Former Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Executive Directive Bishop, Paul Mususu says Zambians should not ascribe to notions such as spells, demons among others as the cause of the current happenings such as road accidents and violence.
In an interview with QFM, Bishop Mususu said in as much as the people are concerned about the frequent road accidents, an accident is an accident and happens any how hence people should not demonize and spiritualize them.
Bishop Mususu said there is need for people to stop being careless on the road and driving under the influence of alcohol.He added that there is need to ascertain how many unlicensed drivers are on the road.
He said once such matters are looked into, then Zambians can become superstitious and begin to talk about the spiritual world.
Bishop Mususu further added that Zambians should sober up and trust that God is able to protect the nation and desist from giving so much credit to satanic forces in the country.

Accidents on the roads happen everywhere in the world.Zambians must realise that the more vehicles we have on our roads the more likely accidents will happen.There are a lot of used Japanese vehicles in Zambia now than there were a few years ago.The road network ha not grown comprared to the growth of the traffic leves on the roads.Traffic police also seem to concentrate their patrols in cities and towns and they are rarely seen on highways.A lot of people also have obtained dubious driving licences and this is a contriuting factor to road accidents.Driver fatigue,overloading and carelessness also contributes to accidents.There is nothing like a curse on the roads.Police must be ore visible on te roads and punish offenders!
I wonder why people cant pay attention to such sensible explanations
Typically religious fervor goes hand in hand with superstition where the believers are not well grounded. As mentioned above we have not improved our road infrastructure in line with the vehicles on the road. We don’t even plan ahead (check out how a small population like Namibia has increased its infrastructure to cater for foreseeable future growth). We need to move away from prayer-and-fasting when there is an accident and add to it hard work, forward planning, and reality. Pray, fast, and work hard! That has always been the epitome of a successful community.

I didn’t know that stopping when the traffic light goes red was ‘abnormal’ until I arrived in Lusaka and started driving around. You get verbally abused for stopping at a red light. eish!

I have always said, this isn’t the work of demons,…. Our roads are bad, our cars are increasing daily, our drivers are terrible and ba RTSA give ma license like fritters!!

Demons are responsible for making us not to think properly, not to plan ahead to drink and drive ,name it, we should pray against them, defeat them and all should be fine.

Well sure, but tell that to Mr. Sata next time he goes off about bald people.
Mususu is spot on. Scare tactics by some clergy binding anaything and everything will not solve the problem but a careful examination of the root causes of these accidents.
Its a superstitious nation. Everytime we are faced with a problem we think we cant solve we resort to apportioning blame on some outer force. We should start by blaming ourselves for all the problems we face. If we know we caused it we shall confidently conquer it.
Its true we are always wanting to blame unseen things. “When Chris Katongo scores noone else will score” Katongo scored over the weekend and 2 others qued up to find the net.
It’s the demon called drink.
Mususu underestimates Zambian’s faith in God. We have always trusted in our God and our fastedness with recent turmoils is testimony of that trust in our Lord. To under play that trust by pretending that superstition is highly suspect in the nation is betraying the very trust Zambia has for God. We have recently experienced deaths in the nation needlessly on our roads, on the ruling party beating and causing death to innocent Zambians and abuse of basic rights by our govt. This is not out of careless drivers only or alcoholism in the nation. Multifactors are at play including dark pawers. Remember cults and occults will defend dark powers by factoring God so as to be authentic and believable.
