the theme “Asia seeking development for all: restructuring, responsibility and cooperation”.

The conference will be attended by over ten Presidents including Chinese leaders.

He named other prominent figures expected to attend the conference as head of the International Monitoring Fund (IMF) and eight other leaders of the international organisations.

He said approximately, 2,000 participants ranging from government representatives, business leaders, academicians and the media will attend this year’s conference.

Mr. Chellah explained that the BOAO forum was the most prestigious and premier meeting that hosts high leveled discussions for leaders from government, business and academia in Asia and other continents to share their vision on most pressing issues in this region and the world as a whole.

He said the forum was committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries even closer to their development goals.

Mr. Chellah noted that the discussions at the forum will focus on economics, integration, cooperation, society and the environment.

  1. I am not happy with this announcement. It is too early to tell whether I will even be well enough to fulfill this engagement. Bwinjimfumu road should have held on to this engagement until it was close enough and most importantly I knew what condition I was in. I live on a day by day basis if not on an hour by hour basis. So these far ahead appointments are not for me!

    • Mwaice do you know that the so called educated men and women of Zambia have been put to shame by Sata?

I am proposing that we put a clause in the Constitution that will bar anyone with a diploma or degree from standing as President of Zambia. Mwe ba sambilila muli fitini…ifikopo!!

    • NUMBER BETTER GET USED TO LIVING WITH THE NATIONALLY ELECTED LEADER. YOUR BITTERNESS WILL JUST TAKE YOU TO CHAINAMA OR TO THE GRAVE LEAVING THE ONE YOU EXPECT AND WISH TO DIE VERY INTACT AND HEALTHY.

  2. Mukaka so now you want us to be a nation of
    dull people,
if you failed School your loss even
Sata is learned, and he has a diploma ,

    • Being educated does not necessarily mean your are a thinker. The world is full educated derelicts.
Men and women educate themselves to work for the thinkers.

  3. The entire nation of Zambia has been held at ransom by the PF clique. This is unacceptable for a political party to think that the whole of Zambia’s agenda can be reduced to its political party agenda. Zambia is greater than PF.

    Nevertheless, all the best MCS if you will travel to China. Please just ensure that;
    1. Every time you say something, you do not put your foot in your mouth. Stick to the text and avoid at all costs your chimbuya manners at international fora. You have enough resourceful persons to help you with what to objectively present at the event.
    2. While presenting your paper at a public fora or while on live TV don’t lick your finger(s) to apply saliva when turning the pages. You have this bad behavior. Its a detestation.

  4. Mukuka 3.1 you will eat your own words every soon. Education is metastatic and unbeatable. Two years from now or sooner Zambian political dynamism will be totally changed. The only thing constant in life is change my friend. Get educated if you are not as time will soon catch up with you. Read more about Tanzania, Brazil, Ghana, and the effect of educated leaders on their sovereign countries as opposed to uneducated leaders. Be informed and walk wise and sharp. Think with your brain.

    • NOT EVERYONE CAN BE EDUCATED MWANA. THAT DOESN’T MEAN THE UNEDUCATED BECOME USELESS. THE SEMI ILLITERATES ARE EVEN MORE PRODUCTIVE THAN MOST OF THE FUULISH EDUCATED PEOPLE IN ZAMBIA.

  5. U may have all the academic qualifications in the world but if you don’t apply that knowledge into reality u are worse than one who never saw any classroom .ln Zambia we have not a few who are like this .Go,go Sata and shame them fools!

  6. Education is about accumulating knowledge .knowledge is everyway what u nid is to b dedicated to aquiring it e.g.through reading various books that are relavant to what u want to achieve.l am an employer and mostly i use wat i teach myself.

  7. Just to say, this is a wrong forum for our President to attend. At this forum the focus is Asia, which though provides him an opportunity to network and woe investors, the impact is very minimal. I just hope, they have tied this visit to an official visit before or after the forum. My experience with our colleagues here, they would rather focus on a “better country” given a choice, in this case we don’t compare to the immediate neighbors both in trade flow and investment. My proposal to George and the team, try to have a private Zambia business forum on the side lines or otherwise for effective marketing of Zambia, otherwise it will just be another wasted visit with minimal results if any.

  8. MY HUMBLE APPEAL TO THE PRESIDENT IS THAT HE MUST INCLUDE PROF. CLIVE CHIRWA ON HIS TRIP TO CHINA SO THAT HE (PROF) CAN GO AND SHOW-CASE HIS PLANS FOR THE RAIL SYSTEM TO THE ASIAN COUNTRIES IN ORDER TO WOE PPP INVESTORS. IT WOULD NOT ONLY BE CHEAPER TO SOLICIT FOR FUNDS DURING THIS TRIP BUT ALSO IT CAN CARRY MORE WEIGHT IF WOWING INVESTORS IS DONE AT DURING THE PRESIDENT’S TRIP.
