The National Restoration Party (NAREP) has described yesterday’s violent attack meted on Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) officials by some Patriotic Front (PF) cadres as an unacceptable reminder of the notorious vigilantes of the United National Independence Party (UNIP) era.

In yesterday’s PF attack, MMD’s Bowman Lusambo who was among others that were attacked, disclosed at a press briefing that when he was apprehended by the PF mob he was allegedly beaten, threatened with death and forced to support the PF government’s decision to lift subsidies on fuel and maize.

NAREP National Secretary Jevan Kamanga said that the assault on Mr. Lusambo by PF cadres must be condemned in the strongest possible terms by the PF leadership and all right thinking Zambians.

In statement released to Qfm Rev. Kamanga also noted that silence on the part of the PF will confirm the widely held suspicion that this violence is being conducted with the full blessing of the senior-most leadership of the ruling Party.

Rev. Kamanga has charged that Zambia cannot have a situation in which such levels of political intolerance are accepted by those who have been tasked to offer leadership to the nation.

He said his party NAREP demands that the full measure of the law is applied in order to restore order and sanity to the country’s badly deteriorating political environment.

The NAREP National Secretary has since appealed to the PF government to investigate the alleged ruthless attack meted on MMD members by the PF cadres and facilitate bringing to book the people alleged to have abducted and assaulted Mr. Lusambo.

  1. It is indeed very uncouth behavior ,but violence has always been a characteristic of African politics.I don`t see the cadres changing any time soon inspite of which party takes over the reins.Welcome to the club dear Narep.

  2. why didnt he order the arrest on these cadres like he did to the students? animal farm, just thinking

  3. Why should they propagate anarchy, more of such is inevitable for as long as sme opposition parties don’t show respect for peace…

  4. The Americans, in particular, capital and the World Bank are supportive of the Zambian government’s move to remove maize and fuel subsidies and this should not be viewed as a historical ‘u’ turn in pursuit of sustainable livelihoods. In fact it is a well matched result of capital as it is a traditional approach in eliminating any govt. social spending on the poor. Capital also ensures that labour is weakened through threates of shifting capital’s investments to so-called investor friendly receiving nations. Hence, capital and its allies, the World Bank and Americans are praising the Zambian government which is part of the superficial structure. Capital defines and shapes macro-economic policies which must be moderate to itself and not designed to lift the poor of out abject poverty.

    • Boom and Whatever, maybe you have limited knowledge of history and economics, but let me educate you. Do you remember how the world bank and the US used to praise African countries that adopted the structural adjustment program, which program was a thesis based idea of a masters student in America, which had never been tried and proved to be a disaster in all the African countries it was adopted at the instance of the world bank and the IMF. why would these institutions not support the removal of subsides, it is the only viable way the Zambia government can pay the Interest back on the Euro-bond it borrowed as the money was used for consumption. Zambia has a poor tax collecting system and hence it has no resources to fund these ridiculous loans that the PF government has and is taking.

  5. As a way forward I would discuss that the unbalanced argument projected and seemingly strengthened by the kings of industry, lacks factual liberating discourse which destroys the discursive language which the Americans are using as a rhetorical approach in this context. More often than not, Americans especially those analysing market performances do not consider the impact of the gains of capital in host countries where their multinational corporations operate from, but what matters to them are atypical employment opportunities created by the TNCs. The case in point is Zambia, here we see a shift in terms employment opportunities without referring to any literature review. More and more temporary positions emerge in sectors in which employees cannot claim from core employers. No gains.

  6. Iwe ka rev. kamanga nevers and the gang wanted to go into kanyama at this opportune time thinking the masses are agitated by the remvals of subsidies. But alas they found the people were resolutely in support of the PF and challenged them roundly.Theirs was to cause anarch in Kanyama by nevers jumping on the bus the way SATA used to do. Sata had urban support in opposition and ba nevers support is almost zero at the moment. It is dangerous to drive people into chaos when you know that you are not wanted by the majority in a particular area. Dont be mistaken the majority in the townships and compound have no problem with policy shift as most say that they started buy maize and gaya for a long time.It has been far much cheaper for them. They also dont travel alot.

  7. Beyond to what has said above, the equation which the Americans are more interested in does not include the poor or labour in terms of meaningful gains, but capital is identified as the sole beneficiary. And yet, Sata creates false hope for all Zambians and openly reassures his constituencies of distribution of wealth flowing the removal of all subsidies. What approach/theory will he use in achieving sustainable livelihoods for all Zambians? This is the other way of effecting a ‘trickle down theory’ or a triangle (bottom up) approach in a evidence-based researched policy. Capital cannot permit Sata to hit two birds with one stone, thus Sata is forcibly given a prepared speech by capital to inform his constituencies (Zambians) to bite the bullet for the sake of the invading…

  8. What happened to Lusambo when he organized cadres to beat up Kachingwe. If you are violent do not expect people not to be violent to you. The PF cadres should also expect a beating one day. Free advice to not getting beaten. “Do not be a cadre”. Do not be Violent”. NAREP at the speed you are moving I will not be surprised if one day you start the same tactics we are used to seeing from every Politician in Zambia. UNIP did it, MMD did it. UPND are the masters of violence. PF are doing it.

  9. Africa’s triplets Mugabe Amin and Sata a lifestyle of terrorising the opposition and deporting individuals refuse to dance to their tunes.

  10. Too much provoking from u opposition as such u deserve it. l wish dey did more. Yos is 2 surbotage whatever govt is doing .What kind of Zambians are u i di ots.? U HAVE WANTED SATA TO B A BAD PERSON HENCE YO DELIBARATE PROVACATION .PF ,BEAT THEM UP!

  11. We want positive criticism like this of nerap. Actually upnd and mmd way of politics is a danger to our peace in this country. They are not about good but negative to satisfy their opportunistic tendances. No sincerity in them. Just wolves.

  12. We warned you long time that Sata’s character is that of a violent man. Even if he is now republican president violence is/will always be his character. Remember violence of Sata through NAKAWALA in Matero. PF govt is violent in character as seen from recent arrests of innocent students, dethroning chiefs, arbitrary arrests of opposition in the country and absence of any head of state visiting Zambia except dictator Mugabe. African leaders have little regard for Sata as president of Zambia hence hiding behind KK in major meetings. Sata is a violent man and UBUFI.

  13. Sata is really destroying our image and they way we treat each other
Mr Sata should be coming out and condemn such acts instead of remaining mute
we are all Zambians whether PF or MMD, fighting each won’t take us anywhere .
the whole of Africa is being destroyed by in fighting lets promote peace and love

  14. U demons above stop lying .Actually should treat u with blows .U have so provoking u id io ts. Did u see the President doing that.Especially chi boman and some st upid upnd cadres. U have been inviting that .Unfortunetely dey spared him.

  15. Do not blame Sata over cadre behaviour. You can only do so after he states his position on violet and unruly behaviour of his cadres.Otherwise the opposition are capable of doing the same to pf,then what next?

  16. It appears the removal of subsidies has not been done in good faith. Either the capital masters or our own people have just put it across. Why should people be paid to force others to support what is going to make their lives miserable? Something is not right. For the capital masters, their support could be one which they feel will make people rise and bring down the govt. That is how they do it. Let us be careful. We only have one Zambia.

  17. Show us some pictures about this beating we are weary about your reporting you dont usually repport the truth
