Bishop describes dressing styles among Zambians as disgraceful

A Lusaka-based clergyman has expressed great concern over what he described as disgraceful style of dressing on most men and women in the country.

United Church of Zambia Synod Bishop, Mutale Mulumbwa, expressed his concern during a church service held at Central Congregation in Nakonde district yesterday.

Bishop Mulumbwa observed that most dressing styles which many people have adopted in the country do not portray any Christianity value but indecency in the eyes of the Lord.

He said it is so embarrassing to see children of the Lord who were nicely made to be putting on something that makes them lose their standing Christian morals in the country.

He cited ladies mini-skirts that go beyond their knees and sagging kind of dressing by most men in the country, among others.

The bishop also explained that some kind of dressing makes others to lose confidence in the Christian Faith.

He further advised people to always keep their good faith and show Christian morals in whatever they do by also adopting the kind of dressing that have an attachment of decency in them.

“Let us be genuine and keep our Christianity faith in the way we do things in our lives,” said Bishop Mulumbwa.

  1. “He cited ladies mini-skirts that go beyond their knees and sagging kind of dressing by most men in the country, among others.” I like that part coz it has been a while ever since i heard the sagging term.Takes me back in memory lines when my blood was still fresh and full of raging hormones.

  2. the Pastor failed to quote from the Bible coz there is no restriction on dressing. just like Adam and Eve no one complained about their nakedness. infact the same pastor wala fyompa ubunyo ba madam wawo…

  3. @ yike wandepula. its true abanakashi ba muzambia bamusebanya. calindetela insoni ninshi abddu sallah hibrahim atandalile ku zed

  4. True but we cant control everyone, human begins have a free choice and God has permitted human beigns to either follow His teachings or not. So Pastor teach these Fellas but dont expect everyone to follow your teachings; which is normal. Whoever has ears must hear & hearken to this wise advice…

  5. We need that kind of msg ,coz must pastor they ar very scard 2 tailk about it,how can u wear short skt ,and u even sit in front Pipo pliz.

  6. The only disgraceful thing about Zambian dressing is that its not original. Its copycat. Where are Zambia’s fashion experts? The men always want to dress in jkackets and ties imitating the colonialists all the time. The younstars want to imitate thE rappeRs with sagging talauzaz. At least the women are more patriotic to africanness.

  7. One wonders if we went back to traditional clothing if we would actually be walking around in attire best suited for the poolside in modern terms…

  8. The issue here is whether, traditional or western, just dress decently. Thats it.

  9. Ba Bishop, you have wondering eyes. You should not judge people in the house of the lord. Where in the bible does it set the type of attire one needs to wear?Your observations are a clear temptation by the devil and you are finding it very difficult to resist just like our politicians find it difficult to resist the temptation of abusing their roles in our society.

  10. Is this page beiing censored? My friend in Germany posted several blogs that didnt appear. He sent me one to post and it didn’t appear. Ba Lt you are acting like ba Tumfweko

  11. Very true. If you are disciples of copycat culture whatever the master does you do. If mini skirts are trending in Europe, they trend in Lusaka too. If the Europeans go nude you also want to go nude. If they start eating sH**t you also head for the toilet.

  12. Which criteria is the Bishop using to determine a mini skirt?
He says above the knee, but who said it has to be bellow the knee? Who set that standard?
We can argue and fight on things that are not defined and still find no answer.
How can we be decent without being legalistic?
